8 Bible Verses on The Local Church

8 verses

In the New Testament, believers are called to gather together in local communities to worship, serve, and support one another. The book of Hebrews encourages believers not to neglect meeting together, as seen in Hebrews 10:25, while 1 Corinthians 1:2 addresses the church in Corinth as a called and holy people. According to Romans 12:4-5 and Ephesians 3:10, these local gatherings are vital to the body of Christ, with each member contributing their unique gifts and talents. As Acts 20:28 and other passages illustrate, local churches are also led by elders and overseers who care for and guide the flock, promoting unity and spiritual growth among believers.

Let us not neglect meeting together, as some have made a habit, but let us encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
To the church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be holy, together with all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours:
Just as each of us has one body with many members, and not all members have the same function, so in Christ we who are many are one body, and each member belongs to one another.
His purpose was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms,
Keep watch over yourselves and the entire flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which He purchased with His own blood.
The body is a unit, though it is composed of many parts. And although its parts are many, they all form one body. So it is with Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free, and we were all given one Spirit to drink. For the body does not consist of one part, but of many.
Acts 2:42
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they watch over your souls as those who must give an account. To this end, allow them to lead with joy and not with grief, for that would be of no advantage to you.
