Now let's read in John chapter 9. And here was a man who was blind from his birth. The Lord Jesus opened his eyes and the Pharisees and others and neighbors, they were concerned about how it really happened and in verse 10 Therefore said they unto him How were thine eyes opened? He answered and said a man that is called Jesus. That was a simple answer and then he told how the Lord Jesus did it.
Let's go over to Acts chapter 16 Acts chapter 16 Paul and Silas were improperly imprisoned and in verse 25 It says and at midnight Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises unto God and the prisoners heard them and suddenly there was a great earthquake so that the foundations of the prison were shaken and Immediately all the doors were opened and every man's bands were loosed and the keeper of the prison Waking out of his sleep and seeing the prison doors open He drew out his sword and would have killed himself supposing that the prisoners had been fled But Paul cried with a loud voice saying do thyself no harm for we are all here then he called for a light and sprang in and came trembling and fell down before Paul and Silas and Brought them out and said sirs what must I do to be saved and they said believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved and Thy house that means of course that his house would be saved the same way if they also trusted the Lord Jesus Christ Now because it's my first time with you. I'm going to tell how God saved me But I want to emphasize something that in doing that. I hope it will be a help to someone here tonight When people tell how they are saved it is really not just for information about the individual It's not just to help them get to know that person.
Although usually that happens when they tell how they were saved But it is perhaps my purpose is that it may help some of you who are not yet saved That it may give you some insight into what I struggled with and maybe you have struggled with the same thing And maybe it will be enlightening and helpful and it would be wonderful if through this meeting Someone tonight were to be saved I remember a group of young people at a conference one weekend in the home where I was staying They told how they were saved and before that Time together was over someone else was saved. So that's the purpose It's not just to tell you a little bit about myself and I'm exercised tonight about it that I tell those things Which are really? Particularly helpful and may be helpful even to those who are younger I told you this morning that I'm 55 years of age just to get that problem out of the way I don't like people doing mathematics when they're supposed to be listening to a gospel meeting and so that solves that problem I was born in 1943 What most people don't know and they seem a little surprised about it is that I was born in Belfast in Northern Ireland now I got out of there before it affected me not like some of the rest of my brethren and so that's why you don't really notice that I was 10 when we left Ireland and Came with my parents actually my father came in 1952 to Hamilton came really to Midland, Ontario First which is north of Toronto about two hours and then moved to Hamilton and when he was settled there he sent for the rest of the family and we came in April of 1953 Now my parents were saved before they were married. They were saved and went to a Baptist Church in Belfast in Northern Ireland and I remember going there with them the first few years until I was six years of age and then they went to a gospel hall in the city of Belfast and We went to one place and then to another when it I think started perhaps I'm not sure about that I'd have to check But we started going to the gospel hall Now what I did was when I was very young I Told people I was saved and I wasn't and I knew I wasn't I Don't know why I did that I Think likely somebody just asked me sometime.
Are you saved? I said I was and then when you make the story up you got to stick with it. And so I told them I was saved Well, then they would ask When were you saved? So I made up a date to go with it and I wanted a date that I could remember and so every boy remembers his birthday And so I said I was saved on my birthday on February 3rd When I was six years old in 1949 It was a story They asked how were you saved and I made up a story to go with it So, you know we preach in the gospel hall and it is true You have to have a time a place and a manner how and I had all of those but I still wasn't saved because you can have that and still have nothing you need a Savior and So I Told them that when my mother reached me a birthday present. I Realized that that moment that that's just like God's salvation It's a free gift that someone else has paid for and you just take it and that's true about God's salvation But it wasn't true about me But that's what I told them and that made everybody happy and they left me alone Now I didn't really plan it.
I don't think I didn't make up my mind I'm gonna lie about this, but I think I was embarrassed and you know Some people buttonhole others and that's something I've never done and I don't ever plan to do Buttonhole people about salvation. I'm not saying it's wrong if other preachers do it and they can get away with it and That's up to them. But maybe because of my experience it's not my practice to kind of hang on to somebody's hand at the door and Ask them if they're saved and kind of make them squirm a little bit before I let go I've never practiced that But that's what I told people and And I knew that I wasn't saved I can remember worrying about it I always wanted to be saved.
