Milton Green

Milton Green (1943 - 1987). American evangelist and Bible teacher born in Tennessee. Raised in a troubled home with an abusive father, he spiraled into alcoholism, drug addiction, and homelessness, suffering a major heart attack at 43 that left doctors predicting his death. Converted in 1972 after crying out to Jesus, he was miraculously healed and began studying Scripture intensely. A carpet cleaner by trade, Green preached across the U.S. from the late 1970s to 1987, often alongside James Robison and Leonard Ravenhill, focusing on repentance, holiness, and spiritual warfare. He authored The Great Falling Away Today (1986), warning against carnal Christianity, and recorded hundreds of sermons, widely shared online. Married to Joyce, a Christian who prayed for his salvation, they had no children. His teachings, emphasizing victory over sin through Christ, stirred thousands at seminars, though some criticized his focus on demonic influence. Green’s words, “God’s Word is the only standard for truth,” underscored his uncompromising style. His ministry, marked by humility, continues to influence evangelical circles globally

Sermon Transcription
This is tape number four in a series. We urge you to listen to all the tapes in the series in numerical order so that the whole teaching can be received and understood. Listening to a part of this series or to the tapes out of sequence can lead to a misunderstanding of the nature, the intent, and the importance of this series. Ephesians 2 and 1st Corinthians 4. All right, now we looked at this scripture earlier, and I want to say it one more time in Ephesians 2. We're going to see that we were dead in our trespasses and sins when we're not led by the Spirit of God to put to death the deeds of the flesh. If we're not being led by the Spirit of God, if you're let work for the Spirit, you'll not carry out the desires of the flesh. The flesh is sins and transgresses of God's law. The sins and transgresses, go ahead and turn it on up there, brother. And these are the things that bring the powers of darkness, as we know, attach themselves to these sins of the flesh because they break God's law of love. Now, we've already seen that. And this is why we're having all the bunions. This is what we're working out of the great falling away today. And we're getting ready to meet the bridegroom because he's coming after a holy and blameless bride. Is that correct? Is she going to be holy? Now, holy means the nature and character of God, and we're going to see some more about that. Lawlessness is the opposite of righteousness, and righteousness is being holy. Holy is the nature and character of God. Now, I want you to see something now, and Ephesians 2, remember this. And you were dead in your trespasses and sins in which you formerly walked. Now, when you're dead in your trespasses and sins under the wrath of God, that's how Jesus came to save us. We formerly walked according to the course of the world. There it is on the screen, the nature and character of the flesh. According to the Prince of Power there, there you see it on the screen. All the works of the flesh is the nature and character of the devil, and of the demon spirit. This demon spirit that right now, not yesterday or tomorrow, it's right now working in, inside the sons of disobedience. Who are the sons of disobedience? The ones in the next verse who we formerly live in the lust for flesh and desire the flesh and the mind. Every one that walks out desires the flesh and lusts the flesh and of the mind, which is where we've been walking. This wasn't what we've called church, and this is why it's become a dwelling place of demons, because we've been sons of disobedience, and now we hear the trumpet blowing, and we know, though we see that we are not prepared to meet the bridegroom, we don't want to face the bridegroom right now. We would shrink back at his coming because we have been programmed to shrink back to the Word of God. And we're children of wrath. That's who the sons of disobedience are. They walk out of the lust and works of the flesh. They follow doctrines that do not conform to God, and so they walk and talk like the world, like we saw in James 3. Bless God and curse your neighbor. It's worldly, fleshly, and demonic. That's exactly what this verse right here is saying. You can become religious, set in a religious setting, gather yourself around doctrines that do not conform you to God, and you're still working after it. There it is, the world, the flesh, and the demon spirits right there. Isn't that what they said in James 3? This wisdom doesn't come from the above. It's worldly, fleshly, and demonic, where you come bless God, and you're not walking in righteousness and holiness. You're still cursing your neighbor. These things right here are still in your life. And they said, whoever wants to, brother, don't speak, that's what it calls the adulterous whore church. That's the same one in Revelation. I'm going to tie those things together. We had some time right here. And we're going to see who gets the mark of God in some other things right there. But this beast that came up out of the earth is the world, is the church today, that looks like a lamb, but they speak like a dragon. They look like a lamb. They're supposed to look like the Lord Jesus Christ, but this is what comes out of their mouth. And this is where every one of us found ourselves. And the ones, the wise virgins, are waken up from the dead. And Christ is shining on them. Amen? Now, if that son of disobedience, we saw, and I want you to remember this in Ephesians 5, verse 5, For you can know with certainty that no immoral person or any impure person, that's impurity right there, because we know that Jesus came to make his bride holy, blameless, spotless. We see in verses 27, she's going to be holy and blameless. And then in verse 26, He's going to cleanse her by the washing of the water of the Word. You cannot be cleansed by the washing of the water of the Word when you don't come to the Lord to love Him with all your heart. I'm going to tell you what, you have to love God more than anything else for this work to perform its work in you. Or it'll just be a religious exercise. So now, this is what I encourage you. Don't ever be tied to the personalities of men. Everything you see in the Word, everything you ever hear good, you don't give men glory and everything. It's good because somebody got out of the way and God got in there. Amen? And if you want to see Him again, you don't look for men with power to pray for you. You look for Jesus to work through somebody to pray for you. Our motives get wrong. I mean, well, let me ask you something. When you have a problem or some serious disease come on you and everything, what's the first thing that came to you, man? Some man. Some man that could help you. Immediately your mind goes, you know, holler out Jesus. That's the way we're programmed, amen? We don't cry out Jesus. I know one time I did and it worked. I'd finished one of these meetings and I was over in Lake Country then. I'll tell you what, I fell out on the floor and everything in me. Death was already coming up my legs. And boy, I'll tell you what, I didn't even know what I was in this world in my mind. I don't know what the devil did to me. It was a stroke or something. But I knew if I got in that ambulance they sent out to me, I'd die. I didn't get in. I could stay there and quote a scripture for five hours. And I want you to know he raised me up off of that thing. And I'll holler Jesus. You ought to know that I'll holler Jesus. I'll holler Jesus all afternoon. Verse 5, For you can know with certainty that no immoral, impure person or covetous man who isn't an adulterer, that's the one that practices these things and practices sin and will not overcome it, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ. Now let's go to verse 6. Let no one deceive you with empty words. Because of these very things right here, this covetousness, impurity, immorality, idolatry, the wrath of God, that means the wrath of God that comes through God's law, which commands us to walk in love, is going to come upon the sons of disobedience. Who are the sons of disobedience? The ones who refuse to repent and lay down their lives of selfishness and come to the Lord with a whole heart. There it is. That's sons of disobedience. Now, if that's what a son of disobedience, what does a son of obedience look like? 1 Peter 4. Here we go. We saw what the sons of disobedience walked. Now we're going to see in 1 Peter 1, verse 14, the sons, how obedient children walk. Verse 14. As obedient children, you're no longer disobedient children who walk after the lust of flesh. As obedient children, do not be conformed to what? I can't hear you. One more time. Former lusts which were years, which were years, when you're walking in the ignorance and the futility of the world. Amen? Now that's when you're walking in ignorance and spiritual darkness. But now, like the Lord Jesus Christ who called you, you're going to walk as He walked. You're going to be holy in some of your behavior. I can't hear you. You're going to walk like the Lord Jesus Christ in all, all, all, all your behavior. In other words, you're going to walk like God Almighty. Jesus, the nature and character of God. We're going to be conformed to the image of Jesus. And we're the Spirit of God leads us to walk and talk like Jesus. And when we have a love affair with God, it's the easiest thing that ever came about. And if we make a mistake, we've made one. And we'll get back up and we will make them. We'll, we'll, we'll repent, get another blood. Jesus, forgive us. God will see the blood. We're forgiven. The works of darkness have to leave. The works of darkness can only move in our lives when we break in God's law of love. Love God, love your neighbor. And anytime you don't, brother, I don't care what you've got going for you, you're going to live with the frogs. You just write it down in your little book, front row, back row, choir, platform, or 35-year pen, you're going to live where you're going to get killed. Amen? Now, that's just a way of it. So there, verse 16. Now, once again, folks, we, so, you know, look here. You can go read those scriptures right there. And people just nod their head. Yeah, yeah, that's in the Bible all right. But they can't see it. They can't hear it. They don't have ears to hear because when the doctrine has already captured your heart, the only thing you can see in the Word of God is what fits in your doctrine, and it's blind as a bat. You don't have ears to hear. Can't hear, see, or understand. Disciples are the only one, that's why it's the Virgin, the only one can see what's in this Word right here. And