As followers of Christ, believers often find themselves at odds with the world around them. According to John 15:19, this is to be expected, for the world's values and priorities are fundamentally different from those of God's kingdom. The apostle Paul writes in 2 Timothy 3:12 that all who desire to live a godly life will suffer persecution, while 1 Peter 2:19-21 encourages believers to endure such hardships with patience and faith. Ultimately, Philippians 4:13 and Romans 8:28 remind believers that they can face these challenges with confidence, knowing that God is working all things together for their good and empowering them to overcome.

If you were of the world, it would love you as its own. Instead, the world hates you, because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world.
For if anyone endures the pain of unjust suffering because he is conscious of God, this is to be commended. How is it to your credit if you are beaten for doing wrong and you endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in His footsteps:
And we know that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose.
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.
Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership can righteousness have with wickedness? Or what fellowship does light have with darkness?
The coming of the lawless one will be accompanied by the working of Satan, with every kind of power, sign, and false wonder, and with every wicked deception directed against those who are perishing, because they refused the love of the truth that would have saved them. For this reason God will send them a powerful delusion so that they believe the lie, in order that judgment may come upon all who have disbelieved the truth and delighted in wickedness.
Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness, to rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, and over all the earth itself and every creature that crawls upon it.” So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
Let us not neglect meeting together, as some have made a habit, but let us encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Let no one deceive you in any way, for it will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness—the son of destruction—is revealed.
“Therefore come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.”
But since he has no root, he remains for only a season. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, he quickly falls away.
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: “For Your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
