(Revelation) the Wrath of God
Willie Mullan

William “Willie” Mullan (1911 - 1980). Northern Irish Baptist evangelist and pastor born in Newtownards, County Down, the youngest of 17 children. Orphaned after his father’s death in the Battle of the Somme, he faced poverty, leaving home at 16 to live as a tramp, struggling with alcoholism and crime. Converted in 1937 after hearing Revelation 6:17 in a field, he transformed his life, sharing the gospel with fellow tramps. By 1940, he began preaching, becoming the Baptist Union’s evangelist and pastoring Great Victoria Street and Bloomfield Baptist churches in Belfast. In 1953, he joined Lurgan Baptist Church, leading a Tuesday Bible class averaging 750 attendees for 27 years, the largest in the UK. Mullan authored Tramp After God (1978), detailing his redemption, and preached globally in Canada, Syria, Greece, and the Faeroe Islands, with thousands converted. Married with no children mentioned, he recorded 1,500 sermons, preserved for posterity. His fiery, compassionate preaching influenced evangelicalism, though later controversies arose.

Sermon Summary
In this sermon, the preacher discusses the pouring out of the fourth vial of God's wrath upon the sun. This event will cause the sun to become extremely hot and will have devastating effects on the earth, including the destruction of drinking water sources and the death of sea creatures. The preacher also mentions the use of atomic energy by the Russians to move mountains, emphasizing the power and destruction that can come from such forces. The sermon concludes with a warning about Armageddon, a gathering of armies in Palestine, and the need for salvation to avoid the impending judgment.

7.40 please. 7.40, not now, but in the coming years. It may be in the better land we'll read the meaning of our tears, and there sometimes we'll understand. 7.40 please. Chapter 16. As you remember last Tuesday, that I pointed out to you that Chapter 16 was just a preface to Chapter 16. You remember that Chapter 16 began like this, verse 1, And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last flames, for in them is filled up the wrath of God. And verse 7 read like this, And one of the four beasts gave unto the seven angels seven golden vials full of the wrath of God. And I want you to try to get this picture in your mind, it's just a preface to Chapter 16. These seven angels with these seven last flames, these seven vials full of the wrath of God. And Chapter 16 begins like this, And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth. So I think that is clear enough. That there is coming a time in the not too far distant future, when the fullness of the fury of the wrath of God will be poured on this earth. I don't think there is any escaping from that. The voice says, pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth, upon this planet of ours. For the day it will be. Now when that day comes, we'll be in the very heart and in the very heat of the great tribulation. I mean this earth will be in the very heart and very heat of the great tribulation. I believe the church will be gone, I shall prove that in a moment. Let's go back to Matthew 24 just for a moment. Our Lord Jesus, speaking about the great tribulation, in Matthew 24 said this. Matthew Gospel Chapter 24 verse 21 For then shall be great tribulation. And there is a better translation, an older one that says, For then shall be THE great tribulation. And you can see quite clearly why it should be like that, because he said, Such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no nor ever shall be. And except those days, those days of the great tribulation should be shortened. There should no flesh be saved. The whole world would be blown up. So that this chapter of ours this evening, where the fullness of the wrath of God is being poured upon the earth, brings us to this moment that Christ was talking about. There was never anything before in this world like this. First you can see how the two things fit in. If it's the fullness of the fury of the wrath of God, then there would never be anything like it again. So it brings us to the very heart and heat of the great tribulation. And I think that young believers should try to differentiate between what is called in this book the great tribulation and tribulation. You know the Lord Jesus said to the believers, In this world ye shall have tribulation. Would be a good theory, I have overcome the world. And I think you should differentiate between tribulation, that must come to the saints at times in every part of the world, and the great tribulation that will come when the saints are not here. You have to differentiate. I think it would be easy if you just thought a little bit about it. You see, when you talk about tribulation for believers in the world, ye shall have tribulation. Well that thought of tribulation comes from wicked men to good men. You've got to get that. Because in the world ye shall have tribulation. And there are parts of the world tonight where wicked men will persecute good men. Well that's tribulation. But when we're talking about the great tribulation, it's the wrath of God coming against evil men. You get that? Because I