Sermon Transcription
Well, it's good to be back with you again today on Eagle's Wings. Remember, God meets those who are desperate. I've been talking with you about revival and some other things related to that. I was reading in the Word of God just a few moments ago, on 2nd Chronicles 15 3, the Word says, Now for a long season Israel hath been without the true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law. It just sort of reminds me how it's been a long time since our land has seen an awakening. Probably the last major awakening was in 1859. We're due for God to visit us again. My friend, Jesus Christ loves you. He died on the cross for you. He paid the price for your sins, and He's waiting for you to do business with Him. Jesus said, Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If any man will hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and sup with him, and he with me. Is Jesus Christ real to you? Do you have a relationship with Him? Have you been born again? Remember, Jesus said, You must be born again. Nicodemus, the leader of the Jews, priests there, came to Him and said, How can a man get to heaven? And Jesus said, You must be born again. Have you been born by the Spirit of God? If you haven't, let me encourage you to call out to God, confess to Him that you're a sinner, repent of your sin, and ask Him to come into your life and change you. The psalmist said, We see not our signs. There is no more any prophet. Neither is there among us any that knoweth how long. Lamentations said, Her gates are sunk into the ground. He hath destroyed and broken her bars. Her king and her princes are among the Gentiles. The law is no more. Her prophets also find no vision from the Lord. Ezekiel 7 26 says, Mischief shall come upon mischief, and rumor shall be upon rumor. Then shall they seek a vision of the prophet, but the law shall perish from the priest, and counsel from the ancients. So it reminds us of how Isaiah cried out and said, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord. And as much as the word of God is being perverted and changed today, I think we're going into that famine. Hardly been a day like today where we've been so deceived. No wonder Jesus said that when he came back would even find faith on the earth. Now we're moving into the days where those that will live godly and live separate from sin and seek to love the Lord and to win souls for Christ, they will be on the line almost like those that are on the firing line for being up against a shooting squad. They will be the weirdos as we go into more days where the church is accepting more and more the standards and the ways of the world in its worship system. And actually Satan is beginning to get more glory in the church than Jesus Christ is. I shared with you a little bit on Jeremiah and closing up last week some things from Jeremiah. And one of the things that in Jeremiah 5 and 12 and 13, God had said that destruction, they said, destruction won't come on us. And God had said, you're thinking like that because the word is not in you. Jeremiah told him that the word of God is not in their hearts. And one of the things that Satan always tries to do is to take the word away from us. He'd take the seed out of you. And Jeremiah also said in in verse 26, Jeremiah 5 26, listen, for among my people are found wicked men. They lay wait as he that set his snares, and they set a trap. They catch men. You know the Apostle Paul back over in Acts chapter 20, when he left, he was weeping for he knew that grievous wolves would come in, not sparing the flock. He said they bring in deceptiveness, and they would try to take away that which was sown and built there by Jesus Christ. And so he was burdened in having to leave them, because he knew that they would be attacked like that. He even said, take heed therefore unto yourselves and to all the flock over the which the Holy Ghost had made you overseers, to feed the church of God which he had purchased with his own blood. For I know, by the way, when did God ever shed his blood if it wasn't in Jesus Christ on the cross there at Calvary? Now verse 28, remember that one, where God purchased us with his blood. But in 29 Paul said, for I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock, also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things to draw away disciples after them. Therefore watch and remember that by the space of three years I cease not to warn every one night and day with tears. And now brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of his grace which is able to build you up and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified. If Satan's going to destroy a mighty army like the church today, he's going to do it through the corruption of the word. And that's what we're seeing today with all the perversions that are coming out, with translations that are not accurate according to the scripture, based on an incorrupt text that's been fooled with and tampered with. Well, God wants to bless you. I was looking over a verse my wife shared with me earlier in Psalms 81 12, where God said, so I gave them up unto their own hearts lust, and they walked in their own counsels. You know, we're in a dangerous day where we're taking almost like the Catholic Church, that the fundamental