Moses And Jesus

1 sermons

Moses and Jesus represent two pivotal figures in the biblical narrative, each embodying God's covenantal relationship with His people. Moses, the great lawgiver, led the Israelites out of Egypt and received the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai, as recorded in Exodus 20. His role as a mediator between God and Israel is foundational, yet the New Testament reveals that Jesus fulfills and surpasses this role. In Hebrews 3:3, it is stated, 'For Jesus has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses,' highlighting that while Moses was faithful as a servant, Jesus is the Son over God's house. Furthermore, Jesus Himself affirms this in John 5:46, saying, 'For if you believed Moses, you would believe me; for he wrote of me.' This connection emphasizes that the law given through Moses points to the grace and truth revealed in Christ (John 1:17). Additionally, in Matthew 17:5, during the Transfiguration, God’s voice declares, 'This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him,' further establishing Jesus' authority over the law and prophets. Thus, understanding the relationship between Moses and Jesus deepens our appreciation for the continuity of God's redemptive plan throughout Scripture.
