The Bible teaches that marriage is a sacred institution, and any violation of its covenant is considered a serious offense. In Matthew 5:27-28, Jesus emphasizes that even lustful thoughts can be equivalent to committing adultery, highlighting the importance of purity in heart and mind. The book of Hebrews affirms the value of marriage, stating that it should be held in honor by all, while Proverbs warns of the destructive consequences of adultery, noting that it leads to shame and loss. Additionally, Leviticus and Luke 16:18 condemn the act, emphasizing the need for faithfulness and commitment in marriage.