everybody else is offended. Jesus becomes a rock of offense. Everything that doesn't come in, when you read the rest of the Bible, it doesn't cover these partial truths. Well, then, Jesus, you stumble over the stumbling stone, 1 Peter 2. That's what the Pharisees did. They stumbled over the stumbling stone. They established their own righteousness. They had their own righteousness. This was a doctrine that does not conform you to God. It said, establish your own righteousness, and you do not submit the righteousness of God. That's exactly what it did. I better keep that over here. Now, because it is written, verse 16, you shall be holy for what? I am holy. Now, let's look at verse 17 and not act like it's not there. And if you address his father, the one who imparts sleep, what does the father do? He's the judge. Was he judge according to each man's work, his conduct? And I want to tell you something. I'm going to tell you something. When we saw in Galatians 6, 7, and 8, when you sow to the flesh, you're going to reap corruption and judgment. But you sow the Spirit, you reap eternal life. And you can't sow the Spirit unless you're led by the Spirit of God, and that's totally the grace. I mean, we fall at the feet of the Lord Jesus Christ. There's no hope. There's no way. We're dead, folks, without Jesus. Amen? All right, now. And if you address his father, the one who imparts sleep, judges according to each man's work, conduct yourself in what? I can't hear you. Is it really there? Conduct yourself in fear during your time of stay on the earth. Now, I'm going to write, the fear of God's beginning of wisdom. But I'm going to tell you something. When you walk in partial truth, you have no reason to fear because you've explained the enemy in a way, you've explained judgment in a way, you've explained away everything. There's no reason to walk in fear. You've got a false assurance. And fear of God's beginning of wisdom. Now, how are we born again? We have to be washed by the Word of God, and we remove all the works of darkness. Jesus comes in the Spirit of God and the Word of God. Sanctification is being washed. These things out of our hearts. How are they washed out of our hearts? When we begin to love God more than we do all the selfishness right here, that's when the Word of God performs its work in us. Amen? That's what sanctification is. We get washed. I mean, it's just easy to do. You do the thing your heart loves. But now, if you love this self, that inner man right here, you can't see him real good. Push him up there where they can see him right there. Huh? All right, you did it while I wasn't looking. All right, that heart, the inner man. See, if your inner heart, if your inner man does not really love the Lord with all your heart, let me tell you something. You're going to welcome the thoughts right here of demon pride. You're not going to take them captive. You're going to welcome anger over here. You're going to welcome hatred over here. You're going to welcome criticism over here. You'll welcome sarcasm over here. You'll welcome His name because you don't have a right relationship with the Lord. But if you draw near to God, He draws near to you. And when you start seeking Him, buddy, He'll encourage you. He'll encourage you. And then a love relationship again. That's what the whole purpose of curfew is. Be innocent. Be innocent of evil just like Adam was at the very beginning before he fell. Amen? All right, now I want to go on. Verse 22. Since you have an obedience to the Word, this Word of God, what do you do? You purify your souls for, and what's the result of it? It's a sincere love of the brethren. When you remove, you purify your souls right here of the truth. You're fervently loving one another how? From the heart. And this is how you've been what? You're born again by walking after. You see, look here, folks. When you no longer walk after the flesh, what are you walking after? The Spirit. You're walking in the flesh, but you're walking in the spiritual realm. Amen? You're born again into the spiritual realm. Because the goal of this instruction right here is love from the pure heart. And I want to tell you what. When this is taught in this Bible, it separates the wheat and the tares. Well, if you don't love God, you're not going to stay. If you don't love God, I don't want you to stay. Because the devil is just going to work with you until you try to spread leaven and cause dissension and speak curses against the pastor and everybody else there. Just go on. I'd rather be 10 of us that's going to walk with God. We don't need to have 500 and they don't love one another. And then you got up to 1,500 and they don't love one another. Then we got up to 3,000 and they didn't love one another. Got up to 4,000 and they didn't love one another. And then everybody started coming to see how you built church. You can go all over the world and tell you how you get nickels, noses, and numbers. What does God need with 4,000 ungodly numbers? He only served eight through the flood, eight righteous. You think he has any problem? There's only a few who want to be holy. You think I can make anybody holy? You want to get it? I've tried to. I wasn't too holy myself, but I tried, you know. I love God and I did what I knew. Now, boys, I'm going to tell you, when you get this, it puts you in a rest because there's nothing you can do about it. I'm going to take it from me. I told some people I took off the first year there and I thought I was going to get away. I'd been better off if I checked in and sang Quentin. I'll tell you, God knows how to get your attention, buddy. He can break down the pride of power. I'll tell you what, he can humble you. I've had so many things help me, I'm afraid to talk about some of them. He can change your direction. I praise God for this. But I'll tell you what, he said, I'm going to cause you to possess the Holy Mountain. See, it's all God, folks. Glory be to God forevermore. You keep that guitar handy there, brother. Praise the Lord. All right, now, since you purify your soul for a fervently loving one another from the heart, isn't that good? This is how you're born again through this Word. You're born again, not a seed which is perishable, but you're imperishable. You're born again through the living and abiding Word of God. You can't be born again through the Word of God until you have a right relationship with God. The only way you're going to have one of Him is to draw near to Him. Now, don't try to just help Him out, because serving God out of the flesh sends you to hell. I'm going to tell you something, folks. Do you know if we'll just walk in these things and get our eyes and our hearts off of people and things and get our mind on Jesus and just really what He's doing with us right now, I'm going to tell you what, folks, He's going to be doing things. He's opened doors. You know, I walked out of a hotel there the other day, and it had that electric door, and I just walked up that thing, and it opened, and there's another in there. And, boy, so I walked up to it, and it opened up, and I said, Dear God, that's the way I want to go. Whoo! Praise God forevermore. All right, now, let me ask you something. I want to ask you something. Is being doers of God's law what righteousness is? Amen. Is that what holiness is? Amen. Is that what being saved from the wrath of God is? Amen. It's unrighteousness right here that has the wrath of God on us in the first place. Now, you see how Jesus comes to save us? Jesus, through the Word and the Spirit, He starts removing these things. See, we have the mind of Satan right here, and then He begins removing these things. Our heart gets purified, and our mind gets renewed because we walk and talk like the people of the world, and we repent, and our citizenship moves to heaven, and we have our mind renewed, so we have the mind of Christ. Show it there, brother, what the mind of Christ is. There it is. That's the way to walk in heaven. Now, who don't want it? Go home. I mean, brother, people have more money than a show dog would jump over, and they can't have any of it. Why don't we put it back up there, brother? They can't get any of that. All right, now, I want to show you something. Now, I want you to turn to Deuteronomy 4 and Deuteronomy 5, okay? Let me show you something. You know what? Let me ask you something. Did we see that eternal life... Now, I want to ask you something. Did we see that the way to have eternal life was to keep the law? I can't hear you. That's right. But, so we have somebody just come in here that's new to, we don't, look at me, we don't go around, and you know I'm going to keep a commandment today. We instinctively keep the law of God. We instinctively keep the law because we walk in a righteousness. We don't establish our own righteousness of the law. We walk in a righteousness. In Romans 3, we're going to say it later on. See, the righteousness, it comes through faith in Jesus Christ. It's right in God's eyes. And see, the law is not made for a righteous man. The law is made for those who walk in unrighteousness. The ones who walk in unrighteousness are the ones who do not love the Lord with all their heart. And God says, I just don't want you. You're worthless. You're worthless. So he has vessels of mercy and he has vessels of wrath. And he's got a law here that you will not be able to go outside those walls right there and relate to anyone. I don't care whether it's your mama, it's your daddy, your sister, your brother, and no one will be able to hear even what this word is saying unless they have a heart for God, unless they're willing to come to the word. If they've got their oxen, their families, they've got their building, they've got their wood and stone, their hearts, they will never hear what you're saying because their heart is set on earthly things, not heavenly things. Now, I want you to know something. If we have eternal life through doing God's law and Jesus came to perform a love in us, which instinctively keeps that law, and Romans 8 and 10, why do we have this law written on our hearts? You know when he writes a law on your heart, he wrote a law on your heart that says, Love me and love your neighbor. And any time that you do anything that comes out of your heart there that doesn't love God or love your neighbor, your heart's going to condemn you. And so you walk along, and you have this peace with the Lord, and you're pleasing the Lord, you love God and love your neighbor, and all his angels are saving you because you're inherited in salvation, they're protecting you, you're the property of God, they have a hedge around you, and you're an adopted son, and you're walking around, and they're serving you, and you're protected, and that demonic