It was it was something that never left me I don't have a story like some of these preachers have where they got into blood and gore and all kinds of things The worst thing I ever did and it wouldn't be a problem these days is I chewed gum in Grade five and I got the strap for it Those were the old days when you weren't allowed to chew gum and anywhere I was at an assembly a while back I haven't noticed it here That's why I'm saying it I wouldn't if I noticed it and I said to them after a meeting one night I said, you know, I thought I was preaching in a cow pasture tonight. I Said all I see is these miles going I mean, I think 75% of the people chew gum in that place And I said I never preached before feeling like I was in a cow pasture but that's what it felt like but in school I I Got the strap for chewing gum. I was not out in the world I was too afraid to go out there.
Not that I didn't have the same heart. I have told people that I'm a prize pig You know some pigs go out and they roam all over the place and root and get muddy But when a farmer has a pig that he's going to take to a fair for showing he kind of keeps it in and I was like that. I was kept in but I still had the same heart as everybody else the heart is deceitful above all things and Desperately wicked and I am never surprised at anything that anybody else does Because I know that within my heart I could do anything that any human being has ever done and all I say day by day is Preserve me Oh God for in thee do I put my trust? every human heart has the Capability of doing anything that any human being has ever done at any time in the history of this world The heart is a deceitful thing and we may not think so, but I am never shocked Anymore, and I don't make a practice of saying what would ever make them do that? Because I know what would make them do that because I have felt it right in here sometimes in my own heart now.
I Was kind of tired of this false profession. I always wanted the real thing In fact just to tell you a little bit about it. I remember I believe it was mr. Norris I will have to ask him sometime, but I kind of recall him having gospel meetings in the Bloomfield Gospel Hall in Ireland and Listening to him preach and determining one night that when I got to the door I would stop and ask the preacher to tell me how I could be saved and I can remember standing up getting out of my chair and walking toward the back and Losing my courage as I got there and just kind of went on out But I always longed to be saved and listen I would say to children here tonight or older ones if you have a longing to be saved Don't be afraid to make it known.
I put myself through a miserable time and it was so unnecessary and Preachers They have a heart and Christians here tonight. They have a heart and If you have questions It will thrill their heart to sit down with you and talk to you about it You don't need to be afraid of anybody. You might say well the questions I have are so dumb listen Every one of us go through the same thing we all do and I'll tell you that in a minute or two But I went through six months of wanting to be saved and I know there's the sovereignty of God But I believe I could have shortened that if I just talked to somebody about it But I was gonna figure it all out for myself Because I was embarrassed and I'll tell you why we came to Canada in 1953 my father had told everybody I was saved So when I got into my first Sunday school class my teacher, mr. Murdoch He said I hear you're saved and I thought here we go again I thought I would leave it behind in Ireland, but it got there ahead of me Well, he asked me to tell how I was saved and I know Sunday school teachers shouldn't have favorites But I know I was his favorite because I was saved and the rest weren't he would secretly give me birthday gifts And cards that he didn't give the others and sometimes he would tell them that I was gonna tell how I was saved And I'd sit there and tell a whole of class that I was saved and how I was saved and it wasn't true.
I Don't know if I did this purposely, but I wouldn't be surprised when it came to Sunday school verses you had to say a verse every week and he would start on the left and Go around the square because we had little We had chairs sat in squares throughout the the building like this and we would Have our classes all in the same room Well, he would start on the left and I never memorized verses But by the time I they got around stumbling through their verses Well, I knew mine and he would put his hand on my knee I can almost still feel it was one of those padded hands like farmers have Because they use their muscles so much and he would put his hand on my knee and he said I can always count on you And I thought to myself. Yeah, as long as you go from left to right you can count on me and I said my verse every week Providing he did that and he never varied and I'm glad he didn't But it was all it was all false and I want to tell you underneath It was uneasy and it was uncomfortable and I knew that it would never Do for eternity and I I'm not trying in any way to stir up anybody here tonight who's not saved But listen, unless you get the real thing And I say this kindly and tenderly you will be in hell Because you have to be born again Really born again Not just a time a place in a manner how you can have all that I had that that won't take you to heaven You need a Savior to take you to heaven But I want to tell you that there is a Savior now I don't know if there are any visitors here tonight And so I can't assume that everyone has heard this before So I'm gonna take a minute and just tell you what we're talking about tonight in case you're wondering what is all this about anyway? There's a real heaven and a real hell The Bible teaches that the Lord Jesus spoke of both The Lord Jesus said himself in John 14 and 6 I am the way the truth and the life No man cometh unto the Father, but by me if you want to be in heaven, it is not by works We Do not believe in the Bible does not teach that a person gets into heaven by doing the best they can it is not salvation by anything you and I do and the problem is that that's so common and So usually believed that people don't even get it when we say it. So I'm saying it again You could read your Bible for the rest of your life With devotion and interest and that would never save you It's not by works there was a man who lived in the next town from us and I Calculated by what he told me that he had read in his Bible not through of course.