church today is beginning to take their own counsel and their own traditions as the way of God. And we know what that will lead to, where we'll set ourselves up as our own standard and actually we'll have a form of what we would might could call a Christian Christianity new age. And it'll just fit right in with the one world church that's coming. You know, God had told Israel to open your mouth, and I will fill it. When he brought him out of the land, he brought him up to Canaan, and he was going to take him in. He says, I'm going to give you the land. You can have houses and all the vineyards were there, but they would not enter in because of unbelief. They'd been poisoned. And we're, today we're getting like that, where we have our Joshua and our Caleb that'll say, let's go, let's go, let's take the land. And then we've got the ten that are negative on doing things God's way. Well, I want to share with you more things on revival. Actually, I haven't got into the the sermon. I wanted to share with you on Jesus, and then I want to get into you into some things with you on the symptoms of revival. What is real revival? Many of us have never experienced revival, and I don't think any of us have probably been around for an awakening unless we've been in another land, because we haven't seen an awakening in our land for over a hundred years, since 1859. And we need to see God bring an awakening in our land. But we can have spots of revival, and some of us have experienced revival in our lives, and we've seen what it does. When I prayed for revival, I didn't even know what I was praying for. I had no idea. It mean that that God was going to come into my life and devastate me, and show me myself, and show me my sin, and show me how I was living in the flesh, and not living by the Holy Spirit. Dear Heavenly Father, take this time today, and would you teach us and bless us from the Word? Bless our hearts as we study, as we try to see what you mean by revival. In Jesus name, Amen. Let me give you a definition for revival. It's Jesus again. Re means again, and vive has to do with life. Jesus again. Jesus is life. You know, revivals of today, we have our revival services, and maybe you've got one scheduled, and I hope God does bring a revival. But most of the time, it's just evangelistic services. Where we're trying to get an evangelist to come in, and get a bunch of people saved, which we should have been witnessing to, and leading to the Lord ourself. If we wasn't so lazy, and hadn't gone into this idea of our pastor being a little Pope, and he's going to do everything, that's not true. You'll wear them out if you believe that. Many pastors are dying of broken hearts. They're working like, like slaves, trying to do all the different things in the church, and do all the visiting, and do all the soul-winning, and you'll be a fool if you'll let your pastor do that. And then they're supposed to live on the, on a beggar's salary, on top of that, while some churches are hoarding thousands and thousands of dollars, and their pastor drives an old rickety bomb around. A lot of that's just abomination. God will bless you for being generous with your pastor. Take him out to dinner today. Buy his, you know, his family dinner. If you can afford it, treat him good. You might be surprised to know that he might be thinking about leaving, and God gave you a gifted pastor, and then he's thinking about leaving, and you've just been neglecting him. Go buy him a new car if he needs one, if you can do it. God's taught me not to ask for things for myself from people, but he never told me that I couldn't ask for things for other people. By the way, I really appreciate this station. I don't get to get back into town very often, but as I'm traveling around the country, and going around, it is hard to find a Christian station that doesn't play rock music. And so I'd just like to encourage you to write the owners of this station, and tell them that you appreciate their ministry. That you appreciate them, and if God would lay it on your heart, why don't you give them a generous gift? And if you can't give them a generous one, just pray about giving them a small one. I know there's some advertising on it, but I also know that that doesn't cover everything. Things sometimes are tight. So be generous. If God's blessing you somewhere, be generous. The servants usually need to eat, too, like you. Oh, let me tell you, if you'll give, it'll be given unto you. And you know God's gonna press it down, and pack it down tight, and really cause it to overflow. You can't out give God. Well, our revivals of today. Let's talk about revival a little bit. You know, I think our revivals are today, so like a 76 Oldsmobile I had. I bought it. It was really a good car, but had a little something broke in it. And I took it into a mechanic, and he charged me three hundred fifty dollars, and gave it back to me. It didn't even have the right spark plugs in it when he gave it back to me, and it still wasn't fixed. And I think a lot of our revivals are like that. We pay the price. We go through the motion and everything, and it's still not fixed. And I was gonna gonna sell it. It was a good car, and God directed me. I even went up to Casper, Wyoming one time. Going on a, I forget what I was going up