Leviticus 20:6 Summary
[Leviticus 20:6 warns us against seeking guidance from mediums or spiritists, which is a form of spiritual prostitution. This means that we should not try to get help or direction from people who claim to have special powers or knowledge from the spirit world (Deuteronomy 18:10-12). Instead, we should seek a pure and holy relationship with God, and look to Him for guidance and direction (Psalms 119:105, John 16:13-14). By doing so, we can avoid spiritual isolation and judgment, and remain connected to the body of Christ.]
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the significance of turning to mediums or spiritists in Leviticus 20:6?
Turning to mediums or spiritists is a form of spiritual prostitution, where an individual seeks guidance or power from sources other than God, which is strictly forbidden (Deuteronomy 18:10-12, Isaiah 8:19).
What does it mean to 'prostitute himself with them' in this verse?
To prostitute oneself with mediums or spiritists means to give oneself over to their influence and guidance, rather than seeking a pure and holy relationship with God (Leviticus 19:31, 1 Corinthians 6:18-20).
What are the consequences of turning to mediums or spiritists according to Leviticus 20:6?
The consequences of turning to mediums or spiritists are severe, as God promises to set His face against that person and cut them off from their people, resulting in spiritual isolation and judgment (Psalms 101:5, Matthew 25:31-46).
How can we apply the warning of Leviticus 20:6 to our lives today?
We can apply this warning by being cautious of any spiritual influences or practices that may lead us away from a pure and holy relationship with God, and instead seeking guidance from Scripture and the Holy Spirit (Psalms 119:105, John 16:13-14).