don't see how you can miss that. It's the wrath of God coming against evil men, not coming against the church. We'll get to that in a moment. I don't understand these folks who talk to me, or try to talk to me, about the church going through the great tribulation. Let me say to you, my dear friend, kindly this evening, that three quarters of the church of Jesus Christ is already at home in heaven. What we have down here now is the last battalion of the church. Now why would the Lord put the last battalion through great wrath? In fact we're not appointed unto wrath even. In fact the Lord Jesus has delivered us from the wrath to come. But in case that doesn't persuade you, let me take you back to the chapter where we are again. We're in chapter sixteen. And I say this is the wrath of God coming against evil men. You see, I believe the Lord Jesus will come for the church one of these days and take all the believers home. And as we were seeing this morning, like he took a lot out of Sodom before the judgment day, you have to rescue a few of the saints out of this world that they're stuck in. And he'll have to take them home. But you know, there will be witnesses for God in the great tribulation. And I want to make it perfectly clear to you just now that the wrath of God will not come even against the witnesses of God. Far less against the church. Have a look and see who the wrath of God comes on here now before we go any further. Have a look at verse two. Sixteen, verse two. And the first went, that's the first angel, and poured out his vial upon the earth. It's upon the earth. And there fell a knife and grievous sword. There's another translation. There fell a foul and malignant ulcers. Fell foul and malignant ulcers upon the men which had the mark of the beast. Quick, quick, quick. I want it quick. Because you're always putting the church through the tribulation. I'll tell you, not even the witnesses in the great tribulation. Far less the church. This thing is only calling on the men. And in case you're still arguing about men, it means men and women. You wouldn't like to think that it only fell on the men that had the mark of the beast. It's one of those words that's used for men and women. Because it won't only be the males who will have the mark of the beast. I would think you would know that. And the first went and poured out his vial upon the earth. And there fell a knife and grievous sword upon the men which had the mark of the beast. And upon them which worshipped his image. That's only who the great tribulation is falling upon. It's not falling on the witnesses of God. Certainly the church of Christ is not there. You know, when we read down a bit this evening, you'll find that the angels are saying Thou art righteous, O Lord. That is righteous in bringing this judgment upon these men. They're sinners. For they, that is these men, for they have shed the blood of saints and prophets. You see who the judgment's falling upon. The men and women who had the mark of the beast. Then who have slain the saints and the prophets. I trust you can see who it's falling upon. I don't need to stress this too much, do I? See verse nine, look at nine. And men were scorched with great hate. And blots in the name of God. That's who it's falling on. These blot dreamers. These who have shed the blood of saints. These who have the mark of the beast. I don't know how you read the church into it when you can't even find the witnesses in it. I think you should read a bit more careful before you start your arguments. I don't think you know the book. The church won't be here and the witnesses who will be there won't even be in it. This is the wrath of God coming against the kingdom of the beast. It's the wrath of God against evil men. And ordinary tribulation is the wrath of men against good men. And you should be able to differentiate. I hope you will. Yes, this is where we are now in this chapter. We're in the very heart and in the very heat of the great tribulation. And you look at this, that this first angel is pouring out his vial upon the earth. And then the second one, verse three, and the second angel poured out his vial upon the trees. And it became out of the blood of the dead man and every living thing, I think the word should be, died in the sea. They're arguing about the cold war in Iceland just now. I'll tell you there's not much to fish for in the day to come. Every living thing in the sea will die. God is going to put the kingdom of the beast into a fictional. He's not having it all his own way. I think that some people think the Antichrist will do exactly as he likes. No, he won't. Because God will throw a spanner or two in the wolf's form. And there will be a very foul and malignant disease fall upon men until their bodies break out of their nostrils. Something will happen to the sea until every living thing dies. See the third angel pouring out in verse four. The third angel poured out his vial upon the rivers and fountains of waters. This fresh water that we get from the springs and fountains will be absolutely destroyed. What a mess that's going to be. You see this fourth angel in verse eight? And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun. And