Reformation Is Not Regeneration
Keith Daniel

Keith Daniel (1946 - 2021). South African evangelist and Bible teacher born in Cape Town to Jack, a businessman and World War II veteran, and Maud. Raised in a troubled home marked by his father’s alcoholism, he ran away as a teen, facing family strife until his brother Dudley’s conversion in the 1960s sparked his own at 20. Called to ministry soon after, he studied at Glenvar Bible College, memorizing vast Scripture passages, a hallmark of his preaching. Joining the African Evangelistic Band, he traveled across South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, and made over 20 North American tours, speaking at churches, schools, and IBLP Family Conferences. Daniel’s sermons, like his recitation of the Sermon on the Mount, emphasized holiness, repentance, and Scripture’s authority. Married to Jenny le Roux in 1978, a godly woman 12 years his junior, they had children, including Roy, and ministered together. He authored no books but recorded 200 video sermons, now shared online. His uncompromising style, blending conviction and empathy, influenced thousands globally.

Sermon Transcription
Hi, welcome to my lecture today, I'm going to talk a little bit about how to use the word of God, and I'm going to talk a little bit about how to use the word of God, and I'm going to talk a little bit about how to use the word of God, and I'm going to talk a little bit about how to use the word of God, and I'm going to talk a little bit about how to use the word of God, and I'm going to talk a little bit about how to use the word of God, and I'm going to talk a little bit about how to use the word of God, and I'm going to talk a little bit about how to use the word of God, and I'm going to talk a little bit about how to use the word of God, and I'm going to talk a little bit about how to use the word of God, and I'm going to talk a little bit about how to use the word of God, and I'm going I will return into my house from whence I came out. And when he has come, he findeth it empty, swept and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself. And they enter in, and dwell they. And the last state of that man is worse than the first, Jesus said. Now this parable or analogy is unique in the entire Bible, in that it has three distinct crucial facets. It has three distinct crucial facets. The first, the first is seen in its immediate context, which is a stunning rebuke to the people of Israel at the time of Christ. The first facet we have to consider in its immediate context of what Christ is saying, is a stunning rebuke to the people of Israel at the time of Christ, for being willing to repent morally under the fearless preaching of John the Baptist. For being willing to repent morally under the fearless preaching of John the Baptist. Jesus said he was a burning light, and you were willing for a season to rejoice in his light. John 535. You see brother, sister, virtually a national moral reformation had taken place through John the Baptist's strong cry for repentance, which cut the hearts of the nation. Even the Pharisees wanted to repent under his preaching. But their eventual rejection of Christ himself as the Messiah, their eventual rejection of Christ himself, whom John's ministry had paved the way for, their rejection of Christ himself left them in a far worse condition spiritually than they were before the impact of John's faithful ministry. In spite of their reaction, their repentance, their genuine repentance, morally, across that land they were coming streaming with this in their hearts under such preaching to repent of the moral sins in their lives. But Christ says their rejection ultimately of him and his salvation, and him being the Messiah, left them in a worse tragic spiritual condition than they were before John's preaching and their response, and the impact of that preaching upon their hearts and lives. The second facet of this fearful analogy is seen in its immediate inner context, viewed only as a parable. It warns of a man's initial deliverance from demonic possession. It warns of a man's initial deliverance from demonic possession. But a void was created in his life. Why? Because he was not instructed to go on and seek God's salvation after his deliverance. You see, deliverance from demonic possession does not save you. You have to carefully and prayerfully instruct a man. If that has happened under your ministry, as to repentance, that ends in seeking God's total salvation from returning to sin, and filling up the gap and void that will be in that man's heart in spite of deliverance from demonic possession, he will not find peace with God, and he will return to a worse condition than he was, to worse evils than he had initially been delivered from by Christians. But the third facet, the third facet of this analogy, the third warning found in this passage, is truly staggering and fearful to me. It is truly staggering and fearful to me, for when we carefully meditate Christ's opening statement of this analogy, being when the unclean spirit, the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, we realize, as we carefully meditate these words, that Christ is speaking of something far more complex than is seen in the first two facets. For it is not referring to a literal demon in the broader context, departing out of a man, even though Christ uses this terminology, and it can be taken as an isolated facet to explain why demonically possessed people return to their evils and Satanism if they're not led into true regeneration with Christ, true salvation, because of the void that will be there. But this third facet is fearful. We realize it's something far more complex, for Christ is not referring to a literal demon departing from a man, but that a genuine change of heart occurred in this man's life towards sin and all that's evil and morally wrong, a genuine change of heart occurred in this man's life towards sin and all that's evil and morally wrong, and he makes a genuine and sincere attempt to repent from his evil past in sinful ways, but this does not mean he is then saved by God through the gospel of Christ. Christ is actually warning us here that reformation, though good, is not enough, it is not salvation. Reformation that stops sort of regeneration will only create a vacuum, and if a house is cleaned out, left vacant, the soul will swiftly return to his evil past with a vengeance. Religion is not regeneration. Christianity embraced only as a religion will lead you into what Christ terms dry places, continually seeking spiritual rest, peace with God, fulfillment, but finding none, and your sinful nature, sir, will soon hunger again and thirst for the past evils you once pursued and drive you back to your sin with a vengeance, a void or vacuum created, but not filled by God himself, will make you return to your sinful past and sinful places with such a vengeance that you will open yourself to worse evils than you embraced before. I implore you to listen carefully here, dear friend, the evidence that you were never ever saved, the startling evidence that you were never ever truly saved, is if you have returned to your sins and sinful past. The evidence that you have never really been saved, you never were