In our interactions with others, the Bible teaches us to be mindful of the words we speak, using them to edify and uplift those around us. As Ephesians 4:29 instructs, our conversation should be seasoned with salt, gracious and beneficial to those who listen. Colossians 4:6 and 1 Peter 1:15 encourage us to let our speech be filled with grace and to conduct ourselves in a way that is respectful and holy. By putting away corrupt and unwholesome talk, as Ephesians 4:22 advises, and being wise to the divisive nature of some conversations, as warned in Romans 16:17, we can create an environment of kindness and understanding.

to put off your former way of life, your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires;
Now I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who create divisions and obstacles that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Turn away from them.
All of us also lived among them at one time, fulfilling the cravings of our flesh and indulging its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature children of wrath.
He who sacrifices a thank offering honors Me, and to him who rights his way, I will show the salvation of God.”
Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good conduct, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.
For many deceivers have gone out into the world, refusing to confess the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist. Watch yourselves, so that you do not lose what we have worked for, but that you may be fully rewarded. Anyone who runs ahead without remaining in the teaching of Christ does not have God. Whoever remains in His teaching has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you but does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your home or even greet him. Whoever greets such a person shares in his evil deeds.