there for, but it was running so bad, it'd hardly go 40 miles an hour down the highway. A big old 455 rocket engine, and I was just discouraged with it. Took it into a used car lot, and was gonna sell it. And the guy, I don't know why he did it. He said, listen, there's a mechanic across the street over there. A really good mechanic. They could probably fix your car. I mean, he could have had my car and got it fixed himself. So I took it over there, and that little mechanic, he knew what was wrong, and he knew how to fix it. And I was so tickled, I even gave him $20 extra for a preacher to do that. That was really something on the bill. I think it was $80, and I think I just gave him a $100 bill. I was so tickled to have my car back, and I'd already blown all that money, and our revivals today are like that. We spend a lot of money, but when it's all done, we really haven't seen God change our church. I'm through playing games. I mean, God has dealt with me hard on playing games, and here in the last few weeks, He's really jumped on to me for not speaking up on what He showed me about how we're being deceived in our translations. And I know a lot of us don't know about the translations, but let me assure you that the King James is the Word of God. Now, you get to these others, I can't assure you. But I know in my studying, in my research, and I've done a lot in this area, and I was trained, and I was trained, listen, to think that these other translations were okay. And even my teachers, I can see, were deceived. They're sincere, but we were sincerely deceived. This is the Word of God, the King James. If you get over in some other things, you're going to have some real problems. And this is one way that Satan is bringing in so much division in the church. Why do we have such a division on the divorce and remarriage issue? Why, 50, 60 years ago, it wasn't an issue. We were divided because we had one book. Why are we divided on the music issue? It's because we've got another book now. Go to the authority that backs you up. Why are we divided on other issues? It's because the Word of God has been corrupted, and we're able to support wrong doctrinal beliefs by translations that are not accurate and according to the Word of God. We need revival in more ways than we really realize. We need it in a lot of different ways. You know, so many times God meets us in ways that we never expected. Many years ago, back in 1965, when I was off at the university, I was up there to get me a big psychology degree, and actually what I was doing, I was studying on that stuff, pouring my brain into that, and I about fried my brain on Freud. But it led me to despair, and that led me to Jesus. And when I found Jesus, I found out I didn't need Freud anymore. He was just digging a big hole for me. And I was finding out that psychology would tell you you had a problem, but it didn't have much power to get you out of that problem. Jesus can get you out of where you're at. There's no problem that you have that he can't take care of. And the biggest problem is our own heart, getting to the point where we enter into his rest. You ever read Hebrews 4? He that is entered into his rest has ceased from his own works. One of the reasons so many of us are tired as Christians is because we're busy with our own things. We're doing things that the Holy Spirit has never led us to do. By the way, are you filled with the Holy Spirit right now? Do you plan on going through the day being filled with the Holy Spirit? If you're not going to be filled with the Holy Spirit, if you're not filled with the Holy Spirit right now, what do you fill with? You fill with self. Flesh. And you're gonna have the fruit of the flesh. This is why we have strifes and divisions in our churches. This is why you have discouragement. This is why you'll go through, you can go through a whole list of things. This is why you have jealousy. This is why you have a low self-discipline and a low self-worth. This is why you have a lust for pleasure or you're materialistic. This is why you have self-pity, you're self-reliant, you're self-righteous, you're self-sufficient. You have selfish ambitions because you're living in the Spirit. I mean the flesh, the Spirit would take away that stuff and bring in there the love of God. It'll bring in purity, bring in the gentleness and the kindness and the self-control that you want. You know, life's very simple when you live it in the Spirit. Just be clean, filled, and obedient. It's all you need. Remember the definition of revival? It's Jesus again. Maybe you got saved and you got saved at the cross there, your sins were covered by the blood, and it was so wonderful. Jesus was so great and you were like a little child with a new toy. But then something happened. You had some kind of a circumstance that came along and it affected you. Something happened in your life. And you didn't walk with Jesus anymore. Let me ask you, can you remember where it was where you went off track? You know, the Bible says in Acts 17, 28, for in Him we live. You know, you don't even have life if you don't have Jesus. In Jesus we live, and then it says, and we move and have our being, our very existence as Jesus. Paul said, for me to live as Christ and to die it's just gain. He says, I die daily. He