realm of darkness out there knows it, and they can't touch you. And because he loves you and approves you, because you're changing from the character and nature of this world and Satan, to no longer walk on, he knows you're going to make mistakes, but he knows that you're going to walk, when you walk in peace, you love him. And you go along, and then you will see any of these works of the flesh right here come up, and immediately, your heart will condemn you, and you lose your peace, and the Lord is smacking you eternally with some of them demons. Anytime you haven't got peace, it's demons on you. Now some of you may not even know what I'm talking about when I talk about peace, because you never had peace. I imagine there's a big number of you that's never had peace. And you think you know what I'm talking about, and you don't know what I'm talking about. And this is some of the things we're going to learn together. But then, when you break God's law of love, he's got the law written on your heart, love God, love your neighbor. When you say Ten Commandments, I want you to automatically think, love God, love your neighbor. Don't think about sacrificing calves and bulls and rituals and things like that. Think, love God, love your neighbor. That's what he's saying. That's what it means to us. And so any of these works of the flesh come up, anger, unforgiveness, resentment. What are you doing right there? You broke God's law of love. Immediately, your heart's condemned, and your peace leaves you, and it'll return because you return back to God and say, God, my heart left you for a moment. And I love you, Father, more than I do anything going on in this world. And I love you more than any of the character and nature of the selfish, self-centered flesh. And Lord, in the name of Jesus, I repent of that, and my heart doesn't love it. My heart doesn't enjoy it. I made a mistake. And the moment that comes out of your mouth, bang. God sees your heart. It's covered with the blood. Sometimes you say a lot of things, and it don't work because you're just talking from here up. But then when you say it immediately, the Lord sees the attitude of your heart, the intent of the heart. That's what God looks at all the time. And he covers that with the blood. Bang. God looks down. He no longer sees that sin there. And then when God no longer sees the sin because he sees the blood of it, the powers of darkness have no ground in your life as long as God doesn't see sin in your life. And then when God doesn't see sin, bang. The powers of darkness come off. You're restored back to peace. You have been spanked because you're a son in whom he loved. He's chasing the reproved. And in that sweet fellowship, glory be to God, we see an old Bob out with the Father right there. It will be all on you, and your relationship will grow more and more, everything over time, every time you suffer. It pleases God that Jesus suffered. It pleases God that you suffer because in the suffering you prove, and in your test, you love God more than you do anything else going on in this world. Can I give you a little secret, folks? I've said it before, but I'm seeing where this whole everything going on in this world is not of God. It's dumb. Foolishness. Garbage. People out here, self-centered, that walk in this nature, they play demonic games. You know people just get in their houses and just stay because they don't want to have to face all the competition and selfishness and self-centered. People are so hurt, words hurt. And so we're going to love and encourage one another, and we're going to love and encourage other people. And, brother, we can say just exactly what we've been teaching here, but just like he said, if I can get an opportunity, I would share it with the Pope. I'd like to. And I wouldn't tell him anything less than what I've told you. I might not start on day four. Unless I knew it was just going to be three minutes. All right, now, so we see what the gospel is, is the commandments. Is that very plain? I mean, that's all it's ever been. That's the reason Jesus said, I didn't come to abolish it all. Look back in Deuteronomy 4, verse 13. So he declared you his what? Covenant. Now, he's telling me an old covenant right here, which he commanded you to what? You're going to perform walking, that is what? And he wrote them on a tablet of stone. He wrote the Ten Commandments, says the covenant. Right then, where are the Ten Commandments written today? On our heart. What are they written there for? Analyze? There it is. So now, see, so I want to see that was our covenant then, but now our covenant, and they had their rituals and sacrifices when they broke God's law to roll their sins back. We have our perfect sacrifice, the Lord Jesus Christ, who's perfected us in love, and when we confess our sins, it's covered with the blood of Jesus Christ, and it's removed. And we have a better ministry, a better covenant, with better promises today. Amen? Now, let me just show you what happened to these that sacrificed bulls and goats and so forth right here in Deuteronomy 5. I'm just going to go through the commandments. Deuteronomy 5, verse 7. You shall have no other God before Him, and you shall not make for yourself an idol. Now, I want you to stop right there and wonder, well, why did he put that there? Let me tell you why he put it there. He wants you to love Him with all your heart. That's why he put it there. That's what he's telling them. He's fixing to tell these people to be holy. You can't be holy unless you love the Lord with all your heart. And then he went on to tell them such things as you're not going to commit adultery, murder, bear false witness, steal, covet, and honor your father and mother. If you love your neighbors as yourself, none of these things are going to happen in your life. So see, that's the law. Love God and love your neighbor. Amen? And then he says to them in verse 29, Oh, that they had such a heart in them that they would... What? Fear me and keep my commandments always. And then we see there in verse 33, You shall walk in all the way which the Lord your God has commanded you that you may... What? I'm going to tell you what. Can I tell you something? This applies to you right now. You've got to walk in all the commandments of God that you may live, and the reason you don't walk in it is because you're disobedient to the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. And you've got to walk in all the commandments that the Lord your God has commanded you that you may live and that it may be well with you and that you may prolong your days, and not being destroyed by the powers of darkness in the land which you shall possess. I may not go to show you how the powers of darkness carry out the curses and everything right here, but I'm going to tell you they do. And if I get a chance, I'll come back here, and I'll just show you how the powers of darkness carry out the curses. So then verse 5, he says, And you shall love the Lord your God with what? See, he's telling them right here. This reason I said have no other idols or have no God, because I want all your heart. Now who is it? Someone that's married, and your heart goes somewhere else. That's what adultery is. Amen? So adultery is when our hearts go to the ways of the world, the flesh and Satan, and God wants all our heart. And he doesn't have nothing but good. He said these blessings are going to overtake you. You're blessed coming and going. Everything you put your hands to is going to be blessed, because you walk and talk like me. You get all your prayers answered. Glory be to God. And you're anointed with oil, and they will be restored, not when it gets 70 degrees, or maybe, or perhaps, or could be. He said because it's effective prayer. What kind of folks that dwelleth much? That's a body of Christ's righteous people. And we've got crumbs. And in the midst of all these crumbs and everything, folks come through. See, everything that's a real thing is a counterfeit of, and you see the counterfeits come through. And the powers are not. You just put on all kind of manifestations. Show there is a power of God that will affect your life, I guarantee you. And there is a power of God that people walk in lawlessness. They're not the people of God. Did you see that in Matthew 7? Did you happen to notice that in Matthew 7, the ones that's practicing lawlessness right there are not of God? Well, do you think there might be a whole lot different place you and I are supposed to be walking? Let me ask you something. Why haven't we had that much discernment about spiritual gifts and things like it? You don't have discernment unless you're walking in love. We depend on wise folks show up. We depend on man going to show up. And boy, I tell you what, you start trusting men of the devil to bring you one, that's how you capture people's hearts with personalities and men. So he said, you're going to love the Lord your God with all your heart. And verse 6, And these words which I am commanding you today shall be where? They're going to be on your heart. And that's exactly where they are. Where is 15? For the Lord your God is amiss of you. It's what kind of God? He's jealous of God. Now, what is he jealous for, folks? He's jealous of your heart. And when your heart goes after... You can turn that thing back on, if you will, please. And when your heart goes after... Put the other one up there, please. When your heart goes after unforgiveness and pride and things like it, see, that's what adultery is. That's the way the world walks. You're not loving God when you do things like that, because these things don't please God. And our hearts... He wants our hearts to be one. And so that automatically makes you and me. You and me, I don't have to make a covenant with one another. When you and Jesus become one, and I and Jesus become one, we become one. We have one heart and one purpose. That's all. All our motivation is the Lord. Everything we do is Jesus. And boy, the more we love Him and please God, the more He pours it out on us. We give out one bucket and He gives us two. The next day we get ready for four. Now, in chapter 7, verse 6, For you are what kind of people? One more time. You're what kind of people? Were they a holy people then that kept the commandments of God? What kind of people today keep the commandments of God? A holy people today. For you are holy people to the Lord your God because the Lord your God has what? Chosen you. Now, just so we'll know what holiness is right there, I want you to see something. I want you to turn. Hold your place and turn over to Deuteronomy 28. Deuteronomy 28. Now, we see all the blessings. These blessings and curses apply today, right now, folks. They're here. If we get time, I'll