10- God And Satan

1 min read · Chapter 11 of 20

GOD AND SATAN In the Bible, there a few instances of God asking Satan questions. Most of these are centered on protecting man and his Godly identity. As in other categories, we are overwhelmed by God’s love and concern for us. We realize the place we have in the heart of GOD. The book of Job has the greatest number of questions between God and Satan. Why is it so? The book of Job is the record of man’s temptation; Satan is tempting him and God is protecting him.

Satan has to seek God’s permission before he can torment Job. Before man is tempted or tested, God sets limits for Satan based on a knowledge of what man can bear, overcome in Christ and grow in maturity. In each of the questions below, please specify who the question is speaking for (God / Satan/ self/ Others.) and ask why.

1.    And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? (Job 1:7)

2.And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? (Job 1:8) 3.Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? (Job 1:9)

4.Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? (Job 1:10) 5.And the LORD said unto Satan, From whence comest thou? (Job 2:2)

6.    And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? (Job 2:3)

7.    And the LORD said unto Satan, The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan; even the LORD that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire? (Zechariah 3:2)
