Job 10

BSA

1 “I loathe [am weary of, have a strong dislike for] my own life [my existence, being alive]; I will express [give free course to, let go of] my complaint [sad thoughts, bitter feelings] and speak [communicate, utter] in the bitterness [pain, discontent] of my soul [the essence of my being, my inner self]. word study 2 I will say [declare, speak] to God [Eloah, the one true God]: Do not [refuse, forbid] condemn me [declare me guilty, punish]! Let me know [inform me, reveal to me] why [for what reason, on what account] You prosecute me [contend with me, strive against me]. word study 3 Does it please [bring joy or satisfaction] You to oppress [cruelly afflict or tyrannize] me, to reject [despise or spurn] the work [labor or toil] of Your hands [the palm of Your hand] and favor [shine upon or smile on] the schemes [counsel or plans] of the wicked [morally wrong or guilty of sin]? word study 4 Do You have eyes [of human flesh, carnal] of flesh? Do You see [as mankind sees, like human beings] as man [human, enosh] sees? word study 5 Are Your days [as the days of man] like those of a [human, enosh] mortal, or Your years [like man’s days, as the time of man] like those of a [great man, a man of strength] man, word study 6 that You should seek [inquire after, search out] my iniquity [moral evil, sin] and search out [investigate, look for] my sin [guilt, wrongdoing]word study 7 though You know [are fully aware, have complete understanding] that I am not [absolutely devoid of] guilty [wicked, sinful], and there is [exists, can be found] no [none, nothing] deliverance [rescue, salvation] from Your hand [power, control, direction]? word study 8 Your hands shaped [shaped with care, formed with purpose] me and altogether [completely, in every part] formed me. Would You now turn [change your mind, reverse your plan] and destroy [swallow up, bring to nothing] me? word study 9 Please [I pray, I beseech] remember [to recall, to mark] that You molded [fashioned, shaped] me like [as] clay [a dry measure, a heap of material]. Would You now return [bring back, turn] me to [towards, into] dust [dry earth]? word study 10 Did You not [certainly, indeed] pour me out like [fresh, abundant] milk, and curdle me like [thick, hardened] cheese [made from milk]? word study 11 You clothed [wrapped, covered] me with skin [human skin, animal hide] and flesh [body, living thing], and knit [wove, fenced] me together with bones [substance, essence] and sinews [tendons, connective tissue]. word study 12 You have granted me life [alive, being] and loving devotion [kindness, mercy], and Your care [visitiation, oversight] has preserved [kept, protected] my spirit [breath of life, mind and emotions]. word study 13 Yet You [hid from view] concealed these things [specific plans, intentions] in Your [innermost, spiritual] heart, and I know [am aware, have discerned] that this [situation, circumstance] was [purposed, intended] in Your [thoughts, will] mind: word study 14 If [in the event that, whether] I sinned [missed the mark, went wrong], You would take note [observe, watch], and would not [by no means] acquit me [clear, make clean] of my iniquity [moral evil, sin, a state of being morally wrong]. word study 15 If I am guilty [be wicked, have done evil], woe [alas, deep sorrow] to me! And even if I am righteous [just, upright], I cannot lift [raise, exalt] my head [as a sign of confidence]. I am full [sated, completely filled] of shame [dishonor, ignominy] and aware [see, perceive] of my affliction [misery, trouble]. word study 16 Should I hold my head high [with pride, in triumph], You would hunt me like a lion [a powerful predator], and again display Your power [wondrously, in a marvelous way] against me [to injure me, to show Your strength]. word study 17 You produce [renew, restore] new witnesses [testifiers, accusers] against me and multiply [increase, grow] Your anger [vexation, frustration] toward me. Hardships [changes, warfare] assault [attack, oppress] me in wave [army, campaign] after wave [succession, repetition]. word study 18 Why then [for what purpose, to what end] did You bring me from the [mother’s] womb [place of fetal development, matrix]? Oh, that I had died [expired, given up the ghost] [before birth], and no eye [source of sight, observer] had seen me [perceived, looked upon]! word study 19 If only I had never come [come into existence, been born] to be [to exist, have life], but had been carried [led, conducted] from the womb [belly, place of birth] to the grave [sepulchre, place of death, as if I had not been]. word study 20 Are my days [brief, few in number] not few? Withdraw [cease, stop, let me alone] from me, that I may have [take, experience, enjoy] a little [small amount of, fleeting] comfort [cheerfulness, relief, solace], word study 21 before I go [to walk, to live or die]—never [not at all] to return [to turn back, to come again]— to a land [country, territory, or region] of darkness [misery, destruction, or wickedness] and gloom [shadow of death, deep distress], word study 22 to a land [of thick dark, a place of chaos] of utter darkness [as midnight, without any light], of deep shadow [death-shade, the shadow of death] and disorder [without any order, a state of confusion], where even the light [a small amount of light] is like [as] darkness [a state of gloom, spiritual darkness].” word study
