In times of sorrow and distress, the Bible offers comfort and solace to those who are hurting. The Psalms, such as Psalms 34:18 and Psalms 147:3, assure us that God is near to the brokenhearted, binding up their wounds and bringing them peace. Jesus' words in John 14:27 also promise a peace that surpasses understanding, calming the troubled heart. As expressed in Psalms 51:17, a broken and contrite heart is one that God will not despise, and as 1 Peter 5:7 reminds us, we can cast our anxieties upon Him, knowing He cares for us deeply.

Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled; do not be afraid.
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.
My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.
But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest on me.
Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will surely help you; I will uphold you with My right hand of righteousness.