saved, in truth, is if you return to your sins and your sinful past. I believe in once saved, always saved. If you stay saved, weary and confused soul, you must grasp this, or you will perish in disillusionment with religion. You must grasp this. Reformation is not regeneration, for as swiftly as a boomerang turns around and returns to its origin, you will return to your sinful past, if you are not truly saved by Christ's power and grace. Listen carefully to these scriptures, which most preachers would never read in their lives, they so fear them. In 2 Peter 2 verse 20, if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled then, if after they've escaped the pollutions through Christian influence, radical preaching like John the Baptist, staggering, but if they are again entangled there and overcome the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. It had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than after they have known it, to turn from the Holy Commandment and live it unto them. You see these fearful words may one day be written across your life. These are they who separate themselves, sensual, but having not the Spirit. Jude verse 9, in the form of godliness but denying the power thereof, leaves you in a tragic state. Now perhaps we need to stop here to grasp why this would happen. In the staggering parable of the sower, sowing seed, the Word of God, Christ explained to his disciples in Luke 8 verse 11, the seed is the Word of God, that the sower shows what we preach, what you and I spread, what God the Holy Ghost spreads, to reach the thoughts of men. Those by the wayside are they that hear the Word of God, then cometh the devil and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe, lest they should go on to believe and be truly saved. The word here, they should go into saving faith. Hearing, believing doesn't save you. The devils believe, they chamber, but wilt thou know vain man, that faith without works is dead, it's worthless. Saving faith works sir, they on the rock, are they which when they hear, receive the word with joy. Verse 13 says, you have, have you? You remember that day, that night, that sermon? Does that mean you're saved? And then, these have no root, which for a while believe. How long was it? But in time of temptation, they fall away. Fearful words, what did Christ joke about such people who for a while, who received the word, the truth with joy. And of course, Christ ends with those who truly get born again by the Word of God, being born again by the Word, by faith in God's promises, in God who gave it. But, they that are on the good ground, are they which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit. I love that, with patience, endurance. Oh soul, listen carefully here, don't let the devil take away the good seed. Before, before, it has found fertile soil, and brought forth repentance that results in salvation, and peace with God. Be careful now, repentance alone doesn't save you, if it's done in your own strength, and it doesn't lead you to peace with God. How, you may ask, can Satan snatch away the seed before it brings forth true regeneration? Well, you may remember Eve, the first one, to do what Satan said she should do, which God had said she should not do. The serpent beguiled me, deceived me. It's far more than the word deceived there. Confused, and I did it, to confess to God. I did that which God had commanded, I should not do. Beware now, the serpent servants, in the time of Christ, were still there, and throughout every age, they were the leaders of the ordained religion of God on earth, not in some satanic, Satanist tabernacle. They were the ordained leaders, in the ordained religion, that God had set out upon the earth, that hated Christ. Actually, they hated God, whom they thought they were servants, from the moment he opened his mouth. They hated truth. Now, the servants of Satan, they will beguile you to this day. Don't doubt that, Satan's servants are in God's pupils throughout the world, under the banner of Christianity, and people think this is the servants of God. Satan will deceive you through them. They will beguile you, deceive you, confuse you, divert you from what this book actually teaches. Listen carefully to 2 Corinthians 11 13, for such are false apostles. Deceitful work is transforming themselves into the apostles, the servants of Christ, and no marvel for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore, it is no great thing that these servants also be transformed into the ministers of righteousness. You don't think that's possible? Then why does God put this and probably half an hour of exact verses that I have quoted when I preached last year across your country on Satan's servants in God's pupils, and I only quoted what Christ said about them, as the Old Testament, that God has warned us always. You see, friend, preachers today, across the world, under the banner of Christianity, actually undermine God's commandments. They don't only deny them, they reject them by not saying them. And if they have to say them, they take such lengths to explain why God couldn't have meant that, that they're actually blasphemous, carnal sins in God's pupils. They pervert all truth, and they're there in pupils across the world, and anybody here who gets offended, your head is buried in the sand, so I pity you if you say it's not so. You see, we need to beware. He that justified the wicked is an abomination to the Lord. He that justified the wicked and he that condemned the just, they both are abominations of the Lord. Now what is God saying? You see, Satan's servants in God's pupils are these men who will live to divert you from what God actually says, to keep it from you, and they are there in their hundreds of thousands across the world, not thousands, not sixty thousand hundreds. The most, Christ said, when he said many false prophets shall rise in the last days and deceive many. The most under the banner of Christianity, in the pupils across this world under the banner of Christianity, will deceive the masses when it says many. The masses who gather under the banner of Christ said these words forgive me for quoting what Jesus Christ said about in the last days, and if you don't know this is the last days, you're in trouble. You probably don't even know what year it is. Satan's servants in God's pupils will divert you from truth, but a true servant of God will not encourage you to accept your sinful state or condition and say that's how it is and God doesn't condemn you. They will warn you, as Paul did in 1 Corinthians 6 verse 9, know you not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God, be not deceived, neither fornicators, sexually immoral people that is, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, people who betray their wife physically or husband physically, and if you go deeper, those who lust as good as committing adultery in God's eyes, they will face the same judgment, if they're not faithful with their eyes. I've made a covenant with my eyes. Well, none of these, don't be deceived, fornicators, sexually immoral, adulterers, effeminate, abuses on themselves as mankind, that is homosexual and lesbians. According to Romans 1, it's not just men who become