Psalms 21
BSA1 O LORD [the supreme God, Yehovah], the king [David, the anointed leader] rejoices [is glad, celebrates] in Your strength [power, might, ability]. How greatly [extremely, very much] he exults [rejoices, delights] in Your salvation [deliverance, rescue, victory]! word study 2 You have granted [given, bestowed upon] his heart’s desire [deepest longings, innermost wishes] and have not withheld [denied, refused] the request [petition, prayer] of his lips [words, utterances]. Selah [pause, reflect] word study 3 For You welcomed him with [abundant, liberall] rich blessings [of goodness]; You placed on his head a [fine, pure] crown of [precious, fair] pure gold. word study 4 He asked You for life [a long and blessed existence], and You granted it— length [duration, extent] of days [time, eternity], forever [for all eternity, perpetually] and ever [without end, endlessly]. word study 5 Great [abundant, exceeding] is his glory [honor, splendor] in Your salvation [deliverance, rescue]; You bestow [lay, grant] on him splendor [dignity, majesty] and majesty [honor, authority]. word study 6 For You grant him [make him a source of] blessings [prosperity, divine favor] forever [throughout all eternity]; You cheer [make glad, bring joy to] him with [in the presence of, because of] joy [exceeding gladness, delight] in Your [divine, majestic] presence [before Your face, in Your sight]. word study 7 For the king [trusts with confident faith] trusts in the LORD [Yahweh, the covenant God]; through the [loving devotion, merciful kindness] loving devotion of the Most High [the supreme God, Almighty], he will not be shaken [moved, or disturbed]. word study 8 Your hand [will overtake, find out] will apprehend [seize, capture] all Your enemies [those who oppose You]; Your right hand will seize [lay hold of, overtake] those who hate [are hostile towards] You. word study 9 You will place them [as a fiery oven] in a fiery furnace [of fire, at the time of thine anger] at the time of Your appearing [on the scene, in Your presence]. In His wrath [anger, fierce indignation] the LORD [Yehovah, the self-existent God] will engulf them [swallow them up, destroy them], and the fire [flames, burning] will consume them [devour them, burn them up]. word study 10 You will wipe [destroy, remove completely] their descendants [offspring, children] from the earth [the land, the world], and their offspring [seed, posterity] from the sons [children] of men [humankind, mankind]. word study 11 Though they intend [plan, plot, or devise] You harm [evil, malice, or wickedness], the schemes [devices, plans, or plots] they devise [imagine, conceive, or contrive] will not [are not able to, cannot] prevail [succeed, accomplish, or come to pass]. word study 12 For [because of this reason] You will put them to flight [make them turn their back, cause them to run away] when Your bow [with your arrows, the strings of your bow] is trained [made ready, prepared] upon them [against their face, at their direction]. word study 13 Be exalted [be lifted up, rise up], O LORD [Yehovah, the Eternal One], in Your strength [power, might]; we will sing [make songs, praise] and praise [sing] Your power [might, ability]. word study
