Sermon Transcription
Hello and welcome to this very special edition of, I call it special, of the edition of this Live at 9. And you know what? The reason I call it special is because the man of God I got in the studio here doesn't come here regularly. You have seen him on our channel, but this is the first time a lot of you will see him up close and personal. We're going to be asking questions to know what he thinks about so many things going on in the world and within the body of Christ. Thank God for his life. He's been on this journey for a long time. I consider him a general of the kingdom of God, and I thank God for his life, for the word of truth that he's been releasing into the body of Christ for so many years. And you know what? I want you to do me a favor because I know there are a lot of pastors out there, especially the younger ones and even the older ones, that will benefit from this interview today because he's going to share some very powerful truth that would open their eyes to what God expects a majority of us pastors to be doing, but what a lot of us are not doing. You know what? Call your pastor. Tell them that something special is about to hit the screen right now. They should tune in to this channel now, and I have no doubt in my mind they will be surely blessed. God bless you. The man of God I got here with me is called Pastor Joshua Daniel. He's the senior pastor of an organization known as Layman Evangelical Fellowship International. It's an organization that's got over a hundred centers across the whole world, and it's an organization that's radical in its approach of Christianity. They read the word of God, and they actually follow it to the letter, and some of you will say, well, it's not possible in this day and age to leave the word to the letter, and I'm telling you, you're about to hear about an organization that reads it, believes it, and acts it. So you know what? Whatever you do, don't touch that dial. Welcome to the program, sir. I'm glad to be here. We're really honored to have you in our studios here, because I remember so many years ago, about five years or so ago, you were at the other studio in London, but thank God you're here to see where God has actually brought us, and we thank God for your life, for being here, even for being here with us, it's wonderful. Well, you know, after a sleepless night traveling across the Atlantic, I did not quite know whether I would make it, but in season and out of season, the word of God should be declared, and therefore, there's no seasonal Christianity. Amen. I don't know how you manage, because every time I see you, you look either the same or even younger, because, you know, you still look fresh every day, so what do you eat? What is it, you know? Is there something special? I eat very little these days, but I find that I am profoundly ignorant of God's word, so I try to eat more and more of the word, the bread from heaven, the living word, and my passion and one desire, you know, New Year's resolutions are so many, and by this time, I suppose, most of them are broken or discarded, that's a long time already for some of them, however, there has been this one desire and longing and prayer, Lord, I want to be like Jesus. Amen. That's all my ambition. Wonderful. Nothing else. God bless you, sir. I was going through the material from your organization, and it talked about your early life as a Christian. It said that your parents were burdened by, about you, and you end up converting to Christianity after intense prayer. What, can you explain to us what that's all about? Now, I was a typical preacher's kid. You know what that means. We hear and hear and become hard as granite. You know, we can put on the act. We can be very pleasant and Christian-looking, but be full of the devil and his works. Well, now, in a measure, that's how I would describe my past before my conversion at 15. My parents had been called by the Lord, and both of them gave up comfortable positions and put all that they have into the hands of God. Well, what happened then was, when revival broke out in their ministry and thousands were repenting, I could see how men and women, pardon me, were so wonderfully transformed. Not only that, overnight, some of them became prophetic people, doing the works which were done by the early apostles. So, they began to impact a lot of others. Now, as I watched this happening, and I knew the vacuum in my own heart. I was a sportsman, and games were a big idol to me. You see, pursuing that inflated piece of leather, you know, that was a big deal to me, big thing to me. Well, however, I said, let me give God one chance. My parents would pray, and I would sleep at night, almost listening to their voices, in the next room or so, praying for me. And it was revival which broke out in the family. So, of the four children, the youngest was still very tiny, and all the rest were converted within two days. Conviction came upon us, and I had to repent, put everything right, because I was a great hypocrite. You see, just being like a chameleon, adjusting to the Christian environment, and living my own life. Very early, I got into pornography, which corrupted my mind. And the Lord convicted me of all these things, and He spoke to me. Your sins are forgiven. He made it so clear from His word. It was not just a feeling, it was not just an emotional high, nothing of the sort. There was no music in the background, you know, nothing. It was the Lord touching a sinner like me, and transforming me. Well, at 16, I started preaching, and the word of God began to convict people. Until, on some