1 Peter 5:8, “Sober, vigilant.” See 1 Thessalonians 5:6-8; Titus 2:2; 1 Peter 1:13; 1 Peter 4:7. The sobriety here has no reference to intoxication, but to the state of mind according with vigilance. The reason for wakeful vigilance is the activity and malignity of the devil.