abnormal, but God says, be not deceived, you continue in this, you will face damnation, you're not saved, even if the Archbishop of Canterbury ordains you, you are going to hell. God says, is that unloving? No, you know what's unloving? If a man doesn't warn you, the fear of losing your kins and your tithe, he'll let you go to hell, even though he knows it's in the Bible. He'll ordain you, rather than offend you and lose the crowds. No thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor exorcisers, they shall not inherit the kingdom of God, Paul says, and such were some of you, homosexuals, fornicators, sexually immoral, lesbians, drunkards, who will never inherit, and such were some of you, no truly saved person will accept that remaining in their sin will get them to heaven. Sin that God condemns, and every true servant of God condemns, loud and clear, because he cares about their soul, even if he offends hypocrites, beginning with people in the pulpits. That's where it always begins, such were some of you, but you're washed. You're sanctified, set apart from evil by God, not your own efforts, that's why it lasts. You're justified, that's what gives you peace with God, that possible understanding, in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of God, not your own attempts. But now, I need to ask you, I need to ask you, each one here tonight, because only God knows your heart, not even your wife knows your heart, sir, let's be honest. So I need to ask everyone here tonight, are you in this place, Christ speaks of this dangerous place, Christ speaks of in this fearful parable, in dry places, seeking rest still, but finding none, no satisfaction in your pursuit of God, in your religion. I implore you, before you consider doing what this man did, returning to your past sin for life and disillusionment, before you become worse off forever than you ever were before you became religious, and started trying to cleanse your life out, sincerely, don't consider doing what Satan tells you, or what Satan servant says, you should just remain in your sin, God will accept you, whatever sexuality you approve, or choose, on earth, even if God condemns it, it doesn't matter, the Archbishop of Canterbury or others, say it's fine, he is God, what are they saying, these days, when they deny God's word, reject God's word, refute it, undermine it, the day a man touches God's word, he exposes himself as a servant of Satan in God's name, don't doubt that, that's all he is, run, run, don't accept it, are you in this dangerous place? Christ speaks of in this fearful parable, of still being in dry places, still seeking rest, but finding none, in Luke 15, the marvelous parable of the prodigal son, this man in his sin and sin's consequences, the aftermath of sin's ramifications, the dreadful result of embracing a life of sin, as a young man or woman, this parable speaks of how, when he came to himself, he became sober in his thinking, and in the sober moment, looking at his life, he decided, and he said in his heart, I will not die in this, I will arise, and I will go to my father, speaking of God, obviously, and of course, he would seek God's forgiveness, and acceptance, this is salvation, he came to himself, but this is staggering, he repented from a life of sin, deciding to go and seek God's forgiveness, but here in this parable that we hear tonight, the man does the exact opposite to what the prodigal done, there is a repentance from a life weary of seeking God's salvation, here is a coming soberly thinking in your situation through disillusionment, this man considers doing the exact opposite to what the prodigal did, to get saved, I will return, where the God knows he's religious, he's tried repentance, but he's found no peace, no satisfaction, just emptiness, I'm going back to my sin, not I'm getting up and getting out of my sin, I'm going back, I will return to my house from whence I came out, and tragically, the last state of that man became worse than the first, now which are you right now, Saul, are you seeking God's salvation in your attempt to repent, and turn from a life of evil, or are you contemplating giving up your pursuit of God, because of your disillusionment with religion, and returning back to a life of sin, now look at your heart, and look at what you're beginning to do, young man, young lady, and husbands, and wives, is Satan suggesting to you to give up pursuing God, and righteousness, and return to your sinful past, does he cry, it doesn't work, there's no peace, no joy, no fulfillment in pursuing God, and his salvation, in Luke 9 verse 62, Jesus warned, no man having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God, I want to repeat that, no man having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God, remember Lot's wife, don't look back, Saul, remember Lot's wife, God warns, Luke 17 verse 32, as she attempted to escape, to flee from the wrath to come, as a result of the condemnation and sin, those that lived in evil, she attempted to escape from that wrath, but tragically, she looked back, and she was destroyed, she was destroyed, are you at this moment, Saul, in your life, as you look at your heart, your mind, your circumstances, and what you're beginning to do, contemplating, in your confused and disillusioned mind, saying, I will return, saying what will bring eternal sorrow and shame on you, I will return from whence I came out, I'm going back to my sin, wait now, before we leave this thought, there is even a greater danger lurking here, there's even a greater danger lurking here, we need to consider, don't fall into the agonizing trap, Satan has evilly led multitudes of people across the world, who sit in evangelical churches for the rest of their lives, don't fall into the agonizing trap, Satan has evilly, easily, evilly led multitudes of people into, for the rest of their lives, of returning to your sinful past, but in secrecy, while maintaining to save face to the Christian circles you embraced and became part of, who witnessed your seeking God, cleaning out your life, maintaining somehow to save face that you have indeed repented from your sinful past, that you truly were kept and delivered by God and found peace, you can be standing in your shoes singing hallelujah with the crowd brother, and you walk out there when no one's watching, you're in such evil, it's unbelievable, do you want to know why, I know why, because I've seen ministers that led meetings where I preached, and I walked into situations where they were walking out as we passed, and you won't believe where they walked out of, where we looked and realized, don't fall into this tragic trap, this agonizing situation and state for the rest of your life, that Satan has led multitudes of people to fall into, of returning to your sinful past, but in secrecy, while maintaining in Christian circles that you've been saved, you've left your sinful past, but actually in your secret life, you're still in it, you now live a lie, a double life, hoping that even your wife won't find out, or your father, or your children, don't live a lie for the rest of your life, trying to save face, don't fall into this tragic trap of returning to your sinful past secretly, fearfully living a lie, how many