9 Bible Verses on Lie

9 verses

Dishonest words and actions are strongly condemned in Scripture, with Proverbs 19:5 warning that a false witness will not go unpunished. The book of Proverbs also lists lying as one of the seven detestable things to God, along with other evils such as shedding innocent blood and sowing discord, as seen in Proverbs 6:16-19. According to Proverbs 12:22, the Lord detests lying lips, but delights in people who are truthful, and Proverbs 12:19 notes that truthful words stand the test of time. Ultimately, Revelation 21:8 declares that all liars will be excluded from eternal life with God.
