Omnipotent

1 sermons

In the Bible, the term "Omnipotent" refers to the all-powerful nature of God, signifying that He possesses unlimited power and authority over all creation. The word itself is derived from the Latin "omni" meaning "all" and "potens" meaning "powerful." This concept is illustrated in various passages throughout Scripture. For example, Revelation 19:6 proclaims, “Hallelujah! For the Lord God omnipotent reigns,” highlighting God's sovereign control over the universe. The omnipotence of God is further expressed in Jeremiah 32:17, where it states, “Ah, Lord God! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you.” This verse emphasizes that God’s power is not only vast but also capable of accomplishing anything, reinforcing the belief that He can intervene in human affairs and fulfill His promises. Additionally, Matthew 19:26 affirms this by showing Jesus stating, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Thus, the biblical understanding of omnipotence underlines God's ability to achieve His will and purpose throughout history and in the lives of believers.
