In times of suffering, Scripture offers comfort and hope to believers. According to Psalms, God is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit, as seen in Psalms 34:17-20. The apostle Paul, who endured much affliction, wrote in 2 Corinthians 12:9 that God's power is made perfect in weakness, and in Romans 8:18, he noted that present sufferings cannot compare to future glory. Additionally, 1 Corinthians 10:13 reminds us that God will not give us more than we can bear, and will provide a way out of temptations and trials.

The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears; He delivers them from all their troubles. The LORD is near to the brokenhearted; He saves the contrite in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him from them all. He protects all his bones; not one of them will be broken.
Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him from them all.
But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest on me.
I consider that our present sufferings are not comparable to the glory that will be revealed in us.
No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide an escape, so that you can stand up under it.
Not only that, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, yet our inner self is being renewed day by day.
And we know that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose.
See how blessed we consider those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen the outcome from the Lord. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
For He has not despised or detested the torment of the afflicted. He has not hidden His face from him, but has attended to his cry for help.
For our light and momentary affliction is producing for us an eternal glory that is far beyond comparison.
The poor will eat and be satisfied; those who seek the LORD will praise Him. May your hearts live forever!
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, when you encounter trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Allow perseverance to finish its work, so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take courage; I have overcome the world!”
You have heard, O LORD, the desire of the humble; You will strengthen their hearts. You will incline Your ear, to vindicate the fatherless and oppressed, that the men of the earth may strike terror no more.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off every encumbrance and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with endurance the race set out for us.
I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise will always be on my lips. My soul boasts in the LORD; let the oppressed hear and rejoice. Magnify the LORD with me; let us exalt His name together. I sought the LORD, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to Him are radiant with joy; their faces shall never be ashamed. This poor man called out, and the LORD heard him; He saved him from all his troubles. The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him, and he delivers them. Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him! Fear the LORD, you His saints, for those who fear Him lack nothing. Young lions go lacking and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing. Come, children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD. Who is the man who delights in life, who desires to see good days? Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from deceitful speech. Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and His ears are inclined to their cry. But the face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to wipe out all memory of them from the earth. Evil will slay the wicked, and the haters of the righteous will be condemned. The LORD redeems His servants, and none who take refuge in Him will be condemned.
