Psalms 101

1 I will sing [make melody, praise] of Your loving devotion [kindness, mercy, faithfulness] and justice [righteous judgment, fairness]; to You, O LORD [Yehovah, the Lord God], I will sing [praise, give thanks] praises [hymns of adoration]. word study 2 I will ponder [carefully consider, reflect on] the way [path, manner of life] that is blameless [unblemished, perfect]— when [how long, at what time] will You come [approach, enter] to me? I will walk [live, conduct myself] in my house [dwelling place, family] with integrity [completeness, moral purity] of heart [innermost being, mind and emotions]. word study 3 I will set [not allow to be present] no worthless [wicked, evil, or ungodly] thing [Belial, something of no value] before my eyes [my gaze, my attention]. I hate [feel intense dislike, despise] the work [deeds, actions] of those who fall away [turn aside, swerve from what is right]; it shall not cling [cleave, stick] to me. word study 4 A [twisted] perverse heart [the innermost part of a person] shall depart [turn aside, remove] from me; I will know [be aware of, understand] nothing [no evil thing, none] of [moral or natural] evil [bad, wickedness]. word study 5 Whoever [privily, secretly] slanders [to accuse falsely, malign] his neighbor [a close friend, companion] in secret [in a hidden, covert manner], I will put to silence [destroy, cut off]; the one with haughty [high, lofty] eyes [the source of pride, the window to the soul] and a proud [arrogant, conceited] heart [the innermost part of a person], I will not [under no circumstances] endure [tolerate, suffer]. word study 6 My eyes [the source of my attention and care] favor the faithful [those who are trustworthy and loyal] of the land [the earth, the territory], that they may dwell [live, remain, and abide] with me [in my presence, as companions]; he who walks [proceeds, travels] in the way [path, manner of life] of integrity [unblemished, perfect character] shall minister [serve, attend] to me [as a worshiper, in devotion]. word study 7 No one [none, not a single person] who practices [works, is involved in] deceit [slackness or treacherous behavior] shall dwell [reside, live] in my house [dwelling place]; no one who tells [speaks, utters] lies [deception or falsehood] shall stand [be established, remain] in my presence [before my eyes, in my sight]. word study 8 Every morning [at the break of day, daily] I will remove [destroy, cut off] all the wicked [morally wrong, guilty of sin] of the land [earth, territory], that I may cut off [destroy, eliminate] every evildoer [worker of iniquity, one who practices evil] from the city [town, place of habitation] of the LORD [Yehovah, the supreme God]. word study