show you what burnout is. There are going to be a lot of burnout seminars that people are going to be destroying. And if they don't turn from strife and stress, they're going to be destroyed. But I'm going to show you some Scripture later on in Deuteronomy 28 if I can think of it. And I'll show you what burnout is when we get some other foundation. And that's a new thing for getting destroyed, burnout. People that are walking in strife and stress are not being led by the Spirit of God. Ask me how I know. Now, verse 28. We see there in verse 9, The Lord will establish you as what kind of people? This is a blessing, right? He has a holy people to Himself as He swore to you, if, if, if, you do what? You're a holy people if you keep the commandments of the Lord and walk in His ways. Now, let me ask you something. What is holiness right there, folks? Is holiness right there keeping the commandments of God? Holiness was keeping the commandments of God then, and holiness is keeping the commandments of God today. Amen? And we instinctively walk in holiness and keep the commandments of God when we let the Word and Jesus wash all of these works from our heart right there. Are you hearing what I'm saying? Shake your head at me. Okay, now. I want you to look at me in verse 15. Now, we're going to, let's come back there in verse 15 in just a minute. Now, let's, first, let's go back over there to verse 6. Now, let me ask you something. Do you think everybody wants to walk in holiness? Do you think that's where the crowds are going to come to to give up the world and the things in the world and all that stuff? Do you think the crowds are wanting to lay down their life right here? Only a few are going to do that. Only a few bear the fruit of holiness. Let's look at verse 6. For you are a holy people to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for His own possession out of all the peoples that are on the face of the earth. Now, the holy people are the people that walk and talk like God, and they're the only people in the world. If that's always been the people that walk in covenant and look like God, they don't walk and talk like the rest of the world. Amen? You all hear me? Huh? The Lord is God, did not set His love, nor choose you, because you were the more in number. You're not going to be the most, because then any of the peoples for you are going to be the what? I can't hear you. All right, now I want you to stop right here, and I want you to remember something that we looked at. Now, let me ask you something right here, and I want you to really listen to me. Did we see over there the good tree cannot produce the fruit of holiness, righteousness? Amen? And a bad tree can't produce good fruit, and a good tree can't produce bad fruit. Amen? The nature of God, you can't do it. And if you don't produce the good fruit, in other words, you produce the bad fruit, which you see on the board right there, you're going to be cut down and thrown into the fire and destroyed. Is that right? Now, that's the blessings and curses right there. But then we saw, enter into the narrow gate, for the gate is wide and abroad is the way it leads to destruction, and many are those who are going to go by it, but few, very few, are going to go the narrow way through the narrow gate of holiness, because their hearts can't give up this world to love the God. And what's going on in this world is to love the Lord with all their heart. They would rather be citizens of this world than citizens of heaven. Let me see that. There are only going to be a few. Now, I want you to get to the other part there. Many are going to come to me on that day and say, Lord, Lord! But it's the ones who do what that's going to go into heaven? You have to do the will of the Father, which is love the Lord with all your heart and your neighbor as yourself, and that's what the commandments of God's law is. But then they're going to say, I cast out demons! I did miracles! I prophesied! And he said, I never did know you, you who continued to practice what? Breaking the law. Because when you practice breaking the law, what you prove, that you're loving things, lawless things, more than you are righteous things. And if you love the Lord with all your heart, you'll overcome all lawlessness. That's it. Simple as that. The Lord said, those who love me are going to do what? Keep my commandments. And those who hate me are going to what? They're not going to keep the commandments. The commandments is the guideline. That's what's going to judge you. Now, the Ten Commandments with the covenant in the Old Testament, can I tell you something? That's what the gospel leads you and I to do today. And when we say Ten Commandments, I want you to learn to substitute two things. Love the Lord with all your heart, strength, soul, and mind, and your neighbor as yourself. Now, you do not love your neighbor as yourself, because these things right here in our life, right here, all this selfishness and self-centeredness, when we receive Jesus Christ, and the Spirit of God moves into us, then the Spirit of God becomes worsening us and cleansing us, and it's a process. It removes this, and our mind is renewed. The Spirit of God is faithful. See, it called you unfaithful. He is going to bring it to pass. And then you're conformed to the image of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen? There are only going to be a few. That's exactly why it's saying a few in Matthew 7, because the many are going to want to practice lawlessness. That's the reason they're going to Broadway destruction. Only a few want to go through the narrow gate of holiness and be like God and give up. So, because most people want to find their portion in this world rather than being a citizen of heaven. You know what he read in Hebrews 11 about they looking forward to the city not built with hands. That's all the people in faith in Hebrews 11. They were looking for the city not built with hands, but by the hand of God, and they look forward to the promise. The promise is their covenant promises. Amen? All right, now. Now, let's go on and see what happened to them. Let's go back to 7. Deuteronomy 7, and we're holding 28. Okay, now. Verse 9. Deuteronomy 7, verse 9. Know, therefore, that the Lord your God, He is a God, the faithful God who keeps His covenant and His love and kindness to a thousand generations, those who, what? Who love Him and the ones that love Him. What are they going to do? Keep His commandments. That's what covenant is. That's what it was then. That's what it is now. Verse 10. But He repays those who hate Him. Psalm 81, 15 says, Those that hate the Lord pretend obedience to Him. He repays those that hate Him to their face. What's He going to do? That's what the curses are for. He's going to destroy those who don't keep His commandments because they do not love Him with all his heart. He will not delay with him who hates Him. He'll repay him to his face. Amen? Now, look in verse 12. Then it shall come about because you listen to these judgments and you keep and you do them that the Lord your God will keep with you His covenant. Verse 15. And then watch what happens as they sacrifice their bull, goats, and heifers to roll back their sins. This is what God did back in those days. And the Lord will remove from you how much sickness? All the sickness is on this congregation He'll remove. He'll not put on you any of the harmful disease of the world which you've known, but He's going to lay them on all who hate you. The ones that hate you are the ones who are of the world. People of the world hate the people of God. Because you won't join in their gossip slander and all the evil things that they enjoy. It's a totally different world in heaven than what we live in right here. Everybody here walks like Satan. And then you become totally different when you want to be like God. And you won't be like God unless you love Him with all your heart. There's no way. And you can't be like God unless you come to the Lord Jesus Christ and to Calvary to put your sins there. There's no way. Amen? Now, I want to show you, tell you something right here. See, I want to remind you that we're in Hebrews 8, 6, that we have a better covenant, a better ministry, and better promises today. And there they were. Back there they had all their sicknesses removed. And through our traditions and lying traditions, we've learned how to live with death and curses. And that's what we're coming out of. So now back over in Deuteronomy 28. Now, we see, we saw that holiness is keeping all the blessings, the first 15 verses. But it shall come about, if you will not obey the Lord your God, to observe, to do, how many of His commandments? All His commandments, His statutes, which I charge you today, that all these curses are going to come over you. And what are they going to do? They're going to partake you. And we look there in verse 45. So all these curses shall come on you and pursue you and overtake you until you're what? You're going to be destroyed. They're going to pursue you. Does that sound pretty active? I wonder how curses pursue you. That's the ones who do not keep the commandments of God. You don't keep the commandments of God when you're not led by the Spirit of God. And that's how the powers of darkness are built, attach themselves to these sins of the flesh and build strongholds and fortresses in you because you have other roots of pride and greed, approval of man and all these other different things. Instead, the one root, loving the Lord with all your heart. Your motivation isn't adultery to God. He's jealous of your heart. And if you won't love Him and you won't repent, He destroys you. That's His law today. And He's already got His prison. He's got His case. And He's already got it all fixed up out there. And no one is going to understand what's happening in the spiritual realm. You're not going to receive the wisdom of God. You're not going to understand the wisdom of God, the spiritual realm, unless we have wise hearts and come to the Lord with all our heart. So these curses are going to pursue you. They're going to overtake you. They're going to destroy you. Why? Because you would not obey the Lord your God by what? Keeping His commandments. All right, now let's see what happened then when they didn't keep commandments. And I want you to know that's exactly what's happening to us right now. Jesus didn't abolish the law, did He? He said He came to fulfill it. Now, we know how He came to fulfill it. And it's not with a form of godliness. It's walking in godliness. Now, verse 59, Then the Lord, because the curse is going to pursue you, and here come the powers of darkness. Boy, it just amazed me like I blowed my mind when I first got in deliverance. I