Christ's Fulfillment

2 sermons

Christ's fulfillment is a profound theme woven throughout the Scriptures, illustrating how Jesus embodies and completes the promises of God. In Hebrews 8:6, we learn that Jesus mediates a better covenant, established on better promises, which signifies the transition from the old covenant to the new, fulfilling the law and the prophets. This fulfillment is vividly depicted in Matthew 5:17, where Jesus states, 'Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.' Through His life, death, and resurrection, Christ not only meets the requirements of the law but also offers a new way of grace, as emphasized in Romans 8:3-4, where it is declared that God sent His Son to condemn sin in the flesh, so that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us. Furthermore, in Galatians 3:24, we see that the law serves as a guardian until Christ came, highlighting His role as the ultimate fulfillment of God's redemptive plan. As believers, understanding Christ's fulfillment encourages us to grow in grace and live in the freedom He provides, as taught in 2 Peter 3:18, urging us to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
