14 Bible Verses on Clairvoyance

14 verses

The Bible warns against seeking knowledge or guidance through supernatural means that are not of God. Deuteronomy 18:9-12 and Leviticus 19:31 explicitly condemn practices such as clairvoyance, considering them detestable to the Lord. In contrast, 2 Kings 6:15-17 illustrates how God can provide supernatural insight and protection to His people, demonstrating His power and care. The Scriptures caution believers to be discerning and reliant on God's revelation, as 1 Peter 5:8 reminds us to be vigilant against the devil's schemes, seeking wisdom and guidance from the Lord alone.

When you enter the land that the LORD your God is giving you, do not imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, practices divination or conjury, interprets omens, practices sorcery, casts spells, consults a medium or spiritist, or inquires of the dead. For whoever does these things is detestable to the LORD. And because of these detestable things, the LORD your God is driving out the nations before you.
You must not turn to mediums or spiritists; do not seek them out, or you will be defiled by them. I am the LORD your God.
When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early in the morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. So he asked Elisha, “Oh, my master, what are we to do?” “Do not be afraid,” Elisha answered, “for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” Then Elisha prayed, “O LORD, please open his eyes that he may see.” And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw that the hills were full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

Be sober-minded and alert. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.
When the magicians, enchanters, astrologers, and diviners came in, I told them the dream, and they could not interpret it for me.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this world’s darkness, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Someone in the crowd replied, “Teacher, I brought You my son, who has a spirit that makes him mute. Whenever it seizes him, it throws him to the ground. He foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth, and becomes rigid. I asked Your disciples to drive it out, but they were unable.” “O unbelieving generation!” Jesus replied. “How long must I remain with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring the boy to Me.” So they brought him, and seeing Jesus, the spirit immediately threw the boy into a convulsion. He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth. Jesus asked the boy’s father, “How long has this been with him?” “From childhood,” he said. “It often throws him into the fire or into the water, trying to kill him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” “If You can?” echoed Jesus. “All things are possible to him who believes!” Immediately the boy’s father cried out, “I do believe; help my unbelief!” When Jesus saw that a crowd had come running, He rebuked the unclean spirit. “You deaf and mute spirit,” He said, “I command you to come out and never enter him again.” After shrieking and convulsing him violently, the spirit came out. The boy became like a corpse, so that many said, “He is dead.” But Jesus took him by the hand and helped him to his feet, and he stood up. After Jesus had gone into the house, His disciples asked Him privately, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?” Jesus answered, “This kind cannot come out, except by prayer.”
You must not eat anything with blood still in it. You must not practice divination or sorcery.
Then Jesus called the Twelve to Him and began to send them out two by two, giving them authority over unclean spirits.
When men tell you to consult the spirits of the dead and the spiritists who whisper and mutter, shouldn’t a people consult their God instead? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living? To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, they have no light of dawn.
I am afraid, however, that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may be led astray from your simple and pure devotion to Christ. For if someone comes and proclaims a Jesus other than the One we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit than the One you received, or a different gospel than the one you accepted, you put up with it way too easily.