said, Paul dies, but Jesus lives. He said that I might know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings being made conformable unto His death. To know Him we have to die to self and let Him live in us, and that's the resurrection power. You know, when you're baptized and if you've had a Bible baptism, you've been immersed under the water. You've been submerged, and then you come back up out of the water, hopefully. If you don't, you're in trouble. But when you come back up, you're saying, I have died to my old life. I've been buried, and I have risen to walk a new life with Christ. Is your life matching up with your lip? Somebody used to say, if you can't walk the walk, then don't talk the talk. Got a lot of talkers, but very few walkers. God will not be mocked. If you have the tag of Christian on your lips, on your life, on you, then it better be in there also, or you're going to get into trouble. I was looking at something the other day in Oswald Chambers, and thought I might share a little bit with you on continuing with Jesus. Has there been a point where you quit and Jesus went on? Can you think of a point, maybe a circumstance, maybe you had a fight with somebody, maybe a death in the family, and you quit walking with God? You know, at that point you became a backslider. Is there some point in your life where you can look back and say, I quit and Jesus went on, and I know it. Has there been a circumstance that you can specifically go back to and look at? You know, Jesus said, Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations. If you're going to walk with Jesus, you're going to go through some trials, and I'm going to go through some trials. There's going to be some hard things to go through. But we better be careful that we don't let something move us away from Jesus. You know, Jesus wants us to abide in him. Stay conscious of his presence, conscious of his leading, conscious of his directing, and this is what life is for a Christian as we go through the day. Isn't it exciting to get up in the morning and and say, God, I reckon myself dead to sin and alive to you. Jesus, live your life through me. Lord, these lips are yours. These eyes are yours. This mouth is yours. These feet are yours. These hands are yours. What do you want to do in your body today? It's exciting. I never know where I'm going to be or how, where I'm going to end up, who I'm going to be with. It's just exciting. I'll let the Lord lead me. But let me tell you, it's not fun if I'm not living in the Spirit. I'll get discouraged. I'll get growly and grumpy just like anybody else. Can I afford not to live in the Spirit? Can you afford not to live in the Spirit? Do we continue to go on with Jesus? Chambers said, watch when God shifts your circumstances and see whether you are going with Jesus or residing with the world, the flesh, or and the devil. We wear his badge, but are we going with him? And you know the scripture says from that time many of his disciples went back and walked no more with him. You know, we have the idea that we ought to shield ourselves from some of the things that God brings us. No, we we need to face it straight on. God, what do you have in this trial? What do you have in this circumstance? What do you have in this tragedy to teach me, show me, or what do you want to do with me? What do you want me to say? Who do you want me to talk to? What is it you want to do? Because you see, God engineers circumstances. Whatever they may be like, we have to see that we face them while abiding continually with him in his temptations. Reading from Chambers again. Chambers said, the honor of Jesus Christ is at stake in your bodily life. Are you remaining loyal to the Son of God in the things which beset his life in you? Do you continue to go with Jesus? The lie, the way lies through Gethsemane, through the city gate, outside the camp. The way lies alone. And the way lies until there is no trace of a footstep left, only the voice. Follow me. Are you following Jesus? Revival is Jesus again. Revival is coming back to following him again. You remember the young rich ruler in the Bible? The scripture says, and he went away grieved, for he had great possessions. Whenever someone walks away from Jesus, you always walk away grieved, and you continue to walk grieved until the day you have revival and you come back to Jesus or to the day you die. But you'll walk in grief. There's nothing but grief and sorrow outside of the will of God. In the will of God, there is peace and joy and righteousness. And that's the kingdom of God. It's not me, but it's righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Lord help us. He had great possessions, but he didn't have Jesus, so he really didn't have anything at all. I know a man that I believe God called him to be a missionary. He is one beat-up man, and he will stay beat up all his life till the day he dies. I know another young lady, about my age now, we went to school together, but I believe God called her to be a missionary. I just, in my heart since that, we grew up together. And I knew she had a tender heart towards God, and I believe God called her to be a missionary, but she didn't follow that call, and she married another man that was not oriented to be a missionary. You know the scripture says