occasions, I could not handle the weeping of young people. Even if you had belabored them with a rod, some of them would not have shed a tear. They were stiff, proud, wicked people, coming under the hand of God. And now, these men began to pray. Prayer was the key. And we were disciplined in the realm of sport, many of us. But, if we were willing to forego so many things, and be disciplined for soccer, or cricket, or hockey, how much more for Christ? So, we would meet every day for prayer. First, individual prayer. You know, which is wanting. The Lord Jesus Christ said, Pray to your Father in secret, and your Heavenly Father, who heareth in secret, will reward you openly. Shut the door. Go into your closet. Shut the door. We don't shut the door these days. But, as young fellows, we did it. And the years passed quickly, and some of these men became medical missionaries. Others, as engineers, stood out against the bribery and the corruption, which we see in many departments of government, kickbacks. And they would, wherever they went, stand for the Lord. And so, it was not something which was manipulated. Something which was committee orchestrated. The committee under which we worked was, and is, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. A better committee you will never find. Amen. God bless you, sir. Then we know that somewhere along the line, you got involved in full-time ministry. Yes. But then, it's a strange ministry in the sense that you rely solely on people just being prompted by God to give. You don't go out soliciting funds the way a lot of churches in the western part of the world do. How are you able to do that, to sustain an organization that's spread across the whole world? Well, you know, God's supplies are always, He is the supplier. And we see how God told Abraham, Abraham, I am your seed and exceeding great reward. Just imagine. And he said, oh, I am childless. And I'm not likely to have a child. But this Eliezer who is born in my house, let him be my heir. But God said no. Now, the believing heart. Now, I'm sure, sir, you trust that chair on which you're sitting. That's right. I don't see you jittery about sitting on that chair, those four legs. You mean to say that this is all a figment of our imagination? Or it is something made up? Or do you, or anybody venture to say that God does not work today? He has lost his limbs lately. That can never happen. Suicide bomber bombed God? No. Nothing of the sort. His almighty hand is not shortened that it cannot save. So, my father, who had property, put it all into the hands of God. He said the Levites were told that God is their inheritance. Can anybody have a greater inheritance than God? And so, we acted on it. You know, it's not just something up in the upper story. We acted on it. And mark you, some of the people that were first touched by the revival were exceedingly poor people. My father, therefore, gathered them and taught them the word of God so that they could go and evangelize. Money never played a part. Jesus certainly didn't give money to his disciples when he sent them out. He said, I give you power over all the power of the enemy. And he gave them power to heal the sick and gave them the commission. Heal the sick. Cleanse the lepers. Raise the dead. Freely you have received. Freely give. Freely you have received. Freely give. So, am I to say, hey, I'm serving you. I'm giving this time for this interview. What will you pay me? No, such a thought doesn't come to me. You see, I'm here to serve. The Lord Jesus Christ came to serve. And serving my neighbor only ennobles me, lifts me closer to Jesus. Amen. Yes. Wonderful. And then, can you share with us one or two testimonies to the glory of God, of God's special provision? Because last time you were here, you shared about an old woman. And I've forgotten the story now, but I remember there was an old woman who did something extraordinary to actually get some money to the church, to the organization. Well, you know, no one is placed under any pressure or compulsion to raise funds or to give money. I actually tell people, even if you have brought a million, take it home. Unless you give God a broken and a contrite spirit first. Wow. Wow. Take it home. God does not want your money. He wants your heart. Wow. Isn't that clear enough? Who wants money? Money is the least thing that you can ask. What about all the volitional powers? What about all the dedication which people are capable of? They can give it to the soccer games. What dedication? Some of the fans will go to root or to cheer their teams right across the globe. And you mean to say that such dedication can't be produced by the cross of Christ? Wow. What are you telling me? I mean, I can't see. How can I ask for money? I want the will, the heart, and the whole person on the Lord's side. He has been on the devil's side all this while. And if he's not on the Lord's side, what's he trying to do? A balancing act or some oriental trick? What's he trying to do? No. The cross of Jesus Christ brings with it enablement. You see, a covetous man becomes a giving person. See, for instance, a surgeon whose whole aim appeared to be to make money heard my father preach, saying, What is the difference between you? You call yourself a Christian, go to church or whatever. What is the difference between you and a Muslim doctor or a Hindu doctor or any other doctor? What is the real difference? Now, this man was touched. He was challenged. And he repented. He went to the income tax and said, I'm here to put everything right with you. And then he said, God told him, You have robbed the poor, robbed