Context — The Glory of the LORD Returns to the Temple
9Now let them remove far from Me their prostitution and the funeral offerings for their kings, and I will dwell among them forever.
10As for you, son of man, describe the temple to the people of Israel, so that they may be ashamed of their iniquities. Let them measure the plan, 11and if they are ashamed of all they have done, then make known to them the design of the temple—its arrangement and its exits and entrances—its whole design along with all its statutes, forms, and laws. Write it down in their sight, so that they may keep its complete design and all its statutes and may carry them out.Cross References

Ezekiel 43:9 Summary
[Ezekiel 43:9 is a call to repentance, where God asks the Israelites to turn away from their idolatrous practices and return to faithful worship of Him. This means removing anything that separates us from God, such as sinful habits or worldly influences, as seen in 2 Corinthians 6:14-18. By doing so, we can experience God's presence and blessing in our lives, as promised in Psalm 16:11. As we seek to follow God, we must be willing to let go of anything that hinders our relationship with Him, and instead, pursue a life of purity and faithfulness, as commanded in 1 Peter 1:13-16.]
Frequently Asked Questions
What does God mean by 'prostitution' in Ezekiel 43:9?
In this context, prostitution refers to the Israelites' spiritual adultery, where they turned away from God to worship idols, as seen in Ezekiel 23:37 and Jeremiah 3:8-9. This spiritual unfaithfulness is what God wants them to remove from their lives.
Why does God mention 'funeral offerings for their kings' in this verse?
The funeral offerings for their kings were a form of idolatrous practice that the Israelites had adopted, which God considers an abomination, as mentioned in Ezekiel 43:7-8. By removing these practices, the Israelites would be turning back to God and His ways.
What is the condition for God to dwell among the Israelites forever?
According to Ezekiel 43:9, God will dwell among the Israelites forever if they remove their prostitution and funeral offerings for their kings, which means they must turn away from their idolatrous practices and return to faithful worship of the one true God, as commanded in Exodus 20:3-5.
