Isaiah 52:7

Isa. 52:7. “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings!” Jerusalem was compassed round with mountains, and therefore he that brought tidings to Zion must come over the mountains, and as he was coming over might therefore be seen in the city. The like expression is in Nahum 1:15.

Isa. 52:15. “The kings shall shut,” etc. - i.e. they shall be silent, attending to His wonderful doctrine and instructions as it follows, “for that which had not been told them,” etc. They shall shut their mouths as learners, in acknowledgment of His superior wisdom, and as a testimony of their desirousness to hear and learn, as Job says, chap. Job 29:21; Job 29:22. They shall be silent also in token of their admiration [= wonder.]