He had read in his Bible 70,000 times And he still did not know he was going to be in heaven or not did not Because reading your Bible doesn't save you. It's God uses it, but it's like a roadmap when I leave here if I were to Say I need directions to a certain place and brother Hendrickson were to give me directions and I go out to my car and I sit and I look at that map and He kind of watches because he's gonna wave goodbye and he sees me sitting there and sitting there and sitting there And he finally comes out and says everything. All right I say, yeah, I'm just reading the map because I want to go where you told me I'm going That map doesn't take you anywhere.
You got to turn on the engine and you got to get going the same with God's salvation This is the map The Lord Jesus is the way and this shows us the way to him Salvation is not by Bible reading by prayer. It's not by church membership I remember visiting with brother Medcalf one day in Wallisburg, Ontario In Canada, and he said to me after he'd knocked on doors all afternoon and I had to and we came back and met later He said, you know, he said the devil has some beautiful children. I Is not salvation see our sins our sins deserve divine punishment and If I got what I deserved for my sins, I would be in hell tonight so I needed a savior to take my place someone who would take payment for my sin and the Lord Jesus left Heaven and he suffered for sin the moment.
I trust him. I come into the good of that He did not pay for all He provided for all Payment is not made until you trust him Provision is made. I don't believe in a limited atonement.
I believe that the Lord Jesus provided for the whole world But it's like having a meal if you're invited out for supper and maybe some of your family members and This lady has a table set for 12 She has provided for 12, but if you don't show up, you don't get the good out of it So the provision is there but until you personally take it, it's not yours That's like God's salvation. The provision is there for you tonight For everyone in this gathering and for the whole world But you have to take it for yourself personally It's a personal salvation and if you believe that you can Be saved by works, then you won't take the provision God has made So what we're telling people tonight is you can be sure of heaven 100% you can know it you could leave this gathering tonight knowing that your sins are all Gone and that heaven is your home. And if you were to die tonight, you would be in heaven before people could check your pulse Now I Knew that I knew I needed to be saved from hell I knew knew I needed to have eternal life if I was ever going to be in heaven I remember being troubled about that because even though I had this story I Wanted the real thing I want to be saved and I would try at different times to be saved I remember the first time I was really convicted that I wasn't saved We came to Canada as I mentioned in 1953 and We went to a conference.
I think it was that year and I remember my father Introducing me to a man because all the Christians had heard about mr. Beattie's family coming over to Canada So he took us around introduced us to different people at the Toronto conference and the man looked at me and he said to me are you saved and It just stopped me right there He had what I call rifle eyes They just kind of bored right through you and he looked at me in such a way that I lost everything I thought I had and When I left my father said to him, why didn't you tell the man how you were saved And I thought to myself I didn't say to my father I thought because I'm not And I can still remember that in fact recently well in the last two or three years I was at a funeral and someone introduced me to this lady and She mentioned her maiden name and I said was your father so-and-so And that was this man. She said yeah, I said, you know I said I wish I had seen him because he's gone home to heaven now But I thank God that he ever awakened me to realize That I didn't have a thing. I knew it, but I'll tell you something You can get used to going down to hell And I fear for those who are raised in a Christian home Because it's a message that just kind of runs off Christians children like water off a duck's back You're so used to it that you hear it and you don't hear it And I believe that every person who's ever saved hell in some way becomes real to them and It did to me not that I was terrorized, but I faced the fact that I'm going down to hell But going back to this time period Shortly after that there was a young man and he was not particularly spiritual He was saved and I say that about him kindly because he would say that about himself So I'm not telling something about him that he wouldn't say.
