12 Bible Verses on Lifting Hands

12 verses

In worship and prayer, lifting hands is a gesture of surrender, praise, and devotion to God. The Psalms, such as Psalms 63:4 and 134:2, frequently express this physical act as a way to bless and worship the Lord. The apostle Paul also instructs men to lift holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing, as seen in 1 Timothy 2:8. Similarly, in times of distress, the prophet Jeremiah cries out to God, lifting his hands in supplication, as recorded in Lamentations 3:41, while the psalmist asks that his prayer be like incense, lifting his hands in the evening, as in Psalms 141:2.
