1 “You are to construct the tabernacle [a sacred dwelling place, the House of God] itself with ten curtains of finely spun [twined, woven] linen, each with blue, purple [a color of royalty and richness], and scarlet [a deep red] yarn, and cherubim [angelic beings, guardians of God’s throne] skillfully [with cleverness and artistic ability] worked into them. word study 2 Each curtain [a hanging or trembling fabric, drape] shall be twenty-eight [eight and twenty] cubits [a unit of measurement, about the length of a forearm] long and four [a simple counting number] cubits wide —all [every one, everything] curtains [hanging fabrics, drapes] the same size [one measure, unified dimension]. word study 3 Five [a quantity of five] of the curtains [hanging or trembling fabrics] are to be joined [united, coupled] together [one to another, as a single unit], and the other five [an additional quantity of five] joined [coupled, united] as well [in a similar manner, together]. word study 4 Make [create, bring into existence] loops [rings, circular pieces] of blue [violet, a specific dye] material on the edge [border, lip] of the end [outermost, final] curtain in the first set [group, joint], and do the same [likewise, in a similar manner] for the end [outermost, final] curtain in the second set [group, joining]. word study 5 Make [create, bring into existence] fifty [a quantity of fifty, numerous] loops [rings, hooks] on one [the first, single] curtain [hanging fabric, drape] and fifty [a quantity of fifty, numerous] loops [rings, hooks] on the end [edge, border] curtain [hanging fabric, drape] of the second set [group, collection], so that the loops [rings, hooks] line up [be opposite, correspond] opposite [facing, aligned with] one another [each other, mutually]. word study 6 Make fifty [fiftie, fifty in number] gold [valuable, brilliant] clasps [hooks, fasteners] as well, and join [unite, couple] the curtains [hangings, drapes] together with the clasps [taches, hooks], so that the tabernacle [portable place of worship, sacred tent] will be [exist, come into being] a unit [one, unified whole]. word study 7 You are to make [create, bring into being] curtains [hanging fabrics, drapes] of goat [she-goat, kid] hair for the tent [nomad’s home, portable shelter] over the tabernacle [sacred dwelling place, meeting tent]—eleven [one more than ten] curtains [fabric hangings] in all [altogether, as a whole]. word study 8 Each of the eleven [one more than ten] curtains is to be the same size [of one measure, uniform]—thirty [a specific length] cubits long and four [a specific width, a small number] cubits wide [in breadth, a physical dimension]. word study 9 Join [unite, couple together] five of the curtains [hanging fabrics, drapes] into one set [apart, alone] and the other six [a separate group] into another. Make [construct, build] all [every, the entirety] the frames [boards, panels] of the tabernacle [dwelling place, sanctuary] in this way [thus, accordingly]. word study 18 Construct [make, build, or establish] twenty [a multitude or numerous] frames [boards, planks, or timbers] for the south [southern direction, Negeb, or the region of Judah] side [edge, corner, or border] of the tabernacle [a sacred tent, a place of worship, or a dwelling place for God], word study 19 with forty silver [valuable, precious] bases [sockets, foundations] under the twenty frames [boards, planks]—two [a pair, dual] bases [sockets, pedestals] for each frame [board, plank], one [single, united] under each tenon [projection, handle]. word study 20 For the second [subsequent, following the first] side of the tabernacle [a portable place of worship, the dwelling place of God], the north [Zaphon, towards the colder region] side, make twenty [a multitude, a large number] frames [boards, flat pieces of wood, like a plank] word study 21 and forty silver [precious, valuable] bases—two [a pair, dual] bases [sockets, pedestals] under each [every, one] frame [board, plank]. word study 22 Make [to construct, create] six frames [boards, planks] for the rear [hinder part, back] of the tabernacle [a portable place of worship, a sacred tent], the west [toward the sea, in a western direction] side [flank, edge], word study 23 and two [a pair, dual] frames [boards, flat pieces of wood] for the two [a pair] back [hinder, rear] corners [angles, specific parts] of the tabernacle [a special tent, portable place of worship], word study 24 