20When Azariah the chief priest and all the priests turned to him and saw his leprous forehead, they rushed him out. Indeed, he himself hurried to get out, because the LORD had afflicted him. 21So King Uzziah was a leper until the day of his death. He lived in isolation, leprous and cut off from the house of the LORD, while his son Jotham had charge of the royal palace and governed the people of the land.Cross References

2 Chronicles 26:19 Summary
[In 2 Chronicles 26:19, we see what happens when someone tries to take control and do things their own way, rather than following God's instructions. Uzziah, the king, became angry and tried to offer incense, even though it was not his role, and as a result, he was punished with leprosy. This shows us that God is serious about obedience and humility, as seen in Proverbs 16:18. We can learn from Uzziah's mistake by submitting to God's authority and respecting the roles and boundaries He has set in place, as taught in 1 Peter 5:5-6.]
Frequently Asked Questions
Why did Uzziah become enraged when the priests told him he couldn't offer incense?
Uzziah became enraged because he was prideful and unwilling to submit to the authority of the priests, as seen in 2 Chronicles 26:19, and this pride led to his downfall, as warned in Proverbs 16:18.
What is the significance of leprosy breaking out on Uzziah's forehead?
The leprosy that broke out on Uzziah's forehead was a physical manifestation of God's judgment on his sin, similar to the plague that afflicted the Israelites in Numbers 12:10 when Miriam spoke against Moses.
Is this event in 2 Chronicles 26:19 a unique occurrence, or is there a similar event in the Bible?
A similar event occurred in Numbers 16:1-40, where Korah and his followers rebelled against Moses and Aaron, and God judged them for their disobedience, showing that God takes sin seriously and will not tolerate pride and rebellion.
What can we learn from Uzziah's mistake in 2 Chronicles 26:19?
We can learn the importance of humility and submission to authority, as seen in 1 Peter 5:5-6, and the dangers of pride and rebellion against God, as warned in Psalm 101:5.
