Esther 5:2

Est. 5:2. “Sceptre.” Favor was offered by the king by holding out to her the golden scepter; but it was expected that she, in order to a title and interest in the offered favor, should draw near and touch the top of the scepter as an expression of her joyful acceptance of the favor, submission to the royal dominion and power, of which the scepter was the ensign, and her dependence on the king’s free, sovereign but offered favor. The acts and benefits of saving faith in Christ may be compared to this act of Esther towards Ahasuerus, her king, her husband, and in this affair, and in what followed, her savior.