began casting out demons of cancer and tumor. Cancer and tumor are two different demons that work together. I used to be able to call up all the demons of destruction. And those diseases began calling off their names in the person. And that was an interesting thing to do. And I looked at my Bible and I said, Well, where's all that? It's right there. We're reading it. That's them right here. See, they get their ground through these other roots. This is how sickness gets you when you've got other roots besides the Lord. Are you hearing what I'm saying? Verse 59, Then the Lord will bring extraordinary plagues on you and your descendants. They're going to come on your children, even severe and lasting plagues and miserable and chronic sicknesses. He told them, he said, I'll bring back on you the diseases of Egypt or the world. You can't bring them back unless you've already taken them off of somebody. He's going to bring them back, of which you're afraid they're going to cling to you. Also, every sickness and every plague which is not written in this book of the law, the Lord's going to bring on you until you are what? You are destroyed. We look back at verse 47 and we see why. Because you did not serve the Lord your God with what? Joy and a glad heart for what? Bondness of all things. Therefore you shall serve your enemies, whom the Lord is going to send on you in hunger and thirst and nakedness. Remember Laodicea? In the lack of all things. And he's going to put an iron yoke on your neck until he has destroyed you. So we find all of these interesting things that are hard to go after in this world. And not knowing the wisdom of God, we let our heart go out and we build treasures on this earth because our hearts are here and our citizenship is here. Our hearts are not set on spiritual things. And we die with them. And we find our portion and our hearts going out to this earth instead of being a citizen of heaven. Are you hearing what I'm saying? You know what, now that I've come this far, hold your place and go over to Job. Boy, I didn't plan on doing this, but I'm going to take just a minute. I feel like... I wonder who brought the problem. Now we go to Deuteronomy 28 and I want you to turn to Job 2. Okay? Let me show you something. And we go to Deuteronomy 28 first. Okay? Job 2 and Deuteronomy 28. Now in Deuteronomy 28, here's what we're going to read. Here's part of the curses. I don't think I'm going to have time to go through all of them. Verse 35, The Lord will strike you on the knees and legs with what? Balls from which you cannot be healed. Now who's going to strike you with balls? The Lord's going to strike you. Now you look back in verse 27. The Lord will smite you with the balls of Egypt and with tumors, with scab, with itch, which you cannot be healed. Now who's going to smite you with these things? The Lord. Now let's see what happened to Job. Okay? Now hold your place there. We're going to come back over that way in a minute. And then we see in Job 2, I'm going to make this quick. Verse 6, So the Lord said to Satan, The Lord said to who? Satan. Did I tell you Satan the powers that I can scare out the curses? Okay. Now the Satan the powers that I can do not do one thing without the permission of God. You can write that down in your book. Verse 6, So the Lord said to Satan, Behold, he is in your power, only do what? Spare his life. In other words, he said you can put some stuff on him, but you can't kill him. And then Satan went out from the presence of the Lord, and what did he do? He smote Job with what? Sore balls from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head. May I ask you who put the balls, who smote Job with the balls? I said right here Satan did it. Well isn't that an interesting thing? Back in the curse it says God does it. Now we'll understand that in just a minute. When he turns Satan loose, see his instruments, Satan and the powers of darkness are God's instruments of indignation. They cannot make one move without the permission of God. You hear what I'm saying? And they get permission through the, when you break God's law, they can move in. Are you hearing what I'm saying? Now turn to Job 18. Job 18. Now we say that in the curses the Lord smites you with balls. That's his curses that he sends upon you, and Satan and the powers of darkness scare him out. Is that correct? Now we see a little example of it right here. Right there, let's begin in verse 5. Indeed the light of the wicked goes out, and the flame of his fire gives no fire. Now I want to ask you something. Does the light of the foolish virgins go out? They go to the wise virgins, they say, our lamps are going out, our light's going out. I want you to know the lamp of the wickedness, the wicked is sin. And so you know what is really happening to the foolish virgins in the light of day? They're being destroyed by the powers of darkness, and they see the remnant over there, and they see the wise virgin, and they see nothing. They scoffed and persecuted them, for then they see they're not being hurt and destroyed. And they go over there and say, I want the spirit, I want the all. Now here's what's going to be happening to the foolish virgins. This is what you see in verse, let's go to the next verse, 6. The light of his tent is what? That's spiritual darkness. His lamp goes out from above. See, there's no light from above, from God. His vigorous stride is shortened. Look at me, folks. Look at me. First, you know it's just like when you're not in the fire, when the powers of darkness are not on you, you skip like a calf, and your side is strong, you see, and your stride is long, and you've got... But then, when the powers of darkness begin moving in on you, this is the way I walked some time back, and it starts getting shorter. You're not skipping like a calf anymore. And you know why? Selfishness, self-centeredness. See, here's what it brings on. Look at the rest of that verse right there. His own schemes do what? By your standard of measure, it's measured unto you. That's the law of God. What you give out is what you get. For he is thrown into the what? Net by what? Look at me, folks. Look here. Look at me. Somebody's not looking. Look at me. The way you walk by your own path, the righteousness of God, and you practice these things, you're thrown in the net by your own selfish and self-centered ways. That's the law of God. When you don't walk in love, they're there waiting for you. And they tempt you not to walk in love. They tempt you about pride. Do you ever notice any time anybody does anything to you, immediately in your mind is anger, unforgiveness, resentment, revenge, and all these things. Those powers of darkness. They're trying to get you to break God's law. They want to get in there and kill you. That's how your heart is tested. You're in a test tube in this world. Only the ones that love God are going to be the strong ones. They're the only ones who are going to survive it. Everyone else is worthless. If I go back to Isaiah 5 and 6, I can show it very plainly. Isaiah 4, I can show you salvation. Only the ones who are going to walk holy through this fire of judgment and fire are going to be the ones who remain. They're going to be saved. They're the ones who are going to be recorded for life. Now listen to me. I want to tell you a little bit more than coming and sitting in a meeting. His vigorous stride is shortened, verse 7. His own schemes bring him down. Now see, that's where the fruitless virgins are going to be walking. Their own schemes, their own walk is going to bring them down. Their light is going to be going out. All of a sudden, they're going to realize destruction is hell on them, but they've got a people they can look at. They see it's not happening to them. These are called the wise virgins who are getting ready to meet the bridegroom. Verse 8. For he is thrown into the net by his own feet, his own walk. He steps on the webbing. There's a webbing in the net. And a snare seizes him by the heel. There's a snare. You see, it's all through the Word of God. When you see in the net, when you see in about the snare, when you see in the webbing, every time it's talking about the powers of darkness. And a trap snaps shut on him. There's a trap, snare, and the webbing in the net. You see it through the Word, and that's what the Lord is talking about. A noose for him is hidden in the ground, and a trap for him on the path. Now look here. Here's what you've got. You've got the trap. You've got the noose. You've got the snare. You've got the webbing. You've got the net. That's all the powers of darkness. Habakkuk 1 is a real good place to see the net, that the powers of darkness. And they take over the dwelling places that are not theirs. They're called the Chaldeans there. And that's exactly what it's referring to in Acts 13. That it may not come on you, which was spoken of by the prophets. Said, just go ahead and scoff. Said, even though someone explained this to you when I was unbelieving, and that's exactly the way people are today. If you could explain it to them, they'd scoff at you. Because it's totally contrary to these lying traditions that we even had handed down to them. So then you walk into this trap by your own path and your own walk and your own schemes. And then here's the powers of darkness in verse 11. And all around, terrors, there's the powers of darkness frighten him. That's happened to all of us. And they harry him. That means oppression. You just write it. They harry him at every step. His strength is famished. See, they just draw the strength and just weaken you right out. Isn't that right? And then his strength is famished and calamity is ready at his side. In other words, he's not protected from covenant. His skin is devoured by disease. There's the plagues and pestilence. And who's doing all of these things here? The firstborn of death, Satan, is devouring his limbs. How many see that? Amen? The firstborn of death is devouring his limbs. That's Satan. And they march him. The powers of darkness march him before the king of terrors. Who's the king of terrors? Satan. And verse 16, his roots are dried below. His branch is cut off. In other words, it's destroyed. Hey, is Jesus divine? Are we the branches? Buddy, when you're not tied into the vine, the branch is cut off and you're thrown into the fire. That's exactly what John 15 is talking about. Memory of him, verse 17, perisheth from the earth. He has no name abroad. In other words, he don't have any name in heaven. Amen? Don't find somebody to preach a funeral to him. He just went on to be of the Lord. He is driven from light into what? Spiritual darkness. He's chased from the inhabited world. See, God destroys in this world everyone that does not honor and love him