of us are living a lie, professing Christianity, but God never saved you from a life of sin, you're in it, and now you live a double life. Jonathan Decino, we've been talking about him, Joel and I, I think he visited Joel, his sister Anna Decino was in the meetings last year, saved from, by God, healed of cancer as she was dying, God did a wonderful thing for that lovely lady, but her brother Jonathan, oh he was a wild boy, and it was Anna's life that brought him to Christ, drugs, oh and you name it, the boy was a heartbreak to his parents, and the same to his family, but he one day said insane, how he used to have the titles of messages, of sermons on DVDs, in this case of DVDs, and so outside on the titles were the great preachers, uncompromising preachers, but inside were the most worldly filthy depraved films available, the same with his music, the little CD carrier, oh they didn't hear what he was listening to, they thought it was all Christian things, but it was devilish, satanic music, the worst, morally decadent, blasphemous, you see living a lie may deceive people for a while, but oh what agony, that you can feel all the time of being found out, and it gets worse child, it gets worse and worse and worse and worse and worse, and you age prematurely, and keep it from everyone, be careful, be careful of godless music, for God's sake, maybe most preachers won't preach it, but don't touch the worldly music, no, you'll be drawn into it just fine, and then suddenly the world is in it, the devil's in it, don't touch the world's music if you're seeking God. Now a brother and sister's son who was tragically killed here a few months ago, last year I preached here, three of the boys in the meetings are dead in one year, he had sorrows and tasted sin for all sorts of things, broke his daddy and mummy's heart, yes but he was pursuing God, and I believe with all my heart that pursuit means he's in heaven, I believe that, I have no doubt, especially the way he earnestly looked at me with tears flowing down his face as he spoke to me, of his desire just to hate and sin to people, people and his pursuit and his attempt and his trust in God, but Joe brother, that's Daniel, he said to me about drugs, he said what you preached tonight was true brother Daniel, Mr Daniel, drugs and music, the world's music, the devil's music, go hand in hand, you'll never ever, ever find true deliverance from drugs while you have that music, don't deceive yourself, it is part and parcel of the whole battle, until you give up the world's music, let me tell you something, it breaks down every bit of resistance you will ever have to truly find God and truly repent of it, don't, until you burn it, don't give it away, burn it, and condition your mind to listen to pure things, not morally decadent, but people in the atmosphere, if you know devilish people, their embrace is helping you decide to follow God and you listen to it, I tell you something, the more you allow yourself to listen to satanic's music, you will find yourself the first salt, I guarantee you, keep listening, you listen long enough, I don't care who you are, you will love satan's music, blaspheming God, suggesting suicide, suggesting murdering your parents, how they don't jail these perverted satanists, I don't know, but our children are being destroyed because music today is the single greatest weapon satan has to demoralize a person forever in their millions, most of the children, they will never be free until they get rid of it, but it's more addictive than the drugs, you try and stop, you've got to stop, may God help you, so that's just the point, but don't lie, don't lie, don't live a lie for the rest of your life, don't seal your fate by living a lie, don't settle for a life that's a lie, claiming you're saved when you know that you're not by every single thing you do in secret, you're thinking of those things young man, young lady, they don't know yet do they, but you know, and I'll tell you something, you think you're happy, you're in total devastating misery, if you're trying to be fulfilled, don't seal your fate by turning back to evil forever, where will you be when Christ cries out the words recorded in Revelation 22 verse 11, he that is unjust, let him be unjust still, he which is filthy, let him be filthy still, he that is righteous, let him be righteous still, he that is holy, let him be holy still, what are you, what will you be when Jesus Christ actually says with all your religion and your double life and the lie that you are saved, but you're not living in secrets all the time, oh staggering soul, get up for God's sake and seek salvation now, but God's way, there's something left that you need to grasp, you must be washed such with some of you, sodomites, lesbians, sexually immoral, that's what God says, forgive me quoting God's word from God's pulpit today, it's unacceptable I know, it's offensive, please forgive me, you must be washed such with some of you, that you're washed, you're sanctified, set apart by God, delivered by God for me, you're justified, and you know it, and only then, washed, sanctified and justified, will you find peace with God, only then, not before religion won't give it to you, washed, how do you mean washed, oh well, well, some man came to me, a millionaire, multi-millionaire, and said to me, brother Daniel, I want to meet you for lunch, so we will, I asked you to ask you this question sir, if you could choose one verse in the entire Bible that you wanted millions to see every day, to be confronted with, what verse would you suggest? So, I didn't pray, I knew the blood of Jesus Christ, God's son, cleanses us from all sin, one John wonders that, well, we had lunch, gone a year later, no, about six months later, he meets me again in some city, where I was preaching, he says brother, do you know what I asked you that question for, I have taken, and I don't want to tell you how much money he did this with, he put across our nation, and parts of southern Africa anyway, on every single highway, on these big billboards, just black, bold letters, with a white background, nothing else, the blood of Jesus Christ, God's son, cleanses us from all sin, one John 1 verse 9, what other religion can claim that, what other savior can claim that, and what more does the Holy Spirit need, to tell you how to be saved, hallelujah, he showed me photographs, every highway throughout South Africa, millions of people going to be there, hallelujah, when I was in a place called Namibia, used to be Southwest Africa, German Southwest Africa, 90 percent Germans, well, when I was in this land, like a desert land, the highest desert dunes in the entire world today, not in the Sahara, but in Namibia, I've climbed those mountains, well, this good brother that was taking me on a tour of that country years ago, he showed me as we were driving, the devastation, the dryness, and the drought, sometimes for three years, not a drop of rain in many areas, it's like absolute dust, wherever you walk, as you get out of the car, it's just terrifying, nothing's growing, but something survives, that has caused two problems throughout the whole land, you see immigrants that came from Europe, from another country, they brought some plant, that