I recently had a visit with him. I hadn't seen him for years But back around that time we were walking together in the city of Hamilton And I can still remember the spot because it really shook me up That was the next time I was kind of shaken up shook up about my Sins, and he looked at me and he said to me Jim. Tell me how you were saved and I told him and he said you're not saved at all Just like that and I was so dumb if I can say that that I made up another story right there on the spot to please him can you imagine and I hadn't seen him for years many many years since pretty well since teenage and last two years ago, I was in Agra Falls, Ontario and I knew he lived in that area So I looked in the phone book and here there was only one person by that name in the whole region I mean as several hundred thousand people and there was only one person by that name And I called him on the phone and asked him if he there was the Bob Price who used to live in Hamilton And he said he was and I told him who I was and he was so happy I said can I have a visit with you and I had a visit with him And I said I want to thank you for something that I've never thanked you for and I told him about that day of course He didn't remember it Particularly, but I thought to myself because he's struggling still in his life I said brother I said every person who gets blessing from my life You share in that Because you're part of my life and it was such a happy time to spend time with him and just give him a little Boost and an encouragement because of the blessing he had been to me and I would say this To those of you who are here tonight, maybe a Christian's child and you're not saved If someone does talk to you about your soul, and you don't think they should have bothered and you didn't like it keep in mind that they really care about you I Guarantee that if someone walked through this door tonight, and they had a genuine check for a million dollars and They said to the Christians Let's say they walked up here without even being asked and they said to the Christians I got a check for a million dollars that I'll give to you or you could have one soul saved now We know we they couldn't do that.
But if they had that if we could if they could give us that kind of choice without hesitation Every Christian here would say forget the million. We want a soul save because they know what matters and So even if they're a little bit maybe pushy with you. Don't worry about it they love you and they want the best for you and they long to see your soul saved and When I got into the year 1957 I would have loved for someone just to come up to me and say Jim.
Would you like to be saved? Because I really wanted it badly at that point in time now in the summer of 1957 I Was wanting to be saved. I don't know if it was at that time But I remember doing this one night Remember getting out of bed because my Mother and father of course were saved and I went across the landing upstairs where the between the bedrooms and I knocked on my mom and dad's door and Mother said come in and I opened the door and then I closed it again She said to me before I did. She said what do you want? I said, oh nothing and You know what? I wanted I Wanted to know they were still there And can I say something? To you who are not saved the Lord Jesus Christ is really coming And I am amazed at the changes That there are in this world.
We are getting ready for the coming of the Lord now. We were always ready But I want to tell you this electronic age is certainly preparing things for the Antichrist You think about it think about it with me for a minute I Can take a card that I have in my pocket and I can go anywhere in North America and I can take money out of my bank account Back at home and over here. I can't do it across in the US yet But the time will come when I can use my debit card.
We hardly write checks anymore We just go to the grocery store convenience store and they just zip the card through and It takes money out of your account and they say they're already working with chips that they're implanting in people checking it out that you can go before the scanning system and just put your hand over it and You the time will come when you will not be able to buy or sell Unless you have some kind of a mark. It's here It's here John The Apostle John who wrote about 2,000 years ago There was nothing like that around We are living in the time when this is possible. In fact, I have a cell phone and I got a the last billing that I got It told me and this is not something for the future This is something for now that if I owned a certain model of General Motors Vehicle which I don't I have a Volkswagen but if I owned a General Motors and I was stuck outside my car and the car keys were inside I could just call on my cell phone and they would open the door by satellite That is something that exists right now They would actually Wherever the satellite is buzzing around the earth and my cars on the ground They would open the door by satellite and I could get my get going again we live at the edge of the coming of the Lord and If the Lord Jesus came tonight, it wouldn't surprise the Christians here, but I want to tell you it would break our hearts to leave you behind and It could be at any moment We could be gone and That scared me Because if you're left behind there'll be no more chance.
There's no second chance Tells us in 2nd Thessalonians chapter 2 That those are left behind who have rejected the gospel They will believe a lie You will accept the mark of the beast and the Antichrist and you won't even dream that there's anything Wrong with it and it'll damn your soul It is a real thing. The Lord's coming and he's coming soon And that scared me In the summer of 1957. I was with a group of boys Those boys were not raised in Christian homes and Every one of them professed to be saved now whether they really were saved or not.