power was given unto him through the sun to scorch men with fire. You see there's something going to take place when the wrath of God is poured out that will make the sun so many times hotter than it is and men will be scorched. That will attack the fountains and streams of our pure drinking water. That will bring to death all the living things in the sea. And will bring a foul and malignant disease upon the men who have the mark of the beast. What a day it's going to be. It's all in this old book, you know. It's all sewed up very tightly here. And I don't want to linger with the wrath of God, but I think you can see that. Let's look at verse five a little bit closely. And I have the angel of the waters say. Sometime when we pick up the doctrine of angels you will find that there are certain angels detailed off to do certain things. And there is an angel of the waters. He looks after that. And I could go into quite a lot of the works of the angels this evening, but it would waste our time. And I heard the angel of the waters say Thou art righteous, O Lord, which art, and was, and shall be, because Thou hast judged us. You know, angels never argue about the righteous judgment of God. They get all pogies and churches arguing. They say, you know, God wouldn't judge you, God is low. Ah, blabbers. God will roost this earth, I tell you. And God will kill everything in the sea. And God will bring a foul and malignant disease upon every man that hath a mouth of the beast. And the angel will say, you are right, Lord, you are right. And he will be right. Angels don't argue like that. They know that God is right. Verse 7 says, And I heard another, and that means another angel out of the altar. You see the difference in those two. I heard the angel of the waters. He's a working angel. And I heard another angel out of the altar. He's a worshipping angel. But whether they're working or worshipping, they both say the same thing. Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments. Angels never argue about the judgments of God. There are judgments. God is a holy God. God cannot, because He is a holy God, allow this world to be ruined. My dear friends, the blood that's being shed on the streets and on the roads of Ulster at this time will have to be accounted for by God Almighty. If these murderous rebel thieves, that they're getting up for this, they are certainly not. God will bring them to dust. I don't know when, I don't know where, I don't know how, but a holy God will not wink at that. They can't do this. You may do it for a dime, but God will catch up with them. I don't think we need to linger with the wickedness of angels. Here's something I want to point out as we pass by, the wickedness of man. See verse 9. And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over each place, and they repented not. I remember arguing with an old Roman Catholic priest once about purgatory. I said, what's it all about? He said, you know, when God starts to torment men, he'll bring them to a place where they will repent and be brought right with God. I said, you must be fooling yourself. And I opened the book and read this to him, you see. That men were scorched with great heat. Did it make them repent, sir? After all, they blasphemed the name of God, the more they were scorched, and repented not, sir. There's nothing in the book to say that that sort of thing was that popish nonsense. That's what that is. See verse 11. They blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sorrows. Their pains and their sorrows didn't bring them to repentance. Don't let Billy die any longer with this popish nonsense of purgatory. No such thing in this book. Ah, no, that doesn't work with men. And the more they're scorched, and the more pained, and the more that God comes upon them with sores, the more they'll blaspheme his name. And the more they will harden in their sins. So I don't think we need to go so long with either the wrath of God, or the witness of angels, or the wickedness of man. It's all there, I've got to point it out to you. Look at verse 10. And the fifth angel poured out his bile upon the feet of the beast, and his kingdom was full of darkness. Surely you can see where the wrath of God is sitting. It's the men that have the mark of the beast. It's the men that have shed the blood of the saints. It's the men that blaspheme God. It's the kingdom of the beast. I wonder that my friends who talk about the church going through the tribulation can't read this. Because God makes it absolutely clear where he's throwing his wrath. How dare you say that he would throw it on the saints. My Saviour bore the wrath of God for me, and God came and faced him on. First at my bleeding shirtless hand, and then again at mine. Jesus bore the wrath for me, and I'm not appointed on to wrath. I wonder that these men can't see this. Now we've got down the chapter quickly, the wrath of the wickedness of man, the weapon of darkness. We're down to verse 12 now. And we've got down to the sixth angel. The sixth angel poured out his bile upon the great river Euphrates. And I defy anybody in this meeting to spiritualize this. I want to ask you a simple question. Is this a geographical location? You