Discipleship Principles

1 sermons

Discipleship principles are foundational to the Christian faith, emphasizing the call to follow Jesus and embody His teachings in our lives. Jesus, in Matthew 28:19-20, commands His followers to make disciples of all nations, highlighting the importance of teaching and baptizing as integral components of this mission. Discipleship involves not only learning about Christ but also living out His teachings, as seen in John 13:34-35, where Jesus instructs His disciples to love one another as He has loved them, establishing love as the hallmark of true discipleship. Furthermore, the reality of rejection in the discipleship journey is acknowledged in Luke 9:23-24, where Jesus calls His followers to deny themselves and take up their cross daily, reminding them that following Him may lead to trials and opposition. The principle of perseverance is also evident in Romans 5:3-5, which teaches that suffering produces perseverance, character, and hope, essential qualities for any disciple. Through these scriptures, we understand that discipleship is a lifelong commitment to grow in faith, endure challenges, and reflect the character of Christ in a world that often stands in opposition to His message.