and obey him. That's the law of God. And verse 21, surely as such are the dwellings of the wicked, and this is the place, the dwellings of those who do what? Who do not know God. Isn't that interesting right there? And we see about Job right there in verse 19. Here's what Job said in verse 6. Job said, it's not a good thing to blame God. Know then that God has wronged me, and he's closed his net around him. See, Satan and the powers of darkness got on him, and he knew that. And the whole thing is about the judgment of God, Job, here. Behold, verse 7, he says, I cry violence. Verse 8, he has walled in my way so that I cannot pass, and he has put darkness upon my path. Amen? And you look in verse 11. He has also kindled his anger against me and considered me as his enemy. His troops, that's the army of the Lord. People are singing about that Joel army over there, and they don't know that's the army of demons and destruction of the last days. And I hope we can get a chance to maybe share a little bit of that. But his troops come together and build up their way against me, and they camp around my tent. And Job knew exactly what was around his tent, and that's what they're all talking about. Job is saying, I don't have any right for the judgment of the powers of darkness to be on me because, you know, I'm righteous and I've kept God's law. And they're trying to tell him, you know, those things wouldn't be there if you'd been righteous and you're just a hypocrite, you broke God's law, they wouldn't be there. Now, let's find out now, who was it, who is it that brought all the evil on Job? Now, it'll be interesting to know whether it's the devil or Satan. Now, turn over to Job 42 real quick, and we'll just look and see who brought Job 42. All right, now, we're going to see who brought the evil on Job. Verse 10, And the Lord restored the fortunes of Job when he did what? It seemed like Job began loving his friends instead of, are you hearing what I'm saying? He's agreeing with God, he's forgiving them, and God forgave him, amen? So when he prayed for his sins, God restored the fortunes, and the Lord increased all that Job had twofold. Then all his brothers and all his sisters and all that had known him came to him, and they ate bread with him in his house, and they consoled him and comforted him for all the evil that who had brought on him? The Lord. I can't hear you. The Lord. Now, I want to tell you something, folks. I want you to remember something right here. Satan and the powers of darkness do not do one thing without God. They're not the issue, God's the issue. And the powers of darkness are totally his instruments of the indignation. When you do something, your heart goes somewhere else, God's heart becomes jealous for you, he's jealous. You can't be in a walk in selfish jealousy. You can only be jealous from God's point of view because your whole life is to please God, and he's already got blessings on you that your heart even can't comprehend for those that love him. And, you know, coming up. So, the powers of darkness are his instruments, and they carry out the curses here, and I just wanted to show you some of that, and they bring the sickness and disease. And I want you to go back with me now to Deuteronomy 6. Will you please, just a minute. Deuteronomy 6. Deuteronomy 6, and we need to say this, see this right here. We need to say exactly what the Lord, we know holiness is to keep the commandments of God's law, and we look in verse 24. So the Lord God, Deuteronomy 6, verse 24, So the Lord commanded us to observe all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God for our good always, for what? Our survival it is today, and it will be what? It will be what? One more time, it's going to be what? It'll be righteousness, that's walking right in God's eyes for us, if we are careful to observe all the commandments before the Lord our God, just as he what? All right, now you know what we've seen. God says holiness is keeping his law. I've showed you that in the Word of God. The commandments of his law. I've showed you that righteousness is keeping the commandments of God's law. I'm showing you how sickness and disease came on because they were not righteous. We even go over immediately, we went over to James right there, and he's telling these people, look here. You harlot, you whore, you harlot church, you're coming over here and blessing God, and you're going right over here to curse your neighbor, from the same mouth come both blessings and curses, and he said, I already showed you in the Word of God that he says, when you go and judge your neighbor, who are you to go speak against your brother because you speak against your brother? You judge a law, and you become a judge of the law instead of become a doer of the law. And he said, I want to remind you that God is the one that can either save you or he can destroy you. Because this wisdom is worldly, fleshly, and demonic, that's what you're supposed to repent from, so you're adulterous, you're making yourself a friend of the world instead of a friend of God, and you're a friend of the world if you want to talk like the world, the enemy of God, and you're going to be killed and destroyed. So cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded, who are blessing God and cursing your neighbor, and then resist the devil, submit the whole council of God, resist the devil, and then he'll flee from you. You're no longer interested in him because he's not going to be able to talk to you. And then if you purify your hearts, you're going to be righteous. And then you pray for one another, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you'll be healed because it's an effective prayer of what kind of folks who develop much. You'll know it with all, and they will be restored. That's the blessings of covenant then, that's the blessings of covenant now. We've got a better one now than we had then. We just broke covenant with God. That's something to repent over, isn't it? And can I tell you something? Everybody that does not return to the Lord with all their heart and all their mind and all their strength is exactly what I was telling you in Deuteronomy 30. That's what true restoration is. That's the only restoration it is. It's not all the people that love all the different doctrines that come together and have a convention and be sweet to one another. You're going to return to the Lord with the whole heart, and you'll never be restored with captivity. Did I read that to you this morning in Deuteronomy 30? I'm not going to go to it right now, but we've seen about the righteous. Now, we've seen the righteous keeping the commandments of God. How is it possible for you and I to keep the commandments of God? Well, we'd have to love each other just like Jesus loved one another, wouldn't we? Wasn't that what he commanded us to do? Then, well, if we loved one another the way Jesus loved us, we would have to die to all of this. You're getting close. 1 Peter 2. 1 Peter 2. And see, when we make this something that we have to do, folks, you'll run 500 miles from it, and you'll miss it. But I'm going to tell you what, this is what the grace of God. The grace of God is not a canopy for lawlessness. 1 Peter 2. 1 Peter 2, verse 21. For you have been called for this purpose since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to what? We're going to follow what? In his steps. Now, he was the example. Did he walk in holiness and righteousness? Yes. That's exactly right. Now, we see an example. If he's the example, we're going to suffer as he suffered. In chapter 4, verse 1. Therefore, since Christ has suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with a what? Same purpose. We're going to have the same purpose. He was our example. Because he who has suffered in the flesh, what has he done? All right, I want you to look at me right. Do you suffer in the flesh and see some sin when you love the Lord with all your heart, and the Word of God showed you these things in your life? Has the Word of God showed you some things in your life since you've been sitting here? Absolutely. And then, if you love the Lord more than you do these things, in your heart you repentage and you turn from it, and the Word has been washed in your heart. May I ask you something? Have you been noticing more peace come on you every hour that you're sitting here? It's coming on you for this reason right there. When you're seeing these things in your heart, the Spirit of God is quickening. He's stopping you and saying, You've been doing this. He's been showing you that. And in your heart, you're saying, Boy, I'm not going to do that anymore. I love God more than I do that. And when you do it, the blood of Jesus is covering it right there. The Word is working. You're knowing the truth, and the truth is setting you free. And as you repent and it covers these sins, these old demons and everything that's been in there, these kind of nations are leaving you. And that's the reason you're getting in peace. Who's getting the glory? He's sent His Word to what? That's the reason we ought to be here all night. I tell you what, I believe we can be here all night and never outrun everything in town. All right, now. So we're going to suffer in the flesh and see some sin just like Jesus. And then verse 2, chapter 4, verse 2, says, "...to live the rest of time in the flesh." We're no longer going to live for the lust of men, the lust of flesh, but we're going to live for what? I can't hear you. We're going to live for the will of God. What is the will of God? Love the Lord with all our heart and our neighbor as ourselves. What does it say in Matthew 7? Many are going to say to me that day, Lord, Lord, but it's the one who does the will of the Father that's going to heaven. You have to die of the flesh and cease from sin. And that's what righteousness is. Then we go back and we see it very clearly. We're back there in 1 Peter 2, and we see exactly why Jesus... Did Jesus go to Calvary so you could have a canopy for your lawlessness? And did God want a holy people back in all of His other covenant? And all of a sudden, He just wanted some people to just nod their head. Yes, I believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died on the cross and raised my dead. Go to the bar room. Be religious. No! Why did He go to the cross? Verse 24. 