know where the river Euphrates is this evening. I was away up there one day. And you know this river is the old dividing line between the Far East and the Middle East. It's always been a dividing line. And on the other side, the Far East side, lie the kings of the East. China, Japan, India. And if they should amalgamate, and I believe they will, put China, Japan, and India together and you've got a mighty force. The problem for them would be to bring that army in with the Euphrates being what it is. Ah well, God is going to remove it for them. God is going to remove it. I think that you can see the geographical point here of position. And the sixth angel poured out his bile upon the great river Euphrates. And the water thereof was dried up. Must be a mighty scorching fire that comes upon them. And God doing it for this. That the way of the kings of the East might be prepared. You know one day China and Japan and India are going to march together against Israel. And God's going to make a way for them too. God's going to allow them to come. And God's going to dry up the Euphrates that they will come. The boys who try to take this book and take it back into history, they've got something now on their plates. Where in history did the Euphrates dry up? I would think that would dry you up. Oh no, that hasn't happened yet. When the world gets into the heart of the great tribulation it will happen. The Lord could come tonight and take his church away and this thing could begin. And I'll tell you what a day it will be on this earth. Now let's be careful with the next lot. Verse 13. And I saw, that is John saw, three on clean spirits. Not the wood like, like frogs. That's just a sort of illustration he's taken. It's symbolism of course. He saw these on clean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon. And we know who the dragon is. The devil. And out of the mouth of the beast. That's the antichrist. And out of the mouth of the false prophet. There's the satanic trinity again. Because they're going to be there too. Oh yes, and you can see these on clean spirits. I think this animal metaphor that he has chosen is a mighty one like frogs. You always remember the frogs. Sort of on clean thing. Something almost satanic looking about it. Anyhow John uses this animal metaphor. But it's spirits that he's talking about. He says these. And he's talking about these three on clean spirits that came out of the mouth of this trinity. He says for they are the spirits of the devil. I remember preaching somewhere. I'm not sure. One evening on the spirit. And I had this published outside you know on the big board. Old fellow waiting on me you know coming in. He didn't know the book of course. He said young man you can't preach on the spirits of devils. There is no such thing. Devils are spirits. They said I'm afraid you haven't been reading either of his books. So I took them over to here. And said these are the spirits of devils. He'd never seen this before. He thought it was just a title I'd picked out of the blue. I said you know friend when you open your mouth the way you do you let me see how little you know. Oh there is such a thing as the spirits of devils. Make no mistakes about that. Now the next two words are very interesting and you can preach for a week on them. Working miracles. Does the devil work miracles? Yes. But you have to be very careful you know. There are boys who always come around saying they work miracles. The devil works miracles. A fellow stopped me on the street there one day. He said to me Mr. Monk if a man were casting out demons every night would he be at the peak of his power? I said he might be on his way to hell. And you know that shocked him. I'm so rude at times. I get into trouble for this. Yes I'm telling you. I said whisper and I take it easy. I said you know the Lord Jesus said when he shut the door there would be many outside. Standing outside. Or downed outside. And he said to them they are staying on the other side of the door. Lord open the door unto us. In thy name we have. He shut the door. I never used it. Be careful that the old devil doesn't take the land of you for a night or two. Because the spirits of devils work miracles. Dr. Barnhouse was a great therapist. Dr. Barnhouse said to me once. The moment that the devil touched George's body what happened Willie? I said from the crown of his head to the soles of his feet he was covered with this dreadful loathsome disease. He said was the devil able to do that when the Lord allowed him? He said do you think he could have given him another touch and healed him? Pretty good thinking you know. And I think he could. Very careful now. This is what's going to happen at that particular time. These spirits of devils working miracles. But here's what their whole objective is. Which go forth unto the kings of the earth. We're back onto hard ground now aren't we? We're not floating in the air now. The euphrates is a tangible thing. So are the kings of the earth. So these spirits are going to go to the kings of the earth. And of the whole world. My what a mission is going to be undertaken by the devil. And they're going to gather them. Going to gather the kings and all the