Psalms 132

1 O [Yehovah] LORD, remember [to recall, to mark] on behalf of David [the youngest son of Jesse, a king of Israel] all [everything, the entirety of] the hardships [afflictions, troubles, lowly states] he endured [suffered, was occupied with], word study 2 how he swore [made a solemn promise, vowed] an oath to the LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God], and vowed [pledged, made a commitment] to the Mighty One [strong and powerful] of Jacob [the son of Isaac and Rebekah]: word study 3 “I will not enter [come into the tabernacle of] my house [place, dwelling] or get into [go up upon, ascend to] my bed [couch, place of rest], word study 4 I will not give [refuse to grant] sleep [rest, slumber] to my eyes [the windows of my soul] or [nor] slumber [drowsiness, lethargy] to my eyelids [the guardians of my sight], word study 5 until I find [discover, attain] a place [location, dwelling] for the LORD [Yehovah, the sovereign God], a dwelling [tabernacle, habitation] for the Mighty One [the strong and powerful] of Jacob [the father of the Israelites]. ” word study 6 We heard [received information, had news] that the ark was in Ephrathah [Bethlehem, place of fruitfulness]; we found [discovered, attained] it in the fields [lands, areas] of Jaar [the forest, a wooded area]. word study 7 Let us go [come, enter] to His dwelling place [tabernacle, holy tent]; let us worship [bow down, give reverence] at His footstool [throne, resting place, before His feet]. word study 8 Arise [come to your eternal home], O LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God], to Your resting place [a state of quietness, peaceful home], You [the one being addressed directly] and the ark [a box or chest, like the Ark of the Covenant] of Your strength [might, power, or boldness]. word study 9 May Your priests [faithful servants, spiritual leaders] be clothed [wrapped, adorned] with righteousness [moral integrity, God’s standard], and Your saints [pious ones, holy people] shout [sing, overcome] for joy [triumphant praise, gladness]. word study 10 For the sake [because of, on account of] of Your servant [slave, bondservant] David, do not [refuse] reject [turn away, abandon] Your anointed one [Messiah, chosen king, the Lord’s appointed]. word study 11 The LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God] swore [made a solemn oath, to vow] an oath to David [the youngest son of Jesse, a king of Israel], a promise [a vow, a pledge] He will not revoke [turn back, cancel]: “One of your descendants [the fruit of your body, your offspring] I will place [set, appoint] on your throne [the seat of power, authority]. word study 12 If your sons [children, descendants] keep My covenant [promise, agreement] and the testimony [divine witness, laws] I will teach [guide, instruct] them, then their sons [descendants, heirs] will also [too, even] sit on your throne [seat of power, authority] forever [perpetually, eternally] and ever [without end, always].” word study 13 For the LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God] has chosen [selected, picked out] Zion [the mountain in Jerusalem]; He has desired [strongly wished for, longed for] it for His home [habitation, dwelling place, seat]: word study 14 “This [the chosen place, my desired home] is My resting place [state of quietness, peaceful home] forever [for all eternity, perpetuity] and ever [without end]; here [in this specific location, from this place] I will dwell [sit, remain, abide], for [because, since] I have desired [strongly wished for, longed for] this home [place of residence, city]. word study 15 I will bless [praise, honor, abundantly provide for] her with abundant provisions [food, vitailes, all they need]; I will satisfy [fill, meet the needs of] her poor [needy ones, oppressed, those in need of help] with bread [food, grain, enough to eat]. word study 16 I will clothe [wrap with spiritual garments] her priests [spiritual leaders, ministers] with salvation [deliverance, rescue, yeshua], and her saints [pious ones] will sing out [shout aloud, joyfully] in joy [triumphant praise, joyful noise]. word study 17 There [in that place, at that time] I will make a horn [a horn; a hill or peak] grow for David [the youngest son of Jesse, a king of Israel]; I have prepared [ordained, arranged] a lamp [a device for spiritual guidance] for My anointed one [the Messiah, My chosen king]. word study 18 I will clothe [wrap with, cover] his enemies [adversaries, those who oppose] with shame [humiliation, disgrace], but the crown [consecration] upon him will gleam [shine brightly, flourish].” word study
