Context — Purification of the Unclean
17For the purification of the unclean person, take some of the ashes of the burnt sin offering, put them in a jar, and pour fresh water over them.
18Then a man who is ceremonially clean is to take some hyssop, dip it in the water, and sprinkle the tent, all the furnishings, and the people who were there. He is also to sprinkle the one who touched a bone, a grave, or a person who has died or been slain. 19The man who is ceremonially clean is to sprinkle the unclean person on the third day and on the seventh day. After he purifies the unclean person on the seventh day, the one being cleansed must wash his clothes and bathe in water, and that evening he will be clean.Cross References

Numbers 19:17 Summary
In Numbers 19:17, we see a special process for making someone clean who has become unclean. This process involves taking ashes from a sin offering and mixing them with fresh water, which symbolizes spiritual cleansing and renewal, similar to the concept of baptism in Matthew 3:13-15. Just like the ashes and water were used to cleanse the unclean person, Jesus Christ's sacrifice cleanses us from our sins, as seen in Hebrews 10:22, and the Holy Spirit renews us, as described in Titus 3:5. By applying the principles of this verse to our lives, we can experience spiritual renewal and cleansing, and live a life that honors God, as encouraged in 1 Peter 1:15-16.