1 Peter 2, 24. And Jesus Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross that we might watch. One more time. Everybody say it one time. What do you see here? Jesus went to Calvary that you'd die of sin, and you'd repent from your previous sin, put your sins out of blood and turn from them. That's what He went to Calvary for, so you'd have a place for them. Now let me ask you something. If this is repentance right here, repenting of all lost deeds of the flesh, Father, forgive me for all my sins. And you're still practicing. And you're still practicing. Lord, forgive me of criticism and hatred. And if you're still practicing criticism and hatred, have you repented? Alright! You're getting good! Now if you say, Lord, I repent of anger, greed, slander, and murder. And you still go and practice anger, greed, slander, murder. Have you repented? No! No! That's why salvation is a walk. Because until your heart is turned from it. See, the Spirit of God comes in to lead you through the wilderness. And the Spirit of God comes in to lead you for you to be worse for the Word of God. That's how you're born again, the Word and the Spirit. You're going to say, I believe that Jesus Christ, Son of God, died on the cross and raised Him from the dead. Are you going to be righteous just saying those words? No, you're not. These things are going to be in your life. You're not led by the Spirit of God. If you don't know coming in, you don't know the fear of God. If you don't know the fear of God, you have to know to come to the Lord with all your heart. Or you're not going to come to Him with all your heart. If you get a false assurance coming in and everything, you're naturally going to lean and walk in these things right here. Because you don't know the truth. You're taking partial truths out of the Word of God. Why are partial truths taken out of the Word of God? Because men with selfish ambition right here don't want to tell you the whole truth. Because when you come against people, pride, greed, you lose nickels, noses, and numbers. A man who loves pride wants to please people, not God. And then when you have doctrines that do not conform you to godliness, people go to seminary to know how to please men. Defend the doctrine. Make it work. Whatever you do. Dear God, make it work. Let's prop it up. Boy, we've got some new truth come in here. So what are we going to do? Well, it's in the Word and it's everything like that. But what we need to do, since we love the doctrine more than we do God, let's just explain it away and weaken it down and act like it's not there. But dear Lord, don't change the doctrine. If some new truth comes in that shows us that you're walking in some kind of darkness and everything, never change what's captured your heart. Always change the Word of God. That's where we've been walking. We've learned to change the Word of God. And then when any new truth comes again, oppose it for a while, oppose it for a while, like, you know, a few years ago there was a man named Jack Taylor in some circles that began teaching about the Spirit of God, and some people like left this world. And then finally they found and figured out a way to kind of fit it in here without having to say we're wrong. Don't never change the doctrine. That's how you're ever learning, ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. There it is. As a matter of fact, your pro is truth, and with your partial truth you stumble over the stumbling stone when you hear the rest of the Bible. See, you're on doom. Doom is pestilence, plague, the wild beasts, the powers of darkness, the curse. All these curses that come on you. You die to sin. All right, let's read it again now. 1 Peter 2. Jesus himself bore our sins in his body on the cross. He went to Calvary that we might die to sin. And then if you die to sin, what's going to be the result of it? I can't hear you. Well, how about that? If you die to sin, you live to righteousness. That's exactly what keeping the commandments of God's law is. That's what holiness is. That's what the nature of God is. And that can only happen through Jesus, the Word, and the Spirit. Your intellect can't even handle it. You have to stand in the Word, that faithful as he had called you, and he'll bring it to pass. He gives the Spirit to you as a pledge, a down payment, that it's going to come to pass, that you're going to love. You're going to have the nature of Jesus. You're going to love one another as Jesus loved you. He'll bring it to pass. If you'd rather speculate and go back to Egypt, that's up to you. You don't have faith. But what faith? It's walking in faith. And you're going to prove in that walk, what you're going to prove in this walk, in this test that your life is in right now, you're going to prove whether you love the Lord with all your heart. And if you don't love the Lord with all your heart, you're choosing to love other gods and other idols more, in which case, he'll wipe you off the face of the earth. And that is the dwelling place of those who do not know God. So, don't get under condemnation and say, well, God's going to zap me up. No, he wouldn't be letting you hear what you're hearing right now if he's going to zap you out. He's going to zap you in. That's what grace is. Because when you see this right here, you know it has to be grace. I want to tell you that God loves us with a divine nature. Now, let's just see how this divine nature quickly is perfected right here. We see, if we go over there to 1 Peter 4, verse 12. Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you which comes upon you. For what? This fire is going to come on you. Verse 12, for you are attested, though some strange thing were happening to you, here they're going to come. But to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, you keep on rejoicing, so that also at the revelation of glory you may rejoice with Him. If you're a vow for the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, you're what? That's the way I got a lot of blessings. Verse 19. Therefore, let those also who suffer according to the what? You're suffering according to the will of God, the love of the Lord with all your heart and your name, except you just keep entrusting your soul to the Faithful Creator, doing what is righteous. Amen? And then we see in 1 Peter 5, verse 8, we see our test that's going to come upon us. Be of sober spirit. Be on the alert. Your adversary of the devil prowls about like roaring lions, seeking someone to devour. Now, what does he have? Look at me here, folks. Satan has schemes right here. He's going to come and tempt you with these deeds of lawlessness right here in your mind right here. And when he gets you to break God's law, then he gets ground in you, and then he begins his destruction of fortresses and strongholds to destroy you. Amen? And that's the fiery test. And your fiery test, when you love the Lord with all your heart, you're going to stand in the Word of God. Amen? You're going to stand against the schemes of Satan. That's what Ephesians 6 says. We've got to go to ignore the devil. We're going to stand against him and resist him. Amen? And so then, he's looking for some brethren to devour. Let me tell you what it's not the pool room it's talking about here. It's talking about the brethren right here. Amen? I want to show you why. But verse 9, it says, but what does it say? Ignore him. You resist lawlessness. You resist the works of darkness. You resist infirming your what? Is it the pool room has faith? The brothers have faith. The brothers have the shield of faith, exactly what we saw in Ephesians 6. That's the example of the Lord Jesus Christ. He resisted and he proved his heart holy. And when he proved his heart holy, that's when the power of God fell on him. Until then, he hadn't cast out one demon or healed one sick person. And he said, the Spirit of God is on me. I've come here to set the captives free, just as quick as he got through. Amen? Glory be to God forevermore. Because when your motivation is holy, God turns loose heaven on you. But when your motivation is this, you pray and you pray amiss. You lay hands on the sick and they shall not recover. You anoint with oil and they die. Because it's an unaffected prayer of unrighteous people that don't avail of nothing. Now, but resisting, affirming your faith, knowing the same experience of suffering are being accomplished by your what? It's the brethren that are suffering. When you resist the devil, look at me, folks. You come along here and someone comes up and just, I like this friend of mine, Dennis Pewitt, he just shares this so well, how somebody bumps into your back fender right there and you get to prove God to them. Amen? They open the door into your side of your car right there and you get to get under a little test right there. I like the way Dennis shared it. I can't do it like that. But anyway, immediately when these things happen, the powers that are going to put up your anger, unforgiveness, resentment, revenge, and all these things, and then you're going to suffer. You suffer in the flesh. No, I'm not going, it's not going to come out of my mouth. I'm going to be like God. I'm going to be like Jesus because I'm going to trust myself to him. He, you know, and let me just tell you, but you know, he just needs a good chewing right there and so forth like that. And then, but you say, no, that's not where you're living at. You're not walking and talking like the people in the world. And so you resist the devil up here, these thoughts and everything, and you see some sin. You know, the Lord deals with us in funny ways. My wife and I had a scooter. And that thing just flew out from under me one time and just like killed me. I didn't have any hobbies, just reading the Bible and studying. That's just all I did. And I just liked that scooter. And then after that, we were kind of living by riding on it. And then my son had a motorcycle. And he needed some money, and I didn't want him to have a motorcycle, so I bought it. I didn't like him. Then I got to thinking, you know, and I was sitting there one day, and we decided to try it and ride it. And I heard those big wheels is a lot safer to do that, so I got on that motorcycle and I took off. And the Lord has been dealing with me about some things, and I kept putting off getting insurance. I thought, well, who needs insurance on a motorcycle? And I didn't do it. You see, there's a law, you know, it's just part of it. So I didn't ride it a lot. But here the other day, I got on that motorcycle, and I was riding through downtown Palestine, and we're on a one-way street. And I want you to know, I've never had more peace of God on me. I was so blessed. And I was just talking to God on that motorcycle and everything. But I didn't, you know, and the car's over here in this other lane. We both, it's all a one-way street, and here we're going along. He's right in front of me, and he decides to make a left turn from a right-hand lane. And he gets in front of me, and he pulls right in. I don't have any place to go. And immediately I thought, God, why are you letting this happen to me? And boy, I plowed into