for some reason they thought was needed, so they brought it with them in the boats, and they planted this, this spread, it killed all the vegetation, it destroyed everything that was natural to vegetation, it caused devastation and dearth, now they tried to rid themselves as a nation of this weed, we would call it a weed, but a devastating weed, it's so strong, they did everything nationally, they tried to destroy it, but whatever they did, it was futile, because this thing just sprang up again, every attempt to deal with this, that was causing nothing but devastation, was futile, nothing worked, and let me shock you, any attempt that you will ever make, to deal with sin, outside of looking to the blood of Jesus Christ, that cleanses from all sin, will be totally futile, it'll just spring up again, no matter what you do, you return to it eventually, if it isn't the blood of Jesus Christ, that you look to alone, there's something about the redemptive power of the blood of Jesus Christ, they overcame him, the devil, Revelation 12 verse 11, by the blood of the land, and by the word of their testimony, it's the blood of Christ, there's something on the death as the blood of Christ flowed, our faith in what is incomprehensible fully, but in what God says about Christ's death and blood, saves us, nothing else. You have to be careful here, you have to be very careful, when it comes to how you seek God, of what he says, of what he says, he will save you through. Stop trying to earn your salvation by works, stop trying to set yourself free, and thinking this will save you, and give you peace with God, stop, you'll go back to your sin with the vengeance, because you won't find peace with God, until you come with nothing but the blood of Jesus, nothing in my hands I bring, simply to the cross I cling, until you do that, God can't look at your prayer to save you, he look at you, but he can't save you, there's nothing God can do for a man, no matter how you groan and cry, until you realize, there's nothing I can come to God with. Now, this is the simplicity of the gospel, don't get complicated here, just believe me. Being justified freely by grace, through faith in his death, being justified freely by grace, through faith in Christ's blood, Romans 3 tells us, it's the blood that God will look at. To him that worketh not, you see, by grace are you saved, through faith, not of works. Your works, though good, will not save you. Stop trying to work for your salvation. To him that worketh not, but believeth, that's what God wants, on him that justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted to him for righteousness, God will declare you righteous, righteousness imputed, and righteousness imparted, or imperative, they must be together, or otherwise you can't, and no one will believe you're saved, unless it's imputed by faith, you remain righteous, because of your faith in the blood of Christ, and by the power, the redemptive power of Christ's blood, you deliver it. You see, you overcome Satan by one thing, the blood of the Lamb. Your faith in Christ's death and the blood, undoes the power and hold of Satan on your life, nothing else will, nothing else will. It's the gospel, in essence, when Paul was sent by Jesus to the Gentiles, in Acts 26 17, with the gospel, with this good news, it was to open their eyes, to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, with the gospel, that's all. I'm not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, it is the power of God unto salvation. What is the gospel of Christ? One thing, come with nothing but the blood of Jesus, don't take every dirty thing on the world, and stop, and then say, now I look to the blood, come as you are, and let me tell you, when God saves you, and the Holy Spirit comes in you, you will be truly set free, forever. If the Son shall set you free, you shall be free indeed, gloriously free, not free of temptation, but free from the power of Satan. I'm not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, it's the power of God unto salvation. It is the simplicity that you have to come, and be saved by grace through faith, not of works. You have to come with nothing but the blood of Jesus. You have to place your faith when Moses, just as Moses lifted up the serpent, and everyone as they were dying in their swarms, thousands just dying. God promised, if everyone just looks, those that just look up and see, so Moses went there in compassion, crying out like I'm crying out to you tonight, and Jesus said, just as Moses did that, and they were saved, I, when I be lifted up, if I be lifted up, I will draw all men unto myself. Men are saved in their millions, sorry, in their billions, by one thing, when they see Jesus on the cross, and they put their faith in that blood, that death, that God brings down to this tomb, the blood of Jesus Christ, God's Son cleanseth, saves, nothing but the blood of Jesus, just as I am, without one plea, that thy blood was shed for me, nothing else, nothing in my hands I bring, simply to the cross I cling, for the first moment in your life, God will be able to save you, if you honestly come just like that. To those of you that have attempted to rise up out of your sin, who like the prodigal, risen, come to yourself, and said, I will seek God, but now you're staggered by Satan, much by preachers undermining what God says is sin, that now they say you don't have to, and undermining of the word of God, is in most evangelical pulpits in the world today, you say I'm wrong, well let Christ tell you, whether you're a liar, burying your head in the sand, or whether I am, about the church today, be careful, be careful, look and live, everyone that looked on the serpent that Moses held up, the brass serpent was lived, was saved, you look at Christ alone, at what he said we do, his blood, his death, once you are washed in the blood of Christ by faith alone, if you are truly saved, and the Holy Spirit bears witness with your spirit, you will know that there is required of you now, from the day you are saved, to the day you die, choices and disciplines, that you need to guard and mature and maintain, till you die, you are not saved, if you don't know that, if you think now I'm saved, if you're saved, you know there are choices friend, the first choice will be to choose godly company, and reject all friends, that you know will break down your faith, and cause you to stumble, because they pursue sin, and they're too strong, don't hide behind that you have to witness to them, that's rubbish, you don't witness to people that drag you back to sin, you get them out of your life, you choose godly company, the gathering together of God's saints, must not be neglected, once you're saved. In our game reserves, the largest in the world, there's a Serengeti, Africa has these game reserves, a thousand miles, just natural, nothing touched by man, and these animals just swarming, of every type of animal across Africa, just swarming, and living as they were created, after the fall, sorry, but in our game reserves, I was being taken across by one of the greatest game reserves in the world, all paid for, living in some five-star hotel, by some godly people that didn't want me even to meet them, I didn't know who