coupled [joined together, united] together from bottom [beneath, from the foundation] to top and fitted [joined, made whole] into a single [one, unified] ring [signet]. These will serve [function, be used] as the two [pair, dual] corners [angles, joints]. word study 25 So there are to be eight frames [boards, or planks] and sixteen [ten plus six] silver [precious metal] bases [sockets, or foundations]—two [a pair, or dual] under each [every single] frame [board, made of wood]. word study 26 You are also to make [create, bring into being] five [a quantity of five, a specific number] crossbars [bars, rods] of acacia wood [shittim wood, a durable and thorny tree] for the frames [boards, planks] on one [the first, a single] side [rib, area] of the tabernacle [a portable place of worship, a sacred tent], word study 27 five [a quantity of five, denoting completeness] for those on the other [second] side [rib or part of the tabernacle], and five for those on the rear [hinder, western] side [flank or recess] of the tabernacle [a portable place of worship], to the west [the direction of the setting sun, toward the sea]. word study 28 The central [main, middle] crossbar [bar, bolt] in the middle [midst, center] of the frames [boards, planks] shall extend [pass through, reach] from one end [border, edge] to the other [opposite end, extremity]. word study 29 Overlay [cover with a layer of] the frames [boards, planks] with gold [a valuable metal] and make [create, fashion] gold [precious, highly valued] rings [circular bands, signets] to hold [provide a place for] the crossbars [bars, bolts]. Also [in addition] overlay [coat, plate] the crossbars [supporting bars] with gold [gold; something yellow or brilliant]. word study 30 So you are to set up [rear up, assemble] the tabernacle [sacred tent, dwelling place] according to the pattern [fashion, design] shown you [which was shewed thee, that you saw] on the mountain [hill]. word study 31 Make a veil [of exquisite craftsmanship, with intricate designs] of blue [describing the color obtained from a specific type of mussel], purple [royal garments, luxurious color], and scarlet [deep red, crimson] yarn, and finely spun linen [fine white linen, luxurious clothing], with cherubim [angelic beings, guardians of important places] skillfully [with cleverness, expertise] worked into it. word study 32 Hang it with gold [valuable, brilliant] hooks on four [a simple counting number] posts of acacia [shittim, a thorny tree] wood, overlaid [covered, laid over] with gold [a precious metal] and standing on four silver [silver; money, a price] bases [sockets, a strong foundation]. word study 33 And hang the veil [curtain, screen] from the clasps [hooks, knobs] and place the ark [chest, container] of the Testimony [covenant, witness] behind the veil [partition, divider]. So the veil [separator, divider] will separate [divide, set apart] the Holy Place [sacred area, sanctuary] from the Most Holy Place [inner sanctum, holy of holies]. word study 34 Put the mercy seat [atonement cover, lid of forgiveness] on the ark [chest, container of the covenant] of the Testimony [witness, God’s instructions] in the Most Holy Place [sacred area, holy of holies]. word study 35 And place the table [for sacred purposes] outside the veil [a curtain separating the holy place from the most holy place] on the north side [toward the Zaphon, the northern direction] of the tabernacle [a portable place of worship, the dwelling place of God], and put the lampstand [a chandelier] opposite the table, on the south side [toward the southern direction, the right hand of the tabernacle]. word study 36 For the entrance [doorway, gate] to the tent [tabernacle, dwelling place], you are to make [create, construct] a curtain [hanging, screen] embroidered [wrought with needlework, intricately designed] with blue [violet, purple dye], purple [royal color, rich dye], and scarlet [crimson, deep red] yarn, and finely spun [twined, twisted] linen [fine white fabric, luxurious cloth]. word study 37 Make [create, bring into existence] five [a quantity of five, denoting completeness] posts [pillars, columns] of acacia wood [shittim, a thorny tree] for the curtain [covering, veil], overlay [cover, plate] them with gold [a valuable metal] hooks [pegs, nails], and cast [pour, mold] five [a quantity of five, denoting completeness] bronze [copper, a base metal] bases [sockets, foundations] for them. word study
