The Unrelenting Humility of God by Carter Conlon

Topic: Humility
Scripture(s): Psalm 113:1-9, Revelation 4:5-8, 1 Samuel 6:12-19
Description: This message begins Scriptures on the holiness, power and might of God, and His requirement of worship of which He is worthy. From there, Pastor Conlon takes us on an incredible journey through the Old Testament and back to the New, illustrating through the Word the incredible humility this awesome God of unimaginable power has shown toward mankind. This is one of the best illustrations of the Lord Jesus Christ-it's not so much a sermon as a verbal portrait painted with love and care of our Lord that every Christian needs to hear. It will change how you deal with others and it will forever change how you see the Lord if you listen with an open and hungry heart. He goes through many Scriptures, so I'd recommend having a pencil and paper on hand.

(1 Samuel) What Happens by Chance by David Guzik

Topic:
Scripture(s): 1 Samuel 6:1-12
Description: After an amazing 7 months of affliction because of the Ark of God, the Philistines finally decide to send the Ark back to the people of Israel with an offering to show their humility towards the Lord. They had learned lesson from their Biblical history in that would no longer harden their hearts towards the Lord as the Egyptians had done inb the time of Moses. But before sending the Ark back they decided to perform on last test to see if what had happened was at the hand of the Lord or all the events had just happened by chance. They placed the Ark on a cart pulled by 2 milk cows, which had never pulled anything before in their lives, they took the cows from their calves, set them on a road they had never been on and sent them away with no driver. The philistines had 'stacked the deck' against God to see if it was actually Him who had punished them for these 7 months. So they stood back and watched in amazement as the cows took the exact route to Bethshemesh guided by the invisible hand of Almighty God, God will get His glory even if He has to glorify Himself.

(1 Samuel) The Holiness of God by David Guzik

Topic:
Scripture(s): 1 Samuel 6:13-21
Description: The Ark of the Lord returns to Israel and the people rejoice to see it in much the same way the dicsciple must have rejoiced to see the risen Lord Jesus, they offered a sacrifice unto the Lord using the wood from the cart and the cows that had pulled the cart back, these were expensive commodities in those days. However it wasn't long before the men of Bethshemesh became curious to know what was actually in the Ark, so they opened it and the Lord kiled them for it. This shows that there are some things that God has chosen not to reveal to us and it is sin to press God to try an find out things that He does not want to reveal to us. This judgement lead to a great fear spreading over the people as they realized the holiness of God, that God is not man and is far beyond us and thus is seperate from us. This is what attracts people to God because He is beyond us, but when people come to know Him and see his holiness and 'otherness' we become fearful as we are not holy before a holy God. But praise God there is someone who can stand between us and God, the Lord Jesus.

God Is Training A Holy Remnant by David Wilkerson

Topic: Remnant
Scripture(s): 1 Samuel 2:27,1 Samuel 3:11-21
Description: In these last days, God is doing a work that will impact the world. He is training a holy remnant that will be solely dedicated to God and His work during these last days. God is raising up a people who are committed to him and his cause who are a holy remnant, and who are steadfast and sure of their God. Eli was judged soft on sin and allowed wickedness in the tabernacle at Shiloh; even his own sons. Today, the church world is a laughing stock because of wickedness in the house of God, there is no power or spiritual authority, no presence of the Lord in many churches. But there is an unseen remnant of people, who would surprise you, because they are not prominent, or well known, but they are shut in with and hearing a word from God. And the word is prepare, for judgment is coming.

Two Ministries Two Priesthoods by David Wilkerson

Topic:
Scripture(s): 1 Samuel 2:27-36
Description: From the "Call to Repentance" conference in Tifton, Ga. in 1986, this message looks at the ministries in the Church today and shows how they compare to two priesthoods in the Old Testament: the Zadok priesthood and the Abiathar (Eli) priesthood. We see that those of Zadok are righteous and concerned with holiness while those of Abiathar are concerned with gain and "minister to the people's idols." The text ranges through the ministries of Zadok and Abiathar in 1 and 2 Samuel and finishes with Ezekiel's vision of faithful Zadokite priests in God's new Temple (the Body of Christ).

Witchcraft In The Church by David Wilkerson

Topic:
Scripture(s): 1 Samuel 15:22-23
Description: This is not a message on actual witches pulling their hoodoo voodoo on the church but is a message that should bring conviction on a large part of the church population today. If you hate godly conviction and enjoy your lukewarm or cold state then pass this message by.