they were, but they felt I left my life, wife alone too much that year, so they made her get there, they flew her by plane, and me by private plane, and we had a lovely time in the game reserve. Sure, if you want to live like millionaires, become a preacher, sometimes. We have wonderful privileges, don't we, but the Lord knows how to keep us on our faces, to be keeping short accounts, but anyway, on that game reserve, I was really educated about things I never knew, so he's taking us, he says, we're going to see the big five, lions, elephants, tigers, what are these big things, rhinos, okay, the big five, people come in their millions to see the big five, well, in one day, we saw everything, but this fellow, this young Christian, who was taken aside to take me and my wife around in this beautiful van, well, he said something remarkable, he said, you see, we're looking right now, towards the rocks, there, these things are about so tall, as tall as that, you might not think, but that's how tall animals can be, long legs, and long, when they are really old, they're very, very tall, but anyway, he says, we're looking, and they deceptive, because they blend in, like camouflaged, the way they are spotted with this vegetation of most of Africa, in Africa, but anyway, he says, now, I guarantee you, there's a lot of giraffes, there, I guarantee, can't see any, but I know, so I said, how do you know, he says, well, because look at the zebras, the zebras look like horses with stripes on, by the way, anyway, they're in Africa, I don't know about America, but, so, we see all these zebras, right, well, there must be giraffes, and lo and behold, there they were, eyes, you know, he takes his binoculars, oh, and then he goes slowly, so they don't run off, and we see all these terrific giraffes, so I said, how did you know that with the zebras, there's giraffes, he says, well, brother, because the zebras have learned something, it's instinct, right from the beginning of time, from God's creation, the zebras have learned, they can't see far, where there's danger, but those tall things can, and if there's lions, tigers, cheetahs, that could just devour them, they know, these things is dangerous at the moment, they don't need education to say, that is dangerous, my boy, you see, they just know, it's instinct, right, that's not right, this thing coming towards me is going to eat me up, well, the zebras always look, well, where's the giraffe, we're safe, if they start running, we gotta run the same direction as them, now, that's why we need to be, and to neglect not, the gathering together of the saints, from the day you say, you choose the godliest, godliest friends, and the godliest churches, with the most God-fearing, uncompromising, conservative people, you can find, and that's the safest you're going to be, beginning with the music, that you hear in that church, you know is conservative, godly, and then the dress codes of modesty, not ugliness, but purity, both men and women, there could never be a temptation to a man, you dress, you see that, the message, I could destroy everything by saying this, but I'm going to, if I destroy everything anyway, if it's a Kim James version, and the man truly preaches truth to himself, be careful of the other version, don't leave, don't be offended, somebody has to tell you though, trust me, you'll find it one day, yeah, so you go to the godly, and let me tell you, they know where there's dangers in this incident, and when they say, no ways, it's better with me, you run with them, up the giraffes, they can see you, because they've been around, they've learned, that's the reason you reject godless company, or superficial Christian companies, and superficial entertainers, in churches, whether they're negative churches, crowds don't mean you're God's people, that's normally an indication you're with the devil's people, so, let's not go too far there, be careful, don't, don't, don't pitch your tent, close to Sodom, Lot, Lot, he had God, you know, but Lot was in trouble, oh, he was unhappy, he vexed his soul, he was troubled all the time, you want to be troubled, go to situations, the fact is, he pitched his tent to ward, are you, are you, be careful, where you see there's evil, don't put your compass in that direction, you'll lose your children, you'll lose your wife in the end, to hell, Lot, and you will know nothing but sorrow, be careful of where you choose to be, when you choose to be close to, be careful, be careful, oh, let's leave all this kids, Pharaoh said to God's people, this is a complete spiritualizing of the Old Testament, which is what God meant, when they crossed the Red Sea, they were rid of them, but that old enemy that ruled them for what, for hundred years, when he realized he had to let them go, he said, go, but don't go too far, don't go too far, how many preachers and churches will say, don't go too far, that's going too far with that music boy, with those dresses, you're going too far now, from the world, from the old enemy's territories, the places you once enslaved to serve, be careful, Enoch walked with God, what a lovely statement, but you know, that's nothing, people just say, oh, what an amazing statement, I've heard sermons, but they missed the whole point, the whole total point of what God said that for, do you think anything's historical record said this for your interest in historically, what happened, the people that lived in no ways, two-thirds of the Bible is not history, sir, every single verse in two-thirds of the Bible, just under two-thirds is in the Old Testament, don't tell me it isn't the vital heart and soul of God, to give you understanding, every page, every incident, these things were written to you and me, otherwise they wouldn't be in the Old Testament, for God to reveal his heart, his warnings were to you, when he warned them, his individuals and national, the promises, everything was to you and me, otherwise it wouldn't be in the Bible, for us to be able to walk with God, now Enoch walked with God, why would God tell us that, let me tell you about the context, he walked with God in the most sinful age of history, it's going to get the same just before Christ returns, which is probably tomorrow, the way things are already, but the wonderful thing is that God tells us of just how evil, it was so evil, God had to wipe out that entire population of earth, because there was no way he could bring them to a vengeance, and that is when Enoch walked with God, now God tells us it doesn't matter how evil the age may be, you can be walking with God, if you want to, if you pursue to walk with God, God is giving us hope when he tells us about Enoch, otherwise he wouldn't tell us at all, it would be quite boring to just know that, but the depth of what God is saying, now friend, once you are saved, you know there are obligations, or you're not saved, and you will pursue those obligations with your soul and life, if you stay close to God, which is your reasonable service, you need to not neglect the assembling of yourselves together with the godly, you need the godly just, and you need to get away from the ungodly, even if you have one friend that's godly, lose the 50 that will take you to sorrow, don't go back to Sodom or