Colossians 2:11

Col. 2:11. “In putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ.” If this means the outward circumcision, with which Christ was circumcised, our sins are put off by Christ’s circumcision, after the same manner as by our own baptism; that is, Christ’s circumcision signified the putting off our sins, as much as our own baptism, for our body of sin was imputed to him, he bore it, and put it off in outward sign by his circumcision. Christ represented us; he came into the world without any original sin, and he was circumcised to signify the putting off our corruption of nature.

Col. 2:16

Colossians 2:16

Col. 2:16. “Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holy day, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days.” This does not preclude the Sabbath. The word is “a feast.”

Col. 2:20

Colossians 2:20

Col. 2:20. “Wherefore, if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances?” This world is not the contrary of the Church. Christ, after He rose from the dead, was no longer a proper inhabitant of this world, and therefore was no longer subject to the ceremonial Law. So is the Church which is mystical and dead, and risen with Christ. Christ is the representative of the Church, and therefore the Church has communion with Him in this alteration of His state.
