16 Bible Verses on Bullying

16 verses

The Bible teaches that we are to treat others with kindness and respect, rather than resorting to hurtful or intimidating behavior. In Leviticus, we are commanded to love our neighbors as ourselves, while in the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus instructs us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us, as seen in Matthew. The apostle Paul reminds us that we are not to take revenge, but instead leave room for God's wrath, as written in Romans. Additionally, 2 Timothy encourages us to stand up for what is right with courage and confidence, free from the fear that can lead to aggressive behavior.

Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against any of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.
You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor’ and ‘Hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Do not even tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even Gentiles do the same? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.
Do not avenge yourselves, beloved, but leave room for God’s wrath. For it is written: “Vengeance is Mine; I will repay, says the Lord.” On the contrary, “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink. For in so doing, you will heap burning coals on his head.”
If it is possible on your part, live at peace with everyone.
Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid or terrified of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that eternal life does not reside in a murderer.
There are six things that the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to Him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that run swiftly to evil, a false witness who gives false testimony, and one who stirs up discord among brothers.
If anyone claims to be in the light but hates his brother, he is still in the darkness.
Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me.
Let no unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building up the one in need and bringing grace to those who listen.
I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies.
Behold, all who rage against you will be ashamed and disgraced; those who contend with you will be reduced to nothing and will perish. You will seek them but will not find them. Those who wage war against you will come to nothing. For I am the LORD your God, who takes hold of your right hand and tells you: Do not fear, I will help you.
You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye and tooth for tooth.’ But I tell you not to resist an evil person. If someone slaps you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also; if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well; and if someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.
Who is the man who delights in life, who desires to see good days? Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from deceitful speech. Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and His ears are inclined to their cry. But the face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to wipe out all memory of them from the earth. The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears; He delivers them from all their troubles. The LORD is near to the brokenhearted; He saves the contrite in spirit.
Rescue the weak and needy; save them from the hand of the wicked.
