1 Chronicles 28:19 Summary
This verse means that God gave David a clear plan for building the temple, and David is saying that he wrote it down as God guided him. This shows that God is a God who guides and directs us, just like He did with David, and we can trust Him to give us wisdom and direction in our lives (Proverbs 3:5-6). Just as David trusted God to help him build the temple, we can trust God to help us with our own challenges and responsibilities. By seeking God's guidance and trusting in His sovereignty, we can, like David, glorify Him and fulfill His purposes for our lives (Psalm 37:5-7).
Frequently Asked Questions
How did David know the details of the plan for the temple?
The LORD made the details of the plan clear to David in writing by His hand upon him, as stated in 1 Chronicles 28:19, similar to how God guided Moses in Exodus 25:9 and 31:18.
What is the significance of the phrase 'by His hand upon me'?
This phrase suggests that God directly communicated with David, guiding his thoughts and actions, much like He did with prophets in the Old Testament, such as Isaiah 8:11 and Ezekiel 1:3.
Is this verse implying that David received a vision or a dream from God?
While the verse does not explicitly state that David received a vision or dream, it does imply a direct and intimate communication from God, similar to the experiences of other biblical figures, such as Genesis 28:12 and Numbers 12:6.
How can we apply David's experience to our own lives?
We can apply David's experience by seeking God's guidance and wisdom in our lives, just as David did, and trusting that He will provide us with the direction and clarity we need, as promised in Proverbs 3:5-6 and Jeremiah 29:13.
Reflection Questions

- How can we, like David, trust in God's sovereignty and provision, even when faced with daunting tasks or challenges?
- What does this verse reveal about the nature of God's communication with humanity, and how does it relate to our understanding of prayer and worship?
- In what ways can we, like David, seek to honor and glorify God through our actions and decisions, and what role does obedience play in this process?