I don't know never saw them again But I remember excuse me, I remember thinking these boys have never heard the gospel and I could tell them how And my simplest in my simplicity at that time. I believe they were saved and I thought these boys have been raised in a home Where they're not Christians and here I know the gospel and I'm going down to hell and they've got it And I remember one boy he was maybe French Canadian I don't know their emotional a little more emotional than the English Canadians, and I don't say that as a criticism it's just a matter of fact everybody knows that and I've nothing against emotions anyway, but Before French he professed to be saved we would throw pillows at him and we could really get him worked up and He would get his hunting knife out and he would be knifing the pillows as we were sending in his direction but after he professed to be saved he was as quiet as quiet could be and I thought that boys changed and that really spoke to me. I Thought something's happened in his life because we couldn't make him mad no matter how hard we tried and we tried our best And I remember one night particularly I was lying in the bed in that little cabin and Struggling about facing the fact that I was not saved in fact two years ago I was up in that area of northern Ontario and I drove down a dirt road and I stopped at an office Place because it was private property, and I said to them.
I said I was here when I was a boy would you mind if I Roamed around a little bit. They said no, that's fine. I said I'm looking for a cabin I told them where it was and they said well all those cabins are on the left side We don't use those anymore But you're welcome to look around and I went over and I stood Parked my car, and I looked up on the hillside, and I said there's the place And I walked up there walked in through the cabin door and recognized it all again and There was a spot where God really dealt with me It was on a bed the beds were gone of course the cabins were empty But on that right-hand side on the lower bunk they were bunk beds there were four bunk beds Down there in that corner I Finally faced the fact that I was not saved I Remember thinking you are saved you believe no you don't you just made that up Well, yeah, but I understand it now.
No you don't understand it You're lost. No. I'm saved Well, I know how to be saved.
I'll get saved right now, and I was trying to argue I thought with myself. I realized now it was God was dealing with me, but I didn't know that then I just thought I was having an argument in my head But that night I faced the fact that I was not saved I want to say before you're ever going to be saved you'll have to face up to the fact that you're lost No one ever gets saved thinking they're saved already You can argue all you want with yourself But before you're saved you're gonna have to say in some form or other not Necessarily in these words, you're gonna have to say I'm lost Now I was so embarrassed about it that I thought I'm gonna get this settled all by myself and That's why I read the verses that I did number one John chapter 9. How are thine eyes open? I'm telling you tonight how God opened my eyes in Acts 16 I thought well, I'll understand that verse believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved So what I did was I would say the verse and I'll tell you how blind I was people would preach the gospel and People would tell their testimony, and I'd listen. I think well if they'd tell their testimony Maybe I can get saved the way they got saved So I'd listen and sometimes a man would say you know I read that verse once you've heard them say it and Nothing happened.
I read it the second time Still nothing happened, but when I read that verse the third time I saw So I would take that verse that they had I'd go home And I think well you read it twice quickly because it doesn't happen on the first time in the second time It happens on the third time and the third time I would read it slowly Do you know what I was doing? And I'll explain this to you now because it'll help maybe some who are not saved to understand I Was making works out of salvation Because I figured I can do this I can make this happen Now others would say you know I read this verse and it popped out at me, and I was so dumb I didn't know what popping meant. I didn't think it had a spring underneath the verse But somehow I figured something happened and so I'd read the verse and I wait for it to pop and it never did People would say it's only a step to Christ And I can remember closing my bedroom door making sure everybody was downstairs and out of the way And I would stand with both feet together, and I would say It's only a step to Christ. I'm coming now, and I would take one step I wouldn't take two because I figured that would spoil it.
It was one step to Christ they said it's only one step to Christ and Really, that's true, but what they mean is trusting Christ But I figured it's just one step They would say rest in Christ, and you'll be saved and I can still remember the chair I sat in and I get all tight and Then I'd say I'm gonna rest now, and I would lie back and kind of just relax And I thought I was resting and nothing happened. I was working so hard to do nothing so I could be saved and I would take John Acts 16 and 31 and I would say believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved and I'd say okay. I'm gonna believe right now and I figured people said you know it felt so good when I got saved what they really meant was I Was saved and then after that I felt good Because naturally if you get a gift you feel good about it But you don't feel good to get a gift you can do all the feeling you want a lot of children at Christmas time They get all excited and and lots of feelings about what they're gonna get and they never get it So feelings don't give you the gift, but that's what I figured I thought they that's what they said so I would say right now.
