14 Bible Verses on Contentment

14 verses

In a world filled with desires and discontentment, the Bible teaches that true satisfaction can be found in a relationship with God. According to Hebrews 13:5, God has promised to never leave or forsake His people, providing a foundation for contentment. The apostle Paul, in Philippians 4:11-13, shares his personal experience of learning to be content in all circumstances, while 1 Timothy 6:6-8 warns against the dangers of greed and materialism. Jesus Himself cautioned against the pursuit of wealth and possessions in Luke 12:15, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing spiritual riches.

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, for God has said: “Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.”
I am not saying this out of need, for I have learned to be content regardless of my circumstances. I know how to live humbly, and I know how to abound. I am accustomed to any and every situation—to being filled and being hungry, to having plenty and having need. I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.
Of course, godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, so we cannot carry anything out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with these.
And He said to them, “Watch out! Guard yourselves against every form of greed, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”
Of course, godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, so we cannot carry anything out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with these. Those who want to be rich, however, fall into temptation and become ensnared by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. By craving it, some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows. But you, O man of God, flee from these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness.
Of course, godliness with contentment is great gain.
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.
That is why, for the sake of Christ, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
And my God will supply all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
You will keep in perfect peace the steadfast of mind, because he trusts in You.
Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness. Delight yourself in the LORD, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD; trust in Him, and He will do it.
Regardless, each one should lead the life that the Lord has assigned to him and to which God has called him. This is what I prescribe in all the churches.
I am not saying this out of need, for I have learned to be content regardless of my circumstances.
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