the rich, and you have robbed me. So he said, I'm going to return my tithes and offerings to the Lord. And the upshot of this was, instead of being a rich man's doctor, a general surgeon, he became a poor man's doctor. And people could go into his clinic with hardly what you would call ten pennies and receive loving treatment. And what happens at some of our gospel clinics, as we now call them, is people are seated waiting for their turn to be called. They come in very sick. And they suddenly rise up and say, The Lord has, something has happened, I'm healed. Wow. And then they walk away. And what are we here for? For the money? No, we are here to heal. Wow, wow, wow. I've lost my patient, and so I've lost so much money. But why are you there in the first place? You see? So as I speak to many medical doctors, and I see people being transformed. And so they get their vocation and their commission from God. And so that's one person. But how many people he helped and blessed. That one surgeon. And how many young doctors he trained with a missionary heart, so that I literally gave a small train fare of say less than two pounds and said to a doctor, Go to that place and set up a ministry. Well, no return fare here, no return fare given. He went and a work began for the Lord in a seat of idolatry. And that young man has gone on, and he took up a position in Guyana, South America, one of the poorest countries. Their dollar is, a U.S. dollar will buy 220 of their dollars. And he went there to labor. And so we labor in that country, whereas the citizens of that country are running away, saying we would rather flip hamburgers in a McDonald's in America rather than do anything for this country. So when there is quite an exodus of such people, here are well-trained people going in to that poor country to lift that country. Wonderful. God bless you, sir. And last time, I still remember some of the things you shared last time you were here. You said something like, you were talking about churches that work so hard to raise a lot of money and make money. You said that the higher the, just in my own words, the higher the level of money that comes into the church, the lower the level of faith. Sir, really, I believe that preachers have gone down. The greatest criminals, I would say, are to be found today in our pulpits. Why? Why do I say that? If I know that I can lift you and I fail to do so, if I have the medicine to heal you and I refrain from giving it to you, what am I doing? I am an embedder with the devil to kill you. Now, am I, as a preacher, in the business of killing people? No, if I can't be an example, I am killing people. People, the sheep, follow the shepherd. And when there is prayerlessness in the preacher, covetousness in the preacher, you know, we should pay our bills. I try to be so careful about that. Defaulting, acting on deficit, Oh, no man anything save to love. That's the command of the word of God. And we cannot produce disciples, unless I am a disciple, quite evidently. Unless I am an example, be thou an example of the believers in word, in conversation, in faith, in purity, in charity, in love. If I am not going to be an example, what am I? Am I going to be an impediment? Yes, I am afraid. We can be a great impediment when we are prayerless. Wonderful. So what advice would you have for ministers, who as a result of being prayerless, and not being able to rely on God, are involved in these activities whereby they generate ideas, like say, come over for your deliverance, come for your healing, come for your baby, come for your wife, your husband, to use that as a base to generate funds. What advice would you have for those kind of people, because if they die, they might even miss heaven, isn't it? Well, you know, the Lord again and again warns us against covetousness. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, thefts, pride, blasphemies, covetousness, and foolishness. Now I am afraid, you know, when I use these devices to generate money, you know, what we are lacking in today is faith. Now I have had someone say to me, here is a person who said, I threw away my hearing aid in the healing service, but when I got home, I found that deafness had returned and I needed my hearing aid. Now, the Lord Jesus said, go and sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you. How? Imagine this man had been sick for 38 years, lying at that pool, 38 years. What can be worse than that? Go and sin no more. No, that's what we have to teach people. We are not teaching them. We are saying, hey, I have got quick magic here. You know, magic and magicians come to us and some of them who had practiced yoga and black magic, casting spells on people, receiving money to kill people, and so on. And when they meet the Lord Jesus Christ, they are totally transformed. Now, what have we done with that power that changes hearts? Are we here just to give them a thin veneer of paint? What are we here for? The miracle and mystery of spiritual conversion, we seem to have lost. Why? And if you don't have that, what do you have? You have a shell of a place. An empty shell. God's not there anyway. Wow. You have been preaching this message for over 60 years. Can you share with us in a nutshell what important lessons God taught you along the way? Now, pride, you know. The devil comes up to the pulpit and tells you, what a fine man, what a fine sermon you preached. I often go off the pulpit saying, Lord, recently I went off saying, Lord, this message is so incomplete. I am unworthy. You see, what does the Bible say? After you have done all, say, I am an unprofitable