(1 Samuel) How to Be Rejected by God by David Guzik

Topic:
Scripture(s): 1 Samuel 15:17-35
Description: Samuel rebukes Saul for his and his pride, but Saul argues that he has indeed followed the Word of God, but this is because he was self deceived and goes even furhter as to blame the people for bringing back the animals for sacrifice. If these animals would have been sacrificed to the Lord as Saul desired it would have been a sacrifice of disobedience and the Lord would not have accepted it anyway, as to obey is better than sacrifice. The Lord could see Saul's heart in all this and saw how rebellious and stubborn he was for this the Lord had to reject Saul from being king over Israel, but even through all this Saul did not repent but begged for Samuel to honor him before the people, Samuel turned and worshipped the Lord as he knew that the Lord would deal with Saul and he no longer had anything to say to Saul. Agag king of the Amalekites was then brought before Samuel, but Samuel hacked him to pieces before the Lord and was unmerciful towards him as the Lord had commanded.

The Greatest Sin In The Church by Stephen Olford

Topic: Obedience
Scripture(s): 1 Samuel 15:22
Description: Stephen Olford shares a powerful message on the need for obedience to the voice of the Lord.  When Obedience Makes You Dance by Carter Conlon

Topic: Obedience
Scripture(s): 1 Samuel 15:22-23
Description: May 16, 2010 - "Obey God," the words of Evan Roberts that started the Welsh Revival. What would be the outcome if we would simply choose to obey God? At some point we have to realize that the same God who created the universe lives inside of us and will enable us to accomplish all that He's called us to do. There comes a time when God doesn't have to speak anymore because you already know what He wants you to do. God says put away the old man and put away the old nature. He is seeking for a man after His own heart who would simply walk in obedience with Him. Are you embracing something that God has clearly told you to put away? The word of the Lord to you today is obey God! Obedience is the beginning of the journey of dancing.

 Stubbornness by Carter Conlon

Topic: Stubbornness
Scripture(s): Exodus 16:26-28, Psalms 32:9, 1 Samuel 15:23
Description: May 27, 2007 - A stubborn person is a person who is fixed in purpose or condition, resistant to change and unreasonably obstinate. A stubborn person has an inner flaw and this inner flaw doesn't show until they are called to put all they are in the hands of God and walk in obedience. A stubborn person can appear humble, zealous and even excercise spiritual gifts, but there comes a certain point they can't get passed. They can't lay down their inner thoughts of the way things should be done and surrender to God's ways. God will allow a sense of emptiness come into our souls to get our attention. He is looking for a sincere heart to submit to the authority of His Word. When we choose to obey Him the power of sin and decay is cancelled in our lives. The only way out of stubbornness is to HUMBLE ourselves before God.

 Ancient Revival by L.E. Maxwell

Topic:
Scripture(s): 1 Samuel 4:1-3, 1 Samuel 7:3, Isaiah 42:5
Description: Brother Maxwell speaks on the main hindrance to revival in the Scripture, and the main hindrance today: our own sin. The reason we don't see God move is that we think that someone else besides us is blocking the moving of the Spirit. Included is a very interesting narrative about Dr. Ernest M. Wadsworth that documents his efforts for ministers to look inward to unblock the hindrance to revival, as well as many angry church members that called him during the week after being told to 'make your crooked places straight.' "I went to the office of the mayor and was ushered into a private room. After I was seated, he said, 'I heard your sermon yesterday morning, now; man to man, I want to know who's been telling you about me?'"

(1 Samuel) The Raiding of the Ark by David Guzik

Topic:
Scripture(s): 1 Samuel 4:1-11
Description: Here the Israelites are at war with their neighbours the Philistines, who had superior military technology for that time due to their widespread trade routes. After suffering a crushing defeat of 4000 men the leaders of Israel tried to persuade god to fight for them by bringing the Ark of the Covenant, this was a great mistake as they put their faith in the Ark of God and not in the God of the Ark. This displayed the vain superstitions the people of Israel were embracing at the time. The priests that brough the Ark tio the camp were the two sons of Eli who the Lord had already declared were under judgement. When the Ark arrived their was a great shout in the camp and the Philistines became afraid as they knew that the Ark represented the God of Israel and that He was mightier than their gods, but despite this they did not submit to Him but fought the more viciously against the Israelites. Becasue God was not with Israelites they not only lost awefully but the Ark was taken and the sons of Eli were killed in the smae day, just as the Lord had said would happen.

(The Path Of The Ark #3) God Rejects Flesh by Ed Miller

Topic:
Scripture(s): 1 Samuel 4:1-6:18
Description: The public enemy number one was not the Philistines but the corrupt priesthood. The Philistines' capture of the Ark revolves around our natural man trying to make the Ark (Jesus) happy. God humbles us with plagues and does a mighty miracle to show us that there is no resting place for Him in our flesh.

The Table of the Lord by David Wilkerson

Topic:
Scripture(s): 1 Samuel
Description: From the "Call to Repentance" conference in Tifton, Ga. in 1986, this message shows what an honor it is to be invited to the Table of the Lord (prayer). It shows that failing to appear at God's table is an insult to God and brings weakness to us. (Also of interest is Wilkerson's mention of George H. Warnock, who is also listed on this site, and his reading of a letter he had received from Warnock.)