in Luke 19 14, We will not have this man to reign over us. They said we will not have Jesus to reign over us. He was their Messiah, and they said we will not have this man to reign over us. Has your will gone to the cross? If it has not gone to the cross, then you will be saying just like the Jews to their Messiah, We will not have this man to reign over us. You'll say, oh, I'm not like that, but let me ask you a question. Has your will gone to the cross, or just your emotions? Has your will gone to the cross, or has it just been your intellect? Because if your will has gone to the cross, Jesus can do anything with you, put you anywhere He wants, any kind of circumstance. You will not grumble. You will not complain. You will not be discouraged. You will not be angry or bitter. You will not be fearful. You will be at perfect peace, because you're in the perfect will of God. Your will is surrendered. Are you there? Like old Jacob, he wrestled with God at Bethel, and when he got done, God touched the hollow of his thigh, and he limped. But he limped through life in the will of God, because he had met God there, and God had taken him and beat him, and the will was surrendered. You know, if the will isn't surrendered, the life will not be surrendered, and there will not be anything there. I was thinking of some scriptures. Back in, back in Deuteronomy 143. The scripture said, So I spake unto you, and you would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of the Lord, and went presumptuously up into the hill. You see, when God had told him to go into the land of Canaan, they wouldn't go. Well, later on, then, after they they found out that God was judging them, they're going to have to wander in the wilderness for 40 years, then they said, Well, we're going to go now, and so they went presumptuously, and they got into trouble. Isaiah 28 12 says, To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest, and this is the refreshing, yet they would not hear. My friend, when you get saved, you enter into Jesus Christ. You are positionally placed into Jesus Christ. You are secure. Your sins are covered by the blood. God sees you through Jesus, and you are safe. Now, practically, he expects us, and wants us, and has equipped us to walk by faith, and to live peacefully, through life, in our hearts, by just trusting him all the time. That is what it means to be entered into his rest. We're in Jesus, so nothing touches us unless God wants it to. So, I'm going to see what God wants to do through this tragedy, through this trial, through losing my job, through having my home burned down, through having a major sickness. I'm in Jesus, so I'll just stay at peace. But, you know, once we move out of Jesus, practically, by that, I mean, we're not walking by faith, you can't move out of him positionally, but if we begin to live by feelings, and live by just looking at the things around us, not seeing things through the eternal viewpoint, then we begin to crumble. Actually, we just look like an unsaved person, and we get just as miserable as them. Listen to what the scripture says, But chiefly them, in 2 Peter 2.10, But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise government, presumptuous are they, self-willed, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities. Now, I don't have time to get off into all this, I always like to, but we actually are coming up with a lot of Christianity that is nothing more than just humanism. We make decisions, board meetings, major meetings, without checking with the Holy Spirit and getting the unanimous vote of the Spirit of God through our hearts on major decisions, and it's bringing confusion and division into our churches. We will not have this man to rule over us, we will not have this man to reign in our church. What area of your life has not gone to the cross? What area? We won't obey our parents. What about it, teenagers? Can you go to the cross and obey your parents? What about the speed laws? You know, Jonah didn't love Ninevites, and whatever area you have not surrendered, God will bring you to a crisis in that area. All the prophets, God said, I'm gonna take Jonah to bring the message of revival to the Ninevites, because he doesn't like Ninevites, and I can use that in his life. And God will keep bringing you and me back to whatever area is not surrendered. By the way, whatever area is not surrendered, Satan has access into our life to bring havoc in our life in that area. So whatever area you have not surrendered, God will bring you to a crisis in that area continually. He'll keep bringing it back to you. So if you don't love somebody, he's gonna bring you to a crisis in that area. Who is it you don't love? You know, the Bible says in Romans 12 9, let love be without dissimilation, without hypocrisy. You can't say you love God, and you love so-and-so, and you love so-and-so, and so-and-so, and so-and-so, but not my brother-in-law, not my mother-in-law, not my boss. No, you don't have love. Well, I've got to go. Time's about gone. Let me encourage you to know Jesus, to experience revival. It's Jesus again. Until next time, remember, Jesus is all you need. The Lord Jesus Christ is all you need for life, for everything. But, is He all you want? Until next time, may God bless you, my friend.