servant. Now, is it so hard to say that? I don't find it so. No, I am standing there to glorify God, to demonstrate God, to show forth Jesus. You mean to say that all these Tom, Dicks, and Harrys who have just been stirred up by some new radical fad can come and say, hey, we don't believe any of this. Must not the good Lord work with us? So, my confidence is only in his working, not in my working. What can I do? Tell me, what can I do? I can't turn one gray hair into a black one. Can I? Nor give myself my youthful hair. No. What can I do? So little, so limited. And am I going to push my Lord aside and say, I am the greatest, I am the latest? What rubbish is that? Now, therefore, what God taught me was to humble myself. And today, I see that to be the greatest need. I can't see why people can't humble themselves. They find it hard to say sorry. Selfishness, greed, pride, are breaking families, ruining relationships. Why do I know everything? Am I perfect? No. I am so unlike Jesus. And so, can't I acknowledge that? Can't I be humble? No. What prevents me from being humble? I see no difficulty. The devil teaches you to exalt yourself. Wow. You know, earlier on, we were talking about the state of the nations in the western part of the world. And you said something. You said the nations got where they are today in the west and across the whole world because the preachers in the land failed to preempt the plans of the devil. What do you mean by that? You know, we are taught today not just to react to a situation, but to be proactive. This is some new emphasis, of course, in industry everywhere. All right. The prophetic spirit shows us here are the seven lean years coming up and this is the time to make provision for those tough times ahead. Now, that's how God led Joseph. By giving him a prophetic spirit. He shall show you things to come. Now, we have been warned in advance. In the last days, men shall be lovers of their own selves. Heady, high-minded. All right. Now, what is the antidote to that? You know, really lack of prayer. You know, we cite materialism. Throw a bomb into a place and it blows your materialism. There is nothing there but rubble. All right. Now, how long are we going to pursue materialism? Now, for instance, the truths of the Reformation. Now, the truths of the Reformation, justification by faith. We have not got hold of it yet. We have departed from it. It is ceremonies that make a Christian. Or you do this, that and the other and you become a Christian. God is not in the picture at all. Now, the revival under Wesley in the 18th century saved England from a bloody revolution like took place in France. You know, the French Revolution is still bearing its unhappy fruit. Yes. Because, you know, like talking about the French Revolution, the unhappy fruit you said, it is kind of strange that yesterday, was it two days ago in the newspapers, they said they found that the French are the most miserable people in the world according to research. Is that right? Yes. Actually, when I preach in Paris, as I walk along the street, haggard, sad faces. I hardly see a person smile on the street. Interesting. They are not happy. Wow. And it is called the city of lights. Interesting. It does not light up anybody apparently. You know, I want to thank God for your life, but with what you have been sharing so far and what you travel around the whole world, you have been to America, to all over the place, and you can see the decadence in the western part of the world and even it is spreading into places like Asia, Africa, and all those places. So, and then you see that the message of the kingdom really spread out from within the UK across the world. So, what message do you have for the church in the UK and the western world? See, getting away from the Ten Commandments is like getting rid of some of the pillars that make the structure stand. You knock the pillars off, the structure collapses. Now, thou shalt not steal. Now, if there is revival in Britain, and may God grant that once again there will be a true turning back to the God of the Bible, a God of eternity. Now, how many supermarkets will have stuff returned? Money refunded. The treasury will have so much money returned by the tax thieves. Some of the tax thieves are the biggest people in the land. It's not just the ordinary person. And they get away with it. But a Christian conscience, what a wonderful thing it is. Thou shalt not kill. Okay. Now, if there is a religion which teaches you pursue the person, banish the person, confiscate his goods, kill him. What? What do you mean? You're breaking the commandments of God. And do you think any civilization can be built on such a concept? No, never. So, we have filled the whole world with bloodshed. We have filled it with greed. Thou shalt not covet anything that belongeth to your neighbor. Okay. Oil. Oil has become a source of great conflict today. All right. If somebody, a desert kingdom, has only that one natural resource and is incapable of even detecting it or exploring it, you go in, you say, hey, you're driving your camels. Boy, you will be riding on Rolls Royces because underneath the camel's hooves there's so much money. All right. I explore. I set up refineries. All right. I am entitled to my part of the game for my hardworkingness, for my enterprise. But the locals are entitled to their natural resources. Where is the fighting? You see, that's a Christian hut. But thou shalt not covet, if you take that out. What happens? What happens? Even the Prince of Wales can't drive through London without having the glasses broken. And there does not seem to be