Human Inadequacy

1 sermons

Human inadequacy is a profound theme woven throughout Scripture, illustrating the limitations of humanity in the face of divine holiness and grace. In Romans 3:23, we are reminded that 'all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,' highlighting our inability to attain righteousness on our own. This inherent insufficiency is further emphasized in 2 Corinthians 3:5, where Paul states, 'Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God.' Our attempts to praise and serve God often fall short of His glory, as expressed in Isaiah 64:6, which likens our righteous deeds to 'a polluted garment.' Yet, in our weakness, God's grace abounds, as seen in 2 Corinthians 12:9, where Paul learns that 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' The Gospel reveals that while we are inadequate, Christ's sufficiency covers our shortcomings, enabling us to approach the throne of grace with confidence (Hebrews 4:16). Thus, understanding our human inadequacy leads us to a deeper reliance on God's mercy and strength, reminding us that in our limitations, His power is magnified.