dictators and all the leaders. Going to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. So I think we'll not linger too long with the work of demons. You'll get in this chapter pretty quickly this evening, but we have a good bit to go. You can see the wrath of God on everything. Witness of angels. And the wickedness of man. And the weapons of darkness. And the way of the kings. And the work of demons. And we're coming now to the warfare at Armageddon. I want you to get the hold of this very carefully. Just when this sixth angel has poured out his vial. And these wicked spirits, these spirits of devils. Go on to the kings of the whole world and gather them together to that Almighty. There's a palimpsestical verse put in there. It's verse 15. You can see it's palimpsestical. And then we'll go on in the next verse, or verse 17, with the seventh angel. But verse 15 says, Now I know that some of my friends argue that that's the first coming of Christ. But I don't think it has anything to do with it. And I don't think that they read this book properly. Let's go back to 1 Thessalonians chapter 4 for a moment. I did this not so very long ago with a gentleman who came to argue with me. And it persuaded him that he was talking nonsense. Now watch this very carefully because you need to get this for yourself. We're at 1 Thessalonians chapter 4. And we're commencing to read at verse 13. Now Paul is the writer and he's writing to these young believers. And they were young believers at Thessalonica. And he's saying to them, But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren. This was something they didn't know. And he didn't want them to remain in ignorance. This was something they didn't know. And it was something they didn't know concerning them which are asleep. Some of their friends had fell asleep in Christ. They had died. He said, I don't want you to be ignorant about them, that ye shall not, even as others which have no hope. Then he goes on to say, For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and if you're a believer at all you must believe that, even so them also which sleep in Jesus. Will God bring with them just the way that God brought him out of the tomb when he died and rose again? So God will bring these friends that you have lost. And he's trying to educate them about this. He says, For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of Jesus, which are asleep. Then he comes out into the open. He says, The Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shirt, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God and the dead in Christ shall rise. Don't want you to be ignorant about that. That's a pity the chapter comes in where it does, because the second chapter begins with buts. Because it's a conjunction, you know, and it joins the two together. Here's what he's saying to them now, verse 1 of chapter 5. But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. You're not ignorant about that. I don't even need to write to you. You know that bit. You didn't know about the rapture. I know you didn't know and you might worry a wee bit. I don't want you to be ignorant. The Lord will come and raise your friends. But of the times and the seasons, ye have no need for yourselves. Know perfectly that the day of the Lord soon cometh. Are thou peace? Tell me whether it belongs to the rapture or the day of the Lord now. Just tell me. I don't think you've any problem with it at all. The coming of the thief in the night belongs to the day of the Lord. This will be the day of the Lord's wrath. I don't know how they all get it like this. Look, he goes down this chapter and he says in verse 4, But ye, brethren, ye, brethren, and he's talking to the believers, are not in darkness, that they should overtake you as a thief. Ah, the Lord's not coming for the church as a thief. Not a bit of him. He's coming for the church as the bridegroom will come for the bride. Oh, not a bit. I don't know how they read the things. I believe, you see, when we go back to Revelation 16, I believe this. You see, when the way is made for these kings of the east to come, and the great battle is being set, the battle is set in a way almost, the Lord has this word for the witnesses that are there at that day. You know, there'll be a lot of men who will be witnesses. The church will be gone, but the Lord will not leave himself without a witness. Two witnesses will be there, and there'll be 144,000 and a lot more. And he wants to tell them that he's going to come for this world, in this day of the Lord, as a thief in the night. He'll come suddenly, you know. He says, now you boys that are in the tribulation and you're witnesses for me, you'll need to be watching for me. So this is a very wonderful figure of speech that's taken here. He says, Behold, I come as a thief in the night, blessed is he that watcheth and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked. Old Dr. Ederson said once, and he was the great Jewish expositor, he said, you know, when they put guards on the temple, the high priest used to go out at times in the middle of the night to see if the guards were awake. He would just come round the end of the wall of the temple, just like a thief