1 Timothy 3:11, “Wives, be sober.” The same Greek word is in 1 Timothy 3:2 rendered vigilant, and which Donnegan renders abstemious, that abstains, especially from wine. The New Testament Greek lexicons define it, “temperate, abstinent in respect to wine.”
