8 Bible Verses on Example

8 verses

Believers are called to model their lives after Jesus Christ and other faithful followers, demonstrating a righteous and humble character to those around them. The apostle Paul instructs Timothy to be an example to others in speech, conduct, and purity, as stated in 1 Timothy 4:12. In Philippians 3:17 and 4:9, Paul encourages the Philippians to follow his own example and the examples of other believers, while in John 13:15, Jesus sets the ultimate example of humility and service. By following such examples, as also encouraged in 1 Corinthians 11:1, Christians can grow in their faith and inspire others to do the same.

Let no one despise your youth, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.
Join one another in following my example, brothers, and carefully observe those who walk according to the pattern we set for you.
I have set you an example so that you should do as I have done for you.
Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me, put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
You are to imitate me, just as I imitate Christ.
But as for you, speak the things that are consistent with sound doctrine. Older men are to be temperate, dignified, self-controlled, and sound in faith, love, and perseverance. Older women, likewise, are to be reverent in their behavior, not slanderers or addicted to much wine, but teachers of good. In this way they can train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, managers of their households, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be discredited.
Not that we lack this right, but we wanted to offer ourselves as an example for you to imitate.
And you became imitators of us and of the Lord when you welcomed the message with the joy of the Holy Spirit, in spite of your great suffering.
