Scripture acknowledges the complexity of human emotions, offering guidance on how to navigate and manage them. In Philippians, believers are encouraged to bring their anxieties and concerns to God in prayer, trusting in His peace that surpasses understanding. The book of Proverbs provides wisdom on the importance of self-control, warning against the dangers of unmanaged emotions, such as anger, and encouraging a gentle spirit. As Galatians and Romans teach, a life transformed by the Spirit involves a renewal of the mind and a walk in step with God, leading to emotional balance and a heart conformed to His will.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh craves what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are opposed to each other, so that you do not do what you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, and debauchery; idolatry and sorcery; hatred, discord, jealousy, and rage; rivalries, divisions, factions, and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.
Have I not commanded you to be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
And we know that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose.
“Be angry, yet do not sin.” Do not let the sun set upon your anger, and do not give the devil a foothold.
A joyful heart makes a cheerful countenance, but sorrow of the heart crushes the spirit.
Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who does not control his temper.
We tear down arguments and every presumption set up against the knowledge of God; and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
