11 verses

In God's sight, integrity and truthfulness are essential, as He values those who keep their word and fulfill their vows. According to Matthew 5:37, letting one's yes be yes and no be no reflects a commitment to honesty and simplicity. The wisdom of Ecclesiastes 5:4-7 cautions against making rash promises, emphasizing the importance of following through on commitments. Similarly, Numbers 30:1-2 underscores the importance of keeping vows, while 1 John 2:5 and Matthew 5:33 further emphasize the significance of being truthful and reliable in all interactions.

When you make a vow to God, do not delay in fulfilling it, because He takes no pleasure in fools. Fulfill your vow. It is better not to vow than to make a vow and not fulfill it. Do not let your mouth cause your flesh to sin, and do not tell the messenger that your vow was a mistake. Why should God be angry with your words and destroy the work of your hands? Nor should you swear by your head, for you cannot make a single hair white or black. Simply let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ Anything more comes from the evil one.

Or if someone swears thoughtlessly with his lips to do anything good or evil—in whatever matter a man may rashly pronounce an oath—even if he is unaware of it, when he realizes it, he is guilty in the matter. If someone incurs guilt in one of these ways, he must confess the sin he has committed,
I have hidden Your word in my heart that I might not sin against You.
How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to Your word.
