Ascendancy

The term "ascendancy" is not explicitly used in most translations of the Bible; however, its concept can be found throughout scripture, particularly in contexts that deal with authority, power, and spiritual dominance. Ascendancy refers to the state of being in a position of power or influence, which can be understood biblically in terms of God's sovereignty over creation and the spiritual realm. For example, Psalm 24:1 states, "The earth is the Lord's, and the fullness thereof," emphasizing God's ultimate authority and position over all.In the New Testament, the concept of ascendancy can also be seen in the teachings of Jesus regarding the Kingdom of God. In Matthew 28:18, Jesus declares, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me," signifying His ascendancy over all powers and dominions. Additionally, believers are called to live in the light of this authority, as seen in Ephesians 2:6, where Paul states that Christians are "seated with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus." This illustrates the idea of spiritual ascendancy that believers can aspire to through their relationship with Christ, implying that they hold a position of influence in the spiritual realm through faith and obedience.
