Context — The Destruction of Jerusalem
22For these are the days of vengeance, to fulfill all that is written.
23How miserable those days will be for pregnant and nursing mothers! For there will be great distress upon the land and wrath against this people. 24They will fall by the edge of the sword and be led captive into all the nations. And Jerusalem will be trodden down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.Cross References

Luke 21:22 Summary
This verse is talking about a time when God will judge the nation of Israel for their sins, and it will be a very difficult and sad time. Jesus is saying that this time of judgment is a fulfillment of all the prophecies written in the Bible, such as Isaiah 61:2. It's a reminder that God is a holy and just God who will judge sin, but He also loves us and wants us to repent and turn to Him (as seen in 1 John 1:9 and Acts 3:19). We can trust in God's goodness and sovereignty, even in difficult times, and look to Him for comfort and guidance.
