5 Bible Verses on Control Emotions

5 verses

As believers strive to live a life pleasing to God, they are called to manage their emotions in a way that honors Him. The apostle Peter encourages Christians to add self-control to their faith, as part of a process of spiritual growth described in 2 Peter 1:5-11. The Bible also teaches that believers should seek peace and avoid strife, as seen in Romans 12:18 and Matthew 6:13, where Jesus instructs His followers to pray for protection from temptation. Additionally, the fruit of the Spirit, including self-control, is a key aspect of the Christian life, as outlined in Galatians 5:22-23, and Proverbs 19:11 reminds us that overlooking an offense is a sign of discretion and wisdom.

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith virtue; and to virtue, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities and continue to grow in them, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But whoever lacks these traits is nearsighted to the point of blindness, having forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins. Therefore, brothers, strive to make your calling and election sure. For if you practice these things you will never stumble, and you will receive a lavish reception into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
If it is possible on your part, live at peace with everyone.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. ’
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
A man’s insight gives him patience, and his virtue is to overlook an offense.
