According to Scripture, sinning is a willful act of disobedience against God's commands, separating individuals from a right relationship with Him. The book of James emphasizes that knowing what is right and failing to do it is a form of sin, as seen in James 4:17. The letters of John, such as 1 John 2:4 and 1 John 3:6, also address the seriousness of sin, contrasting it with a life of obedience and fellowship with God. Through repentance and confession, as encouraged in Acts 3:19 and Romans 10:9, believers can turn back to God and experience forgiveness and restoration.

Anyone, then, who knows the right thing to do, yet fails to do it, is guilty of sin.
If anyone says, “I know Him,” but does not keep His commandments, he is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
No one who remains in Him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has seen Him or known Him.
that if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, and debauchery; idolatry and sorcery; hatred, discord, jealousy, and rage; rivalries, divisions, factions, and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us walk in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying one another.
If we deliberately go on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no further sacrifice for sins remains, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume all adversaries.
I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.
The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise as some understand slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish but everyone to come to repentance.
Everyone who practices sin practices lawlessness as well. Indeed, sin is lawlessness.
It instructs us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live sensible, upright, and godly lives in the present age,
For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God,
Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. Put to death, therefore, the components of your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming on the sons of disobedience. When you lived among them, you also used to walk in these ways. But now you must put aside all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to one another, since you have taken off the old self with its practices, and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.
Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness!’
