Luke 1:35, "The angel answered, 'The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.'" John 6:69, "And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God." God placed His stamp on this child that He was Holy, the Son of the Living God. In Jesus we see Him as the Holy One and divine, but also as being human. We see the complete holiness from God. That holiness should be evident in our lives. Jesus was holy even when He was still a child. Let us have a good look at this holiness of Jesus today. Many a time we consider His forgiveness, love, omnipotence and power. But very often we forget His holiness. But it is crucial that we pay careful attention to His holiness. Isaiah saw the vision of God clothed in the robe of a judge, surrounded by the seraphims who cried out "holy holy holy is the Lord Most High". We might say that they must have cried out that God is love. In stead they proclaimed God's Triune holiness, Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Has this vision of God's holiness been revealed to you? When Isaiah saw this he cried out, "Woe is me! For I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips". His heart broke because of his own uncleanness. Then the angel took a burning coal from off the altar with tongs and touched his lips therewith and cleansed them. That coal was so hot that the angel had to use tongs to carry it. It must have burnt Isaiah's lips when it touched them. He couldn't have forgotten that experience for the rest of his life. We speak glibly of what the Lord had done for us, but it is completely different when we truly meet with His holiness. It is heartbreaking that we Christians so easily forget. We forget the promises we've made and soon do the exact opposite to what we have promised. It is a crime if someone promises to serve the Lord but soon afterwards do things that testify to the exact opposite. It is said that there are more than 30000 promises in the Bible yet there are still Christians that fail miserably in their Christian life and cannot overcome the world in their life. The Bible is full of the holiness of our Lord Jesus Christ. When Moses stood before the burning bush he heard God's voice, "take off your shoes from off your feet for the ground you are standing on is holy ground". If your Jesus is not the Holy One, consider carefully whether you are not perhaps serving another one whom you call Jesus. When a person meets with this holiness of God then that person is changed, his life is revolutionised. It doesn't matter whether you're white, black, Indian or Coloured, when you meet with this Jesus He transforms your life. Hebr 12:14, "Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord." Unless you have met with this holiness of God you will never see God. God said, "be holy for I the Lord am holy". We are called to live a holy life. If your Jesus doesn't change you to live a holy life you will not see God. We must walk in the light even as He is in the light. It is a high calling. Whatever nation you are from, God looks for that holiness in your life. In Thessalonians we read that God calls us to bodily, spiritual and emotional holiness, complete in Him. Even among a 100000 people it will be obvious whom the Lord had made holy. It will be obvious that God had worked His holiness in that life. 1Thes 5:23, "And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." Our lives must glorify God's Name, so that His Kingdom come and His will be done. Unless this is our goal we are hypocrites and pharisees. Rom 12:1, "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service." The Bible is full of verses like these where God reveals His will for our lives. God means what He says. We are not to take this word lightly. This is what God expects from us. We must now go and consider whether our lives correspond to this word, and if not repent and bring it into submission to Him.