I'm gonna believe and I wait for a feeling and somehow in my mind really I'm not fooling I thought it was on your spine, so I kind of in my mind was thinking well I'm waiting sometimes I thought something did happen and I worked in a shoe store part-time while I was going through high school And I go down the basement And I would into the furnace room And I would work over this salvation business And then when I thought I got it I'd come up and I'd be working away And I'd be humming and smiling at people I'd be humming Oh happy day, and I was hoping somebody would ask me what happened I tell him I was saved and I wasn't saved at all and all that time. I was trying to make it happen You know what I didn't know Believe it or not. I didn't know the work was done You don't have to do a thing to be saved the work is done It's a matter of trusting Christ trusting him, but see with with Acts 16 and 31 it says believe on the Lord Jesus Christ now shall be saved, and you know what I did I Took The Lord Jesus Christ right out of that verse not purposely but in my thinking and I thought believe and be saved and I Tried to make a Savior out of believing I tried to believe the right way and believe the right thing and it was all believing And I remember coming to New Year's Day 19 January 1st 1958 And we had an all-day meeting In the afternoon I was sitting two rows from the front.
I believe it was the second chair in and I was just sitting there thinking about the past few months because since the summer of 57 till now I had tried all the things people said you were supposed to do to be saved and nothing happened and I was just sitting there, and I looked up at the preacher And I thought there's no use my listening to him Because he's preaching to the Christians, and I'm not a Christian and so I was just lost in my own thoughts And I thought well I tried to rest That doesn't work. I've tried to come I Don't know how to come And I tried to see Christ on the cross that was another thing I tried to do I tried to Put an image in my mind of Christ on the cross. I don't know how to do that and I finally as I sat there.
I said to myself here I am and I'm going down to hell, and I can't do a thing about it Well, that's where God wanted me to come to he wanted me to face the fact that I was a helpless lost sinner and Right at that moment without anything spectacular happening. I want to avoid giving that impression The verse came back to my mind believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved But this time I saw that it was the Lord Jesus Christ, and I thought to myself Oh, it's not believing. It's Christ that saves It's Christ who saves and Right then without even thinking much about it.
I trusted him Because I understood it was Christ, and I was looking in a sense looking at Christ I wasn't looking at my believing. I wasn't looking at my feelings. I wasn't thinking about myself.
It just dawned on me Oh, it's not believing. It's Christ You know the problem is salvation is so simple that we stumble over it The Hard part by the way is facing the fact that we are helpless And I want to tell you it is a struggle especially I would say Christians children have a big struggle with it And I understand why because we have to find out we're lost just like the worst sinner That's ever lived see I know some people and if you tell them they're a sinner They will only even though they're not saved they'll say amen because they know how bad they are But we're raised in the Christian home We maybe get into some things but not like the world and it's hard for us to see how lost we really are But that moment I saw that it wasn't believing it was Christ and that settled it I want to tell you tonight the work is done. It's all finished There is really nothing left for you to do and if you will trust Him I want to emphasize that I didn't say if you will trust I Said if you will trust him the emphasis is on the him Trust him He'll take all your sins away, and you can start for heaven shall we pray Our father we thank thee for everyone in this company who can really address thee as their father We thank thee for every person here who is a true Child of God, and we would pray for those that are not saved tonight Father we pray that even tonight thou wouldst be pleased to save a soul thou art able We would long to see thy hand and blessing We know that there are some here tonight that are a burden upon the hearts of friends and family And we would pray for them pray that thou would save now We pray for safety as we travel homeward We commend ourselves to thee for thy keeping for the night in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ amen Let's take time just to sing a couple of verses of 143 143 in fact there may be time to sing three verses out of the four Number 143 was it for me for me alone the Savior left his glorious throne The dazzling splendors of the sky was it for me? He came to die.
We'll sing verses 2 3 & 4 of 143 Was it for me? sweet Beauty For me It was for me yes So great so free O wondrous love, I'll shout and sing, He died for me, my Lord the King. Was it for me He wept and prayed, When prospering the garden laid? That night within, yes, heavenly, Was it for me, glad and young he? It was for me, yes, all for me, O love of God, so great, so free. O wondrous love, I'll shout and sing, He died for me, my Lord the King.
Was it for me He bowed His head, Upon the cross and freely shed? His precious blood, that crimson tide, Was it for me, the Savior died? It was for me, yes, all for me, O love of God, so great, so free. O wondrous love, I'll shout and sing, He died for me, my Lord the King.