in the night. And if the guard was sleepy, he was arrested, he was stripped naked, and all his clothes were burned. And he was seen naked for days to come. And this is the figure that's here. The Lord's saying to these witnesses, in the tribulation, Behold, I come as a thief, blessed is he that watcheth and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked. And I see he said, it was a great enlightenment for me when old Ederson said that. It's just a parenthetical bit that's put in, but I thought I should do it as we come along. And of course, this great crowd is gathered, it says verse 16, and be gathered then together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue, Armageddon. It's the great plain of Megiddo, the way up there in the heart of Palestine. Mr. Torrance was over there, and I lay just on the slopes of Mount Carmel one day together. And as we lay on our tummies in this burning sunshine, you could look right down this long plain of Armageddon. And it goes further than the eye can see in that perfect light that's there. I suppose you can see for almost 40 miles, and there might be 20 or 30 after that. And for all that you can see, it's as level as a billiard table. What a mighty plain this is. And it was said that Napoleon stood where we were, and looked down this plain, and said to one of his generals, what a place for all the armies of the world to move in. That was the mighty saying, because all the armies of the world will certainly move in it. Because that's where these demons are gathering them to. Now Armageddon is in Palestine, so you can see they're going to gather there. But let's get that very clear, all the armies of the world. Because these demons are going to the kings and of the whole world. Who will be at Armageddon was my first question. And that's simply answered by verse 14. The kings of the earth and of the whole world. Don't quibble about that. But let's try to get that into our minds tonight, because that means that the kings of the east will come over to this plain. And it means that the king of the north, Russia, and all her satellites will come down. And it means that the king of the south, which is Egypt, and all her satellites, the Arabs and Lebanese and so on, they'll all come. And then of course if the beast is there, then the ten tools of the government, they'll come from the east, they'll come from the west, they'll come from the north, they'll come from the south. They are entering the plain of Armageddon. It was Diane who said the other night on the TV, I listened to it. He said, Israel may have to fight the whole world yet. He can be sure of that. For the whole world will be gathered there and the devil will see that they will be gathered there. Yes, that's true, we'll be gathered. And they'll be gathered there because God wants them to be gathered there. Because God has this day appointed. It's called the great day of God Almighty. I know he'll allow the devil, I know he'll allow a lot of things, but he's going to direct this battle, let me tell you. Because he's going to make sure they're all there. This day is put down in his calendar. And I'll tell you this, when the seventh angel sounds, you see verse 17, the seventh angel pulled out his violin from the air and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven from the earth. He says, it is done. It is all over, is one of the translations. The time has come. The hour of God's time has come. That has never happened yet, but it will happen. God has the day appointed. Yes, now, there must be something more in this to draw all these nations, not just something else here. And I studied this chapter for hours and hours and hours and hours. Now, I knew this bit. I knew that when Russia would come, let's go back to the day when Russia would come. It's Ezekiel 39. 39, I think it may be 38. Ezekiel 38 it is. The prophecy of Ezekiel 38, take your time and find it now. And he's talking about his people Israel way down in the heart of the chapter. Verse 8, After many days thou shalt be visited in the latter years. Let's get the time in. Thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the thorns and is gathered out of many people against the mountains of Israel which have been always wished but it is brought forth out of the nations and they shall dwell safely all of them. He's talking to Russia. Thou shalt ascend and come like a thorn. Thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land. Thou and all thy bands and many people with thee. God saith the Lord God it shall also come to pass that at the same time shall things come into thy mind and thou shalt take an evil part and thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages. I will go up to them that are at rest, that dwell safely. All of them dwelling without walls, having neither bars nor gates to take a spoil. Let's talk with that word. Because this is going to be in Russia's mind. The reason that the Russians are going to come to Armageddon is that there's something there for them to gain. There's a spoil to take. And I'm perfectly sure it's the same thing that's going to draw the kings of the east and the king of the south and the... I was talking to Dr. Talmadge one day and he was telling me that Israel had a blueprint of this great atomic bomb that was made in America some years ago and that Israel had got this blueprint and that they were doing things. Of course we learned the other day that Israel has now produced a rifle and I mean a rifle. Can fire 300... 