a sense of shame, remorse, or repentance. What are we, savages? A passing vehicle cannot go safely? Where are we headed? Wow. You know, another big problem, you know, because you were talking about when pillars are brought down, the whole structure comes down. Even within the body of Christ, within Christendom, the case of divorce, you hear stories. I don't know whether when you're in India you hear these stories. We get the stories here all the time about people like Benny Hinn, Paula White, Ramsey Mumba, so many of them who are in a turbine room. And really, the Christian leaders in this part of the world are not even saying anything. So I'd like to know your take on divorce so that people have a clear message, exactly what the Bible says so that the people of God can stick to God's agenda. Because there are younger people who admire these people saying that, well, if the bishop can divorce his wife, so why can't I? Now, really, when we stray from the Word of God, whatever excuses we may give, it'll hold no water. Now, the Lord Jesus Christ said, But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife, and they twain shall be one flesh. So then they are no more twain but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together let not man put asunder. Now, isn't that clear enough? Whosoever shall put away his wife and marry another committeth adultery against her. Now, we have brought the flesh so strongly into the church. And the Lord Jesus said, The flesh profiteth nothing. All right. This, that we don't bring under this body and every high thought to the obedience of Christ. All right. A preacher is a trusted person. He has his secretary, or a hundred women come to him for counseling, for prayer, for their sicknesses, whatever. If a preacher does not learn how to bring under his body, if he says, What's wrong? I'll have 18 wives like somebody else who notwithstanding is called a mighty prophet or 22. Now, if a preacher comes to that, can a woman trust him? Can a wife trust him? It is the breakdown of love. It's the breakdown of trust. I don't know what we are greedy about. Why can't I trust you? You see, where is the problem? And we want to say, Hey, I am born that way. So, I am gay and I, you know, it is really a misuse of English. Gay, by statistics, a gay person lives approximately half the lifespan, has half the lifespan of a normal person. And while I, if I am your friend and I see you cutting your life by half, and if I don't warn you about it, is it a hate crime I am doing? Are these fellows demented to apply hate laws against what is essentially something which a man does out of pure love? If I had a son who is cutting his life by half and I as a father tell him, Son, this is no way to live. God made them male and female. So you are one or the other. You can be both. And if you want to sink Britain into the North Sea, all you have to do is fill this whole nation with homosexuals. And you won't have any population problems either. But only you'll have to make plenty of room for the cemeteries. Yes. Make sure of that. So wrapping up the program now, what advice would you have for the teachers, the preachers running churches in this country, who are eager to serve God even against all the pressures from society? What advice would you have for them, sir? You know, sir, power belongeth unto God. So says the word. That's all. What power do I have? Nothing. I can drop dead any moment. All right. There's the power of money. There's the power of property. There's the power of status. There's the power of education. But what is the power that a preacher or a Christian really needs? Power that cometh from above. Ye shall be endued with power. If I don't have that power from God, I'm just a windbag, sir. And I don't want to be a windbag, you see, and deceive the people. Anybody may forgive me, but I can't forgive myself. So what do I need to do? I need to go back to God and seek that power of holiness. Holiness and power are two sides of the same paper. You can't have holiness and no power. You can't have true power without holiness. Today, nobody wants to speak about holiness. Give us a comfortable message. What? Am I a mercenary? Or am I just one who is living on somebody's paycheck that I should kowtow to that demand? No. If God has called me, let me be true to him. And that's all I want. And so we need to get back to Jesus. That's all it is, sir. We have left him out in the cold, and he's knocking there. If any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in. God bless you, sir. I really thank God for your life, and we are really privileged and really honored to have you here with us today. And we're looking forward to seeing you here again on your way through the United Kingdom. And especially, I know you come here from time to time to hold some retreats. So if we know in advance, we can actually put something together to get people to be aware of the events so they can come fellowship with you, sir. God bless you, sir. Okay, but don't compliment me too highly, sir. I am Mr. Nobody, if you want to know. God bless you, sir. Thank you so, so much. Thanks a lot. You know what? On that note, I want to thank you so much for being with us on this program. And you know what? There's a lot more to come. And thank God for the wisdom of Pastor Joshua Daniel. So I hope you've learned a lot from him, and I pray that the pastors also watching will be able to learn one or two things from this great man of God. Thank you for watching. I'll be back your way same time tomorrow. God bless you, and whatever you do, don't touch that dial. Bye for now.