him. And I went over the back of his car right to his back window. And I never had as much peace in my life. There wasn't one ounce of fear on me. There wasn't one ounce of worry on me. And there's the biggest old knot come up on the side of my leg. I don't know what got a hold of me there. I'm telling you, what as big as your fist right away. And I just sit down in the car right there, and the policeman just walked up there, you know, where I was there in the car. And I saw that thing coming up there on the side of my leg, and I just took apart. Are you swelling? All the ground given through confusion and fear. All the ground given right here. I never had so much peace in my life. Not just so nice to those people that like to kill me. I just sweep to them, you know, and everything. You know, it's just like, boy, I'm glad to meet you. And that knot's up on my leg right there. And I said, now, swelling, all this paralysis, never knew coming out of there right now. So just get off of there. And boy, here that thing just started going right back again. I'll tell you what, I couldn't walk ten feet if I'd let them. Those things, boy, they like accidents, the powers of darkness do. All right, now, here we go. Fifty-eight years old and going through the back windows of cars. Okay, I'll tell you what, I'm going to skip like a cave. Boy, I'll just guarantee you, I'm going to do it. Boy, I'm going to tell you what, I'm going to obey God. So anyway, the same, so you're going to suffer. And look in verse 10. After you have suffered for how long? A little while. You've proven you love the Lord more than you do anything else. The God of all grace who called you to His eternal glory in Christ will Himself. What is He going to do? He's going to perfect you. Number two, He's going to confirm you. Number three, He's going to strengthen you. And number four, He's going to establish you in this covenant here. Glory be to God forevermore. And that's a walk right there. You drop down there to 2 Peter 1. And then we're going to see verse 3, seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness through the true knowledge of Him. Verse 4, For by these promises He has granted us, which we saw through all of 1 Peter 1, is dine to the flesh. For by these promises He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises. In order that by these promises you're going to become partakers of what? I can't hear you. One more time. You're going to become partaker of a divine nature and this is how you're going to escape the corruption that's in the world by what? This right here, you escape the corruption that's in the world by lust through the divine nature that's perfected in you through the Lord Jesus Christ. And I'm close to a fit. Turn back to 1 Corinthians 13 and let's look at it here. Glory be to God forevermore. 1 Corinthians 13. And I want you to know this is where we're being led to right now. Verse 4, Love is patient. Do you see them patients up here? All right, love is patient. Love is kind. It's not unkind. The God kind of love. The God kind of love is not what? See, here's the opposite there. The devil will lead you into jealousy, right? But when you have the nature of God, you're walking in the love of God which is not jealous. Amen? The God kind of love does not brag. There's your pride up there. The God kind of love is not arrogant. The God kind of love does not act unbecomingly, not unlike Christ. The God kind of love does not seek its own selfishness. The God kind of love is not provoked, upset, irritable, in anger. The God kind of love does not take into account a wrong suffered. He forgives everybody. The God kind of love, this divine nature, does not rejoice and unrighteous but rejoices with the truth. The divine nature bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endears all things, and this love never fails. Go to verse 1. If you speak with the tongues of men, of angels, and do not have this divine nature, this God kind of love, you've just become a noisy gong and a clanging cymbal. If you have the gift of prophecy, you know all mysteries and all knowledge, you have all faith to remove mountains, and you don't have this God kind of love and divine nature, you're going to be absolutely nothing. Put a zero out there. Verse 3. If you give all your possessions to feed the poor, and then you want to deliver your body up to be burned, and you still don't have this divine nature, you don't have this God kind of love. This love is not going to profit you one thing. Nothing. Zero. Because somewhere you walked in idolatry. And you didn't love God. Amen? Now I want you to see something with me now. I want you to turn with me to 1 John 3. 1 John 3. I want to show you a bit. 1 John 2. We're going to 2 first. 1 John 2. I want you to see one verse right here. Verse 29. If you know that Jesus is righteous, you know that everyone who does what? If you practice righteousness, you're not walking in any kind of lawlessness, are you? If you're practicing righteousness. Everyone who practices righteousness, these are the ones that's what? I can't hear you. I'll let you put it this way. If you want to put a big O.S. in front of that, you're looking at another salvation scripture. The ones who are born of God are the ones that died of sin and lived to righteousness and practiced it. Am I saying exactly what the Bible says? Is that what your Bible says? Huh? Amen? Let's see it a little clearer in the next chapter. Look in verse 11. Little children let no one want. Don't you let someone come to a doctrine that does not conform you to God in this. Let no one deceive you. It's the one who practiced righteousness who's what? He is the one who walks in it. Amen? Now, we look there in verse 2. Now, we're going to love one another as Christ loved us when we're walking in this righteousness. All right, let me ask you, does this righteousness keep the commandments of God's law? That's what it was in the old covenant. That's what it is today. Only today we're perfected in love through Jesus Christ. We don't have the law. Amen? The law is written on our heart, but we have the gospel. Amen? It's a righteousness separate from the law. Isn't that right? But we instinctively do the things of the law, right? All right. Now, we see in verse 2. Beloved, now we are children of God, and it's not appeared as yet what we shall be, but we know when the Lord Jesus Christ appears, what are we going to be? I can't hear you. We're going to be like a Lord Jesus Christ. He has a pure heart. We're going to have one too. Verse 3. Everyone who has his hope fixed on the Lord Jesus Christ, what's he going to do? He's going to purify himself. Now, did your Bible say if your hope is in Jesus Christ, you're going to purify yourself? Look at me, folks. The whole gospel and the Word right here is to be purified. That's how you're born again. Am I saying what the Bible's saying? That's how you're born again, if you're not purified. And see, look, if you have a doctrine that does not conform you to God, you sit on a false assurance, and you're on a broad road to destruction and hell. Now, verse 4. Everyone who practices sin, you continue to practice sin, and we already saw that you're not going to enter the kingdom of God. Also, what do they practice? Lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. Now, do we know the opposite of righteousness is lawlessness? We know that's where people are going to be in the last days. They're going to say, Lord, Lord. And He said, I never did know you, you who practice what? Lawlessness. We see in Matthew 24 in the last days, that's where people are going to be practicing lawlessness in the last days. Isn't that right? And their love is going to wax cold, because they've been led by false prophets, and they've fallen away from the faith. Isn't that right? Alright, now let's just continue in verse 8. The one who practices sin is what? Of the devil. Is that strong? Anyone here who practices sin is being led by the spirit of the devil, not the spirit of God. Now, let's go to the next verse, 9. No one who is born of God is going to what? You're not going to continue to practice sin. If you're led by the spirit of God, you're not going to practice sin. You're going to overcome it, because you're led by the spirit of God. Amen? Now, in verse 10. By this, the children of God and the children of the devil are what? I want to tell you, your Bible says, the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious. Is that plain? Alright, now, let's see how. Anyone who does not practice righteousness is not a God. And, of course, anyone who doesn't practice righteousness does not love his brother, the one who does not love his brother. The only way you can love your brother is how the God kind of loves, the love of another's Christ loves you. That's walking in the spirit of God and righteousness. Amen? So, how do we love? How do you die to sin? You have to lay down your life. Like Jesus said, greater love hath no one than he lay down his life. Verse 16. We know love, God's kind of love, his divine nature by this, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to what? We ought to lay down our lives for who? We're going to lay down our lives for the brethren. Now, we look in verse 14. We know that we have passed out of death into what? Life. That's a blessing. We've moved out of the curses into the blessings because we do what? When we purify our hearts and love the brethren. He who does not love or lay down his life, what does he continue to walk in? He's continuing to walk in death. Now, let me ask you this. I want you to turn with me to John 3. John 3. John 3. And we see this. In John 3. Now, I'm beginning to understand how you're saved through fire. Let's stop right here and explain this. The powers of darkness are the fire that come and tempt you with the deeds and works of the flesh. Amen? And then, when you agree in your mind, see, if you don't take these things to heart, these thoughts captive up here in your mind, they go down your heart. They go down your heart because your heart loves the suggestions. And when you love a suggestion, they're going to come out your mouth. When they come out your mouth, then the fire gets on you and they begin to destroy you. Right? But if when the pressure and everything comes on you, when the car hits your door and all these kind of things, if you respond in love and you don't let these things come out your mouth, then these things begin dying. They begin dying in you. Because, see, it's not what matters here on earth, what things you lose or anything here, because your citizenship, you're not building treasures here. You're building them where? So it doesn't matter what happens here. This concludes tape number four.
