Paul David Tripp

Paul David Tripp (1950–) is an American preacher, pastor, and author whose ministry focuses on connecting the transformative power of Jesus Christ to everyday life. Born on November 12, 1950, in Toledo, Ohio, to Bob and Fae Tripp, he grew up in a Christian home where his parents, recent converts, emphasized daily family worship and church involvement. Converted at age nine, Tripp attended Columbia Bible College (now Columbia International University), earning a degree in Bible and Christian Education, followed by a Master of Divinity from Reformed Episcopal Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry in Biblical Counseling from Westminster Theological Seminary. In 1971, he married Luella Jackson, and they have four grown children. Tripp’s preaching career began in 1971 with his first pastoral role, followed by planting a church and founding a Christian school in Scranton, Pennsylvania, from 1977 to 1987. He served as a faculty member at the Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation and lectured at Westminster Theological Seminary, later becoming Professor of Pastoral Life and Care at Redeemer Seminary in Dallas and Executive Director of the Center for Pastoral Life and Care in Fort Worth. In 2006, he founded Paul Tripp Ministries, and from 2007 to 2011, he preached weekly at Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia. Author of over 30 books, including New Morning Mercies and Dangerous Calling, Tripp continues to preach and speak internationally, addressing issues like parenting, marriage, and suffering, often reflecting on his own health struggles, including kidney failure in 2014. He resides in Philadelphia with Luella.
