Context — Josiah Restores the Passover
24Furthermore, Josiah removed the mediums and spiritists, the household gods and idols, and all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem. He did this to carry out the words of the law written in the book that Hilkiah the priest had found in the house of the LORD.
25Neither before nor after Josiah was there any king like him, who turned to the LORD with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his strength, according to all the Law of Moses. 26Nevertheless, the LORD did not turn away from the fury of His burning anger, which was kindled against Judah because of all that Manasseh had done to provoke Him to anger.Cross References

2 Kings 23:24 Summary
In 2 Kings 23:24, we see Josiah removing all sorts of false and harmful practices from Judah and Jerusalem, like mediums and idols, in order to follow God's law. This shows that Josiah was serious about obeying God, just like it says in Joshua 1:8 to meditate on God's law day and night. By removing these practices, Josiah was able to lead his people closer to God, as encouraged in Matthew 22:37-40, where Jesus teaches us to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind. This is an example for us today to examine our own lives and remove anything that might be leading us away from God, as warned in 1 Corinthians 10:21-22.