put your 10 days because you're friends with him, the next thing you're in Sodom, even though he was a man of God, it wrecksed his soul, it troubled his soul, because of the sin, the factors he pitched him towards, the next thing he loved, the next thing he was sitting and watching their sins, we don't ever hear that he preached, he did plead with the angels, don't do that, you have to also, if you're saved, never neglect the quiet time to the day you die, to be renewed daily, you have to be saved, by the way, for a quiet time to mean anything to you, my wife's brother, Andre, he's a farmer, a blonde mop, you know, doesn't go down, thank goodness, but anyway, he's poor Andre, six foot eight, good man, but he's a farmer, oh, but when he was a little boy, he was given a gift from his father and mother, and this gift was wrapped up in the most beautiful paper, which you have to do, because it makes it 10 times more thrilling to a child, if it's not wrapped up, it's really not nice, oh, what's inside, you know, tearing the paper is just part of the joy, what was I given for my birthday, well, it was, what was it, it was a suitcase, a little suitcase for him to put his things in, a lovely suitcase, they thought this would be a wonderful gift, this beautiful suitcase, so he takes the suit, what is this, the suitcase, hey, it's empty, he bursts into tears, he was sobbing his heart, that broken heart, that he was given a gift of the suitcase, there's nothing in, let me tell you something, unless you say it, you will be so shattered at a quiet time, there's nothing in it, you can spend 10 hours trying to get strength to walk with God, to be renewed by God, so you be sure you're safe now, the natural man, the unsaved thing, the unsaved man, the unregenerate man, cannot receive or perceive or grasp anything of this holy book, apart from that thrilling stories, but nothing that can enable to find eternal life, or daily food, but the spiritual man, you see, the letter killeth, does nothing, good is keeping you dead, the letter killers, but the spirit capital, it gives life, the moment the holy spirit is in you, you're not just the unsaved man anymore, but the spiritual man, the holy ghost is in you, this book becomes alive, if you're saved, this book becomes throbbing life, or you're not saved, so it's an empty little box that will make you weep in your heart, it's got nothing, if you think there's a box of tricks in it, no way, you will remember how when Christ was tempted by the devil, the first thing he taught us, because everything is recorded for our teaching, no matter what it is in the bible, when the devil tempted him, Christ said, it is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeded out of the mouth of God, you live, you live by this book, to survive the devil's temptations, you devour it, when Jesus said, as he prayed for his disciples, I pray not that thou would take them from the world, but that thou would keep them from the evil, and then how did he say to God, the father, that would happen, sanctify them, by thy truth, thy word is truth, keep them separate from evil, because of the word, by the word of God alone, man shall not live, you won't survive by food, when you're spiritually saved, there's another food you need to stay alive, to be equipped, to be strengthened by daily, by every word that proceeded, I have regarded thy word more than my necessary food, that's the soul who is right with God, he would choose to deny necessary food, rather than to deny this, if there was a choice, if there had to be a choice, when you're right with God, this you don't neglect, your heart tells you, otherwise you're not saved, you're not saved, but with also the young man cleanses way, keep himself clean, by taking heed of word, and according to thy word, thy word of our head within my heart, that I might not sin against you, and I could go on for at least through a half, some 119 anyway, at least 20 minutes, it's just why the word of God will keep you from sin, sin will keep me from the bible, the bible will keep me from sin, the godly sin, you've got to guard your quiet time, with your life, that nothing draws you away from it, or makes you neglected, I was thinking of this television thing, and I looked at all these things, my brother had a television given to him, those were the days when South Africa banned television, until 1974, we weren't allowed to have television, it was illegal, because it's morally decadent, our government, our government said, and the nation wanted it, but things changed, it came, so now everybody's wondering about this television, where it's going to lead, people are getting it in their homes now, and eventually we're going to have every moral decadence of American television and British television, which will defile our children in our homes, so my brother gets this delivered to him, this big box, someone's bought him a television, he's a preacher, oh I didn't order this, no it's a gift, but I don't want it, but it's still a gift, I've got to deliver it, you've got a sign, I can't take it back, so he's taking it in, his wife and him look at it, the box says, we bring the world into your home, he said, get it out, hallelujah, guard yourself, I look at the television, I think to myself, when I see them going into the homes, and realizing suddenly, the children can't wait for daddy to stop reading the bible, because they're going to miss their program, everything just cries out addiction, you know, if you give yourself half a chance, you can drown yourself in that, ah guard yourself there, I thought it would be very wise and honest to put this on every single television set, when you purchase it, you see the normal conditions of purchase that you need to read, but there should be this for Christians, just underneath, the dangers and the conditions, you see, be careful, read carefully, if you are a Christian, the conditions of purchasing this product, it will lead you to addiction, the more you watch, the less chance you'll have to put it off, it will break you down morally, at first it will shock you, the blaspheme, the moral decadence, but if you keep it in your home, and you allow it to go on again, you will in the end, not be able to miss it, but above all, it will keep you from the time you should have spent with Jesus Christ, with the word to survive, and that is as demoral, immoral, and evil, as watching pornography, you see, the quiet time has to be guarded, though the outward man perishes, and it does, the inward man is renewed, but it must be renewed day by day, how do you think that happens, that he would grant you according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened by might of the spirit in the inner man, if he's in Caesar 16, how does that happen, they that wait in the Lord, shall renew their strength daily, the literal word says, you will continue to be renewed, the inward man is renewed day by day, by one way, you wait on God with this book open, or you don't know what it is to wait on God, sir, prayer is the result of consuming the word of God, outside of that, you don't know anything about prayer, praying in the spirit is not tongues, the only time you've ever prayed in the spirit in your life, is when you meditate