600 bullets per minute. Rifle. Amazing thing, I have a cutting in my Bible at the back of it there. I don't think it's that sort of spoil that they're coming for. They're not too worried about that. But Israel is going to produce a weapon and maybe she has produced it. Now I have a feeling she has. Because she's thrown all year about every day. And she's not afraid of the Egyptians. And she's not afraid of the Russians. Now I think she has and so I said Dr. Talmadge I think there's more to it than that. And then I said it's true. We're back at Revelation Chapter 16 Verse 17 And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven from the throne saying it is done. And there were voices and thunders and lightning and there was a great earthquake. Such as was not since men were upon the earth so mighty an earthquake and so great. And the great city And when that's in this book just like that it's Jerusalem they're talking about. The great city was divided into three parts. When I was in the city of Jerusalem last it was divided into two parts. The Israelis owned the big parts and the Arabs owned the great parts. And the Arabs were so bigoted that if your passport had an Israeli mark on it you couldn't come from Israel into Jordan. And any time I was coming from Israel into Jordan I would say to the seller at the table please don't stamp that because they'll not let me in up there. And he was sensible enough to know and would let me pass by without it being stamped. If I get an Israelite stamp on it I'd never get into Jordan. But I could let the Jordanians stamp it I could go back to Israel. The Israelites just laughed. They didn't mind you moving about. But the city is all one tonight. It's not in two parts now. They hunted the Arabs up. They have the whole city. And let me say here and now the Arabs will never see it again. And the nations of the world can say whatever they like. Israel is going to keep it. But when this great day comes when this great battle takes place the battle of Armageddon then this great city will be divided into three just like the clap of your hands. For these forces are going to come from all angles. Now watch this book. This is the great book we're reading out of. We're at verse 19. And the great city was divided into three parts. Now at that psychological moment it said this and the cities of the nations fell. You get that? Because that's there a long time. I certainly didn't print it. And when you say the cities of the nations you mean London. You mean Paris. You mean Moscow. You mean Berlin. You mean Tokyo. You mean all the cities of all the nations. I said to Dr. Talmadge, what did he say? He said, well he asked about everything. I said these fellows have a secret weapon and as soon as these boys are armed they'll blast every city in the world. And they will you know. I'll tell you that's what they're all coming for. They're coming to get us. This is the story. And the devil is going to use us to bring the nations. This is what is going to set the stage for Armageddon. You know we're nearly there. I tell you Dianne just cannot prove without the way he's doing it. These are small people you know. It's about as big as us. They're living off the things. And they're throwing their weight out to the world. They have got a weapon. In fact I think they've got the greatest weapon in the world. And I tell you they're going to use it. They'll not just go so pussyfoot about it as we're doing. I'll tell you when some of these gangsters make a raid on them and they go over the border and find the boycotts. They know how to do things you know. I'll tell you that all the cities in the world will be smashed at that moment. It'll be a magazine. Let's take a moment to choose this. Let's go back to Zechariah. It's the last book of the Old Testament but one. Malachi's your last one. Zechariah's the one before the last. And here's what this old prophet wrote 600, 400 years at least before Christ came. Maybe 500. Here's what he wrote in verse 14, in chapter 14. Zechariah chapter 14. Behold the day of the Lord cometh. That's the day that Paul was talking about that the saints should know all about. I should think they should when it's written in the Old Testament. It's another rupture you know. It's the day of the Lord and you ought to know all about it because it's here long enough. The day of the Lord cometh and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. Oh, it's there all right. Verse 2. And I will gather, because God's over all here, I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle. You get the name of the city now all right. And the cities shall be taken, and the houses rippled, and the women ravished. Half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the message you of the people shall not be cut off. Then at that psychological moment shall the Lord go forth and fight against those nations. As when he fought in the day of battle, the feet shall stand in that day coming back again. That's the day of the Lord. That's not coming to the earth. That's coming to the earth. You know, we're getting terribly close to this thing. Friends, the more I read and the more I go into these prophecies, and our great friend that's coming next week, Dr. Pentecost, has done so much in this, you know. This is really a treasure that he's done. And I think maybe he'll say something to us about it next Tuesday, but let's finish this chapter. There's no hurry. Oh, I'm not nearly finished yet. Don't get excited like that. We might stay an hour or two tonight. Let's get this, you know. We have done who will be us on the garden. And we have done why will they be us on the garden. Now, we want to get this bit fixed properly. What will really take place? Well, we've seen that all the nations of the world will be God. We see that bit. And we see the great city shall be divided into three. That will take place. And we see the cities of the nations. Cities of the nations will be smashed. What a mighty weapon this must be to go out in all directions to level down the cities of the nations. But let's get this last bit into focus. Verse 19. And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. And great Babylon came into remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath. Now, when we come to chapter 17, this is where we're going to look at great Babylon. And I make no bones at all about that this is the Roman church. And I shall take great time when we're doing it. There will be nothing heard. And I shall prove beyond any argument that this is the Roman church. Every time that Armageddon is mentioned, Israel should tremble. And the nations of the world should tremble. And Rome should tremble. For Greece, Greece. Israel. Nations of the world. Babylon. There's a little bit more here. Let's get it all when we're done. Verse 20. And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. You know, the old expositors a hundred years ago were afraid to say that the islands could be moved. They have no trouble moving islands now. Can they tell you they have no trouble moving mountains? You know, some years ago, when one of the American spy planes a way up in the stratosphere took pictures of Siberia. They took mountains up there. And then once again, when they came over about two months later, they took pictures again, and the mountains were not there. So when the pictures were developed, the Pentagon couldn't accept this. There's something wrong. You were off course, or you did something wrong. So the pilot had to go back and go down lower. And this time, you remember, they brought him down. He was down looking. But the Russians had used atomic energy to move mountains, just to see if it could be done. See this little island of ours, from dummy doll to cork, it's three hundred miles, and it's seventy wide. In one split second, they could put it off a mountain. So they would never be seen again. Quite simply. And there's the day coming. We can almost speak about it. There's the day coming when God is going to let fire loose. And then you'll be scorched, and things will die in the sea. And I'll tell you this, the nations of the world will fall, and this island will disappear, and neither north nor south will come. Yes, we should tremble when we hear Armageddon, because you're not getting out of it if you're unsaved. And watch this, here's the bargain. It says in verse twenty-one, And there fell upon men a great hill out of heaven, every stone, every hill stone, about the weight of a talent. I'll tell you that, just some weight. You know there are some arguments about the weight of a Bible talent. Well, some, most of the scholars believe that a Bible talent is the same weight as a bag of coals, ten stone. And if you get hill stones coming down, ten stone weight. Don't be in the greenhouse, down the garden. In fact, I don't know that any roof is going to keep up. You see, what I believe is happening is this, that our scientists, they think they're clever. They're doing something with the atmosphere. And there's something going to happen. And the sun will come out to blister. And then something will happen that the whole thing will collapse. And then ice will come. And these hill stones will just be blocks of ice falling out of the heavens. Put the nonsense out of the men with the mark of the beast in this book, you know. And I'll tell you that's only the beginning of the thing, because when we get into this next chapter, we're going to see it in all its purity. God bless you. Thank you very much. One thousand. One, oh, oh, oh. One thousand. We're going to try this then. Shall we gather up the river where bright angels teach us from with its crystal tide forever flowing by the throne of God. One thousand, please. Soon we'll reach the silver river. Soon our pilgrimage will cease. Soon our happy hearts will pervade with the melody of peace. We haven't far to go, you know. Take a big, deep breath now. We need to sing this, every one of us. Whether you can sing or whether you can't, have a real joy. Right, big breath. Thank you. In my fear I stay. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
