The prophet Isaiah cautions against seeking answers from the dead, instead of the living God, in Isaiah 8:19. The apostle Paul also lists sorcery as a work of the flesh in Galatians 5:19-21, emphasizing the need for believers to turn away from such practices and follow the Spirit.

You must not turn to mediums or spiritists; do not seek them out, or you will be defiled by them. I am the LORD your God.
The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, and debauchery; idolatry and sorcery; hatred, discord, jealousy, and rage; rivalries, divisions, factions, and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. Haven’t you seen a false vision and spoken a lying divination when you proclaim, ‘Thus declares the LORD,’ even though I have not spoken? Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: Because you have uttered vain words and seen false visions, I am against you, declares the Lord GOD. My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and speak lying divinations. They will not belong to the council of My people or be recorded in the register of the house of Israel, nor will they enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord GOD.