the word of God, long enough, you find yourself praying from your soul to God, in a way that is truly praying in the spirit, outside of the meditating of the scriptures, you could have known what it is to pray in your spirit, in the spirit in your life, it results in praying in the spirit, it is the only source of you being able to truly pray in the spirit in a way, by unhurried prayer, eventually you start praying from the heart of God with faith, because faith comes by the word of God, so you need to pray, which is the result, which will be true prayer, I get itemized billing for what you call a cell phone, anyway the cell phone sends you billing, so you see the amount you spent, and you said, but whoa, I didn't make the, so they said, well get itemized billing, it tells you when you made the call, how long the call was, where the call was, and to whom, what numbers are, then you can argue with us, and how much it cost, and had total, you have to pay a little bit extra, but so I said, give me itemized billing, so that I know I'm not being crooked, oh cheated, oh well, so it comes, the itemized billing, you know, it's terrible to see just how many calls you make in one month, but there it is, you can't deny it, but now one minute at 10 past 10 on Tuesday, this date, you spoke, then about an hour later, for two minutes, you spoke there, to that telephone number, to that part of the world and country, five minutes there, 3 p.m., it's quite something, imagine having itemized billing on your prayer life, one minute, one minute, a few hours later, one minute before you went to bed, that's impossible, if you soak yourself in this book, you will pray without ceasing, there will be a continual communing with God, I am mostly in communication with God, when I'm in a crowd, everybody's speaking, but I'm speaking to God, I found them a desperate need for that, I find the desperate need for that, be careful to God in every aspect, don't even go to the wrong place, when you're having a quiet time, in your own home, my word, I have an American fellow who came to South Africa, and he had to get in the bus and travel across the land, in this godless bus, you know, where they have televisions in the front, and music, and all sorts of things, and then if it isn't the filthy films going on, in the filthy language, that you've got to hold, but he likes to carry the Bible wherever he goes, godly young fellow, so I said, how was it in the bus, because I know the buses is the last thing I can get in, I'm dead, I will die, if I ever get in another bus in my life, in Africa, with that devilish music, and that's devilish films, that you don't want to see in bicycles, or films of cinema, so you have to see it in the bus, if you want to go across the country, so you've got to walk, to stay alive, anyway, he said, I said, how was it, I know you like your Bible, and he says, it was like trying to have a quiet time in hell, music can make you feel you're going through hell, while you be careful, you go to a quiet place, and you will find it, be alone, have nothing of the world's background, devilish things, you guard the quiet time with your life, even where you have it, quietness, open the Bible, soak yourself in the scriptures, now the question is, where are you, soul, and all that, right down to the last thing I say, and what are you going to do about it, if you don't do something drastic from tonight, I guarantee you, you're probably never, ever going to try in your life, to do something, to find reality, if you don't do something up to this sermon, with your whole heart and soul, I'm almost totally convinced, you're going to die in the situation you are now, you'll be careful as you walk out of here, what you say, how you laugh at this sermon, how you judge me, you're judging and sealing your fate, and what you do in your heart with this sermon, can we stand, Mr. Joel, will you please come forward, so what do you do, make an appeal now, and say, come, you that are living a lie, come, those of you considering returning to sin, because they're disillusionment, because you never looked at the blood alone, and it hasn't washed you, and it's the only time the Holy Spirit will fill the vacuum, by bearing witness with your spirit, that you are born again, because you looked to nothing but the blood of Jesus, God saved you, and gave you the witness, and peace that passes all understanding, there was no vacuum or void, and suddenly you knew what to do, you didn't need instruction, you knew it's the Bible, and prayer, and forsaking evil friends, you see from the day you're saved, if you're saved indeed, God will tell you, but you have to make a choice, from the day you're saved, to the day you die, didn't you know that, can you pray for us, please, dear Lord, I thank you, that your blood alone cleanses us from all sin, that your blood alone, and the testimony of that, will be declared forever, worthy is the lamb who was slain, Lord you are worthy, to receive all glory, power, for all things were created by you, and for your good pleasure, Lord I pray for those, that you created, who have not been washed in your blood, Lord maybe they've been hypocrites, maybe they've tried, and tried, and tried, and tried, but they never humbled their hearts, and received your grace, and Lord for those of us that are yours, we thank you for the blood that keeps us, and that is sufficient, even still, that we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous, that we can live, and make it our aim, to be pleasing to you, to bring you pleasure, but if there be things in our lives, to not bring you pleasure, Lord God take those away, as we choose to follow you, wash us clean of them, and give us the power of your Holy Spirit, to walk in newness of life daily, knowing what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God. Take this message tonight, and accomplish your work, in each heart, greatest in Jesus name, Amen. Brother Keith talked about those who, need to be washed in the blood, they need to be saved, I don't know if there's anybody here that needs to be, born again, that needs to be saved, is there anyone at all, about things, maybe the Lord has convicted you of, that you need to make right, or areas of your life, that neglected him, you know, I know, God's spoken to me this weekend, I like this little slogan, I've used it for years, I stole it, but then I've used it, as the slogan, just do it, just do it, the things that God shows us, and we know it, we know it, we were reminded this morning, that the Lord never calls us anything, to anything that he doesn't equip us to do, never, if he calls us to it, he will equip us, and so we need to just do it, we need to walk in faith, we need to walk in obedience, we need to walk according to his ways, for he is worthy of it, he is worthy of it all. Fill me now, fill me now, Jesus come and fill me now, fill me with thine hallowed presence, come oh come and fill me now, fill me now, fill me now, Jesus come and fill me now, fill me with thine hallowed presence, come oh come and fill me now, Lord fill us now and take us out of this place, and be with us, go with us, and be with us, and strengthen us, I pray in Jesus name, Amen. We'll